Seeking Another Bite at the Apple: Neocons Push for War in Syria

Weeks of escalating war propaganda culminated with today's appeal from the Washington Post for the Obama regime to get cracking and start another Middle Eastern war. The bellicosity emanating from the typical gaggle of blood thirsty war freaks has been ratcheted up another notch with each story of mass killings and torture (Gitmo anyone?), barrel bombs and crimes against humanity and now has reached a keening pitch as neocon chickenhawks have found Syrian leader Bashir al Assad in violation of his vow to eliminate chemical weapon stocks. The warmongers never have gotten over their sorrow that just as Obama and Secretary of Skull and Bones John Kerry were ready to rock and roll by unleashing millions of dollars of defense industry products upon Damascus that the hated Russian strongman Vladimir Putin rode in to save the day and send those crying the loudest for blood and carnage home with a bad case of blue balls. Now with the new year underway the forces of the American war machine have regrouped and are squealing for the blood of others anew.
The Washington Post editorial calling for Obama to commence the bombing relies on the same Hitlerian big lie that Assad used Sarin gas against his own people, it was a winner in selling the Shock and Awe attack and invasion on Iraq when a similar line was used against Saddam Hussein. This time though it was even better, state media networks in the Homeland obtained ghoulish video footage of the alleged victims of the gassing at Ghouta and ran them over and over again. Americans were horrified at the twitching little children in their death throes after their young lives had been snuffed out by an atrocity being the use of chemical weapons on civilians. The problem is that as successful that their war pornography was with a good amount of the populace (I lost a decades long friendship because I refused to support another fucking war) they never could pin it on Assad. The militant Islamist rebels that the U.S. along with our friends in the House of Saud were backing could very well have used the gas themselves, it certainly would behoove their cause more than it would were the Assad regime to have done it and invited upon himself international condemnation as well as a war that would have likely ended up with him dead or put on a show trial like Saddam and then hanged.
The WaPo plea for American blood and treasure to be fed into Syria drags out the he gassed his own people claim again despite this having never been proven and any idea that the Jeff Bezos era would usher in a new commitment to holding power to account and not shilling for wars can now be put to rest. I excerpt the following:
Mr. Assad’s gambit is unacceptable. The chemical weapons removal was the direct outgrowth of the use of poison gas to kill more than 1,400 people last year, including women and children. The evidence pointed directly at Mr. Assad’s forces for use of the chemical weapons. Further delay by Syria in the movement of these deadly substances to the coast will only compound Mr. Assad’s complicity in the grave crime of the original attack.
Granted that a good amount of Americans simply don't bother to read, choosing instead to have their brains slowly colonized by the electronic crackpipe and granted that Americans have the attention spans of gnats and it is after all Super Bowl Sunday but it is pretty damned blatant to peddle that bullshit again in an attempt to start a war. It is also of note that arch neocon propagandist and ideologue William Kristol of the Weekly Standard has just agreed to join ABC News which will provide the grinning little shitbag with a national forum from which to call for a renewed U.S. drive to wage war against all of Israel's enemies. The problems with the domestic media are legion but aside from the half-truths, cowardice, careerism, obfuscations, hidden agendas and false equivalencies it is a grave failure to act as a free press when guys like William Kristol are given the legitimacy that they have time and again proved that they do not deserve.
The war drums are pounding again, one could say that they never really stopped.

Are Syrian Barrel Bombs the New Sarin?

Percolating heavily for the first time in months the state-corporate media is beginning to produce more tales of dead children in Syria, still more alleged victims of the Assad regime.  The latest horror stories from the abattoir relate to some truly nasty munitions – barrel bombs – that have been being dropped on populated areas by what are reported to be government helicopters. The bombs, which are described as improvised explosive devices being barrels or barrel shaped containers packed with explosives and shrapnel have largely been used in the city of Aleppo and are capable of causing horrific damage, this is especially so given the presence of the shrapnel within. There has been much reportage of late over the mounting death toll courtesy of the barrel bombs and look for it to continue as the neocons, war freaks and their media operatives will continue to try to package a relaunch of the justification for U.S. intervention in Syria. They nearly pulled it off with the great chemical weapons scam of 2013, Barry was preaching war to the people and were it not for an inconvenient case of diarrhea of the mouth from his Secretary of State allowing Russian leader Vladimir Putin to intervene we would now be mired in the midst of an increasingly brutal civil war.

The war machine has continued to agitate for action in Syria goaded along by the Saudis and silent partner Israel (which is more preoccupied with starting another war in Iran) and the ongoing killing of civilians will provide much fodder in the coming weeks. But it is just more of the usual propaganda and warmongering, nothing is more able to influence American hearts and minds to support foreign interventions in a civil war that is none of our business like piles of little dead bodies as American tykes are gleefully awaiting Santa. The carnage factor this time is far more graphic than the endless loop of those twitching, dying Syrian children, the victims of a still mysterious sarin gas attack in Ghouta that nearly convinced the sheeple to bleat their consent for yet another Middle Eastern intervention.  While the narrative of the little severed limbs and lives cut short is indeed tragic, even more so when it is cynically pushed to send more people to die there is the obvious lack of context, the big lie of omission. This being of course that the poor little innocent children in Iraq who fell victims to U.S. bombs and the fallout from the sectarian warfare that was set off when President George W. Bush and his gaggle of neocon war criminals  chose to attack and invade a country that did nothing to us are always left out. They are just as dead as any victims of Syrian barrel bombs yet are merely “collateral damage”, acceptable victims of the righteous cause of making the world safe for McDonalds and Wal-Mart.

While Syria has been relegated to the back burner as the treasonous cabal of U.S. Senators frantically work to sabotage the P5+1 Iran peace talks it has never truly been off of the radar for the war machine. The situation continues to deteriorate as those freedom fighting rebels that U.S. officials the likes of blood thirsty Senators John McCain, Lindsay Graham and others so advocated for have increasingly come to be dominated by serious Islamist fanatics looking to go medieval on Assad’s ass. When considering that those type of savages differ very little from the barbaric hoards that inflicted unspeakable cruelty on their victims centuries ago it would be difficult to not understand why the Assad regime is becoming increasingly desperate to destroy them. With the rebel forces dug deeply into densely populated areas such as Aleppo they also should bear a fair share of the blame for the mounting death toll of children but you won't see that sort of moral equivalence pointed out by the corrupt media in this country which long ago ensured that the devil horns would be affixed to President Bashar al Assad alone. In yet another aspect of the ridiculous Time Magazine "Person of the Year" award that was given to the Pope rather than former government contractor Booz-Allen employee turned NSA whistleblower it was Assad who was also a runner up and probably would have adorned the cover had El Presidente and Secretary of Skull and Bones Kerry been able to have their war in September. Assad is also vilified in the 'iiberal' New Republic as "Madman of the Year"

War is always brutal, particularly civil wars and even more so when ancient religious and ethnic tensions are exploited by foreign inciters of violence with their own agendas. While the barrel bombings don’t rise to the level of bullshit that the sarin gas attacks did, simply because it was a full blown lie that the rebel forces did not possess the capability to concoct the toxic brew they still are going to be used very soon, likely the weekend after Christmas has passed via the Sunday morning bloviation circuit to gin up the case for U.S. entry into another conflict where we have zero compelling national interest. There will inevitably be calls for the military action that is most dear to liberals, humanitarian interventions coming in the new year to Sudan as well, Obama is already planting the seeds for U.S. action and rebels there reportedly fired on U.S. aircraft over the weekend. There are also now reports of the discovery of mass graves

All they want for Christmas is war.

Obama Administration Lied About Syria Gas Attack

We almost went to war over this. In a very long piece published by the London Review of Books Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has dropped the bombshell that the Obama administration's much hyped reason for attacking the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad over the Ghouta sarin gas attacks was total bullshit. It was as phony as the lies about Saddam Hussein's yellow cake uranium, mobile chemical weapons labs, trans-Atlantic chemical weapon spewing gliders and links to 9/11. This is not surprising in the least, most wars are based on lies that can be sold to the schmucks and it was at the time one hell of a sales pitch, all of those looped videos of the poor, twitching, dying children that were aired for the maximum emotional impact. It was pure war pornography at both its finest and its worst. Let us not forget how close that we really were to the missiles flying into Damascus, a conflict that could have dragged in Russia and possibly escalated into WW III. Barry and the boys, especially Secretary of Skull and Bones John Kerry were ready to rumble but unfortunately were too inept to close the deal sending the petulant tantrum throwing 'allies' in Riyadh and Tel Aviv into a series of ugly snits that reverberate to this day. Regarding the Hersh story what is even less surprising than the blatant lies that were outed is the refusal of the U.S. state-corporate media to publish it, partially because of the egg on their faces for assisting in selling the Syria attack as they did the shock and awe bombardment of Baghdad but more so that they are not legitimate news outlets in the traditional sense but rather function as propaganda organs of the rogue government.

Hersh himself has been neutralized, smeared and affixed with the dreaded tin-foil hat that effectively ends one's ability to be published in establishment media. Even the New Yorker where Hersh wrote for years about the machinations of the Bush-Cheney regime including the lies to gin up more warstorture and subversion of the Constitution has deemed him to be radioactive. Having myself followed Hersh's work for years the man is a seasoned journalist of integrity and talent who rocketed to stardom with his reporting on the My Lai atrocities during the Vietnam war and ripped away the star spangled facade of Bush-Cheney's war on terror by writing extensively on the heinous activities at Abu Ghraib prison that forever stripped the noble lie from the Iraq misadventure. With the Obama-Eric Holder war on journalism quashing any serious reportage with media personalities who can't be bought off or who in the instance of 60 Minute's now fallen star Lara Logan have agendas real reporters need to go to the foreign press to be published. Hersh likely raised more than a few hackles in Obama's gang when according to a Guardian Story he blasted the bastards with both barrels by inveighing:  “Do you think Obama’s been judged by rational standards? Has Guantanamo closed? Is a war over? Is anyone paying any attention ot Iraq? Is he seriously talking about going into Syria? We are not doing so well in the 80 wars we are in right now, what the hell does he want to go into another one for?”.  He also dared to blaspheme the new national religion by questioning Obama's crowning achievement calling bullshit on the assassination of the bad assed bogeyman Osama bin Laden.
Already on Obama's shit list the latest from Hersh on the Ghouta gassing lies will likely not endear him to administration officials nor the bloodthirsty freaks the likes of John McCain, Mike Rogers, DiFi and Palmetto State Princess Lindsey Graham. The London Review of Books piece thoroughly disembowels the case for the Syrian attack and there should be very serious questions asked of why Obama went in front of the American people early in September and flat out lied:

My fellow Americans, tonight I want to talk to you about Syria, why it matters and where we go from here. Over the past two years, what began as a series of peaceful protests against the repressive regime of Bashar al-Assad has turned into a brutal civil war. Over a hundred thousand people have been killed. Millions have fled the country. In that time, America has worked with allies to provide humanitarian support, to help the moderate opposition and to shape a political settlement.

But I have resisted calls for military action because we cannot resolve someone else’s civil war through force, particularly after a decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The situation profoundly changed, though, on August 21st, when Assad’s government gassed to death over a thousand people, including hundreds of children. The images from this massacre are sickening, men, women, children lying in rows, killed by poison gas, others foaming at the mouth, gasping for breath, a father clutching his dead children, imploring them to get up and walk. On that terrible night, the world saw in gruesome detail the terrible nature of chemical weapons and why the overwhelming majority of humanity has declared them off limits, a crime against humanity and a violation of the laws of war.

This was not always the case. In World War I, American GIs were among the many thousands killed by deadly gas in the trenches of Europe. In World War II, the Nazis used gas to inflict the horror of the Holocaust. Because these weapons can kill on a mass scale, with no distinction between soldier and infant, the civilized world has spent a century working to ban them. And in 1997, the United States Senate overwhelmingly approved an international agreement prohibiting the use of chemical weapons, now joined by 189 government that represent 98 percent of humanity.
Perhaps the state-corporate media can be shamed into acknowledging Hersh's reporting but more likely they will soon mobilize for another vicious coordinated smear campaign. It will be up to the bloggers and alternative media to try to get the truth out in The Homeland. Both Justin Raimondo at Antiwar.com and Marcy Wheeler at Empty Wheel have already written on the Hersh story so hopefully more will follow. It is of especial importance that the exposure of the Syrian lies get out as there is a full court press right now from fifth columnists, war freaks, propagandists, foreign governments and traitors in Congress to sabotage the deal that would prevent the third world war from erupting in Iran which would be a global cataclysm and bring about that looming collapse.

War Pimps Continue to Push for Syria Attack

Sunday morning McCain was among the legion of bloodsucking vampires hitting the propaganda circuit in a desperate effort to resuscitate their blessed Syrian war. On the ridiculous farce that is NBC’s Press the Meat where the reptilian David Gregory holds court it was McCain in his usual crazed manner who denounced Obama for the lamentable fact that half of Damascus isn’t in smoking ruins today. The deranged old bastard also called for support of the Free Syrian Army, apparently he didn’t get the memo that the head of the Syrian rebels, Ayman al-Zawhri as reported by Reuters had just issued what amounted to a fatwa calling for attacks within the United States. McCain, the penultimate media whore was following up his joint press statement made with his little buddy Lindsey by his side  in which the doomsday duo parroted the standard line about Syrian president Assad, downplaying the U.S.-Russia agreement on chemical weapons that temporarily stopped the attack in that he will be able to "go on slaughtering innocent civilians and destabilizing the Middle East.". the truth is that it is thanks to McCain and his ilk that the Middle East has been destabilized due to their illegal wars of aggression and overt lobbying for the munitions industry that results in the lucrative arming of multiple sides of any given conflict. And yet the man never gets called on his bullshit so much has he falsely built his reputation as some kind of war hero whose craving of death and destruction borders on the same type of sick mania that drives a predatory pederast. McCain probably gets an erection when he catches the scent of burning human flesh.

In labeling the deal to avoid a U.S. lone wolf attack "a provocative act of weakness" McCain used his Sunday morning soapbox to engage in his standard demagoguery much to the delight of the host. Gregory, who is nothing other than a proxy for his state paymasters is the same talking head who recently used his forum to issue veiled threats against Glenn Greenwald. The Guardian journalist's implied treachery was of course writing about the revelations of former Booz Allen contractor  Edward Snowden about the crimes of the NSA Stasi . Now MCain may see anything short of global thermonuclear war as an "act of weakness" and thereby presenting the the world the confirmation of the cartoon U.S. warmongering politician but Gregory is an even bigger piece of work and certainly not a  journalist in the literal sense of the term. In fact he brings to mind the classic description of Geraldo Rivera in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as brilliantly written by L.A. Times film critic Tim Rutten: "Seeing him descend bright-eyed and sweaty on wretched New Orleans, as he did in Hurricane Katrina's aftermath, was like watching a vulture on crystal meth. The word that came to mind was not 'reporting,' but 'feeding.'" A perfect example of how to describe Gregory’s style of ‘journalism’ which along with its sister tabloid sleaze is what now passes for news in this morally bankrupt , rapidly crumbling empire.

In addition to the postponement of their lovely war the interjection of Vladimir Putin into the situation has driven the neocons completely insane. If there is one thing that these degenerate death mongers hate more than Muslims it is Russia.  The original foreign devil that served as the glue that held the crazies together was their bitter Cold War era hatred for the bear that still endures over two decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Their philosophy had roots in the theories of a man named Leo Strauss, a German born Chicago academic who believed in the manipulative use of religion and nationalism in order to deceive the masses into unquestionably accepting a state of constant war under the pretense of the "noble lie".  A valuable source of information on Strauss and the long term effects of his theories is Adam Curtis's three part BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares. Among the most influential disciples of Strauss was a certain Paul Wolfowitz, the architect of the Bush-Cheney Iraq war and a member of the Ford administration's Team B that was commissioned to study the extent of the Soviet threat  to the United States. The study of course was used by Ford regime officials such as Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld to push for more aggressive policies to confront the Manichean devil of Russian Communism and to ensure that the defense industry would be able to continue to create bogeymen to justify the transference of taxpayer wealth to the war machine. Cheney and Rummy seem to turn up repeatedly in some of this country's most disastrous foreign policy blunders all predicated on the perpetual wars based on the work of Strauss and later in the Project for the New American Century (PNAC). While it is an extremely complex topic any understanding of why men like John McCain are consistently able to ensnare this country in ruinous foreign conflicts that have zero benefits for the average American and only serve to make money for the weapons industry it is essential to become familiar with this history.

With the temporary respite thanks to the deal with the Russians on Assad's chemical weapons reigning in the dogs of war for the time being it will be critical for the warmongers to propagandize at every turn to sabotage the current agreement. Then Obama, having saved face over his idiotic "red line" ultimatum will be able to rock and roll, this time without having to deal with the dog and pony show of having to get Congress to sign off on the attacks. Democratic House whip Steny Hoyer has already given Obama the green light to circumvent the Constitution and there will inevitably be others as the lobbying by interests seeking to benefit from the carnage will be fast and furious.  Until then McCain, Graham and the rest of the jackals can stew in their own juices, bitching and whining over their postponed jolly good show. In a very amusing piece written by former CIA analyst Ray McGovern over at Consortium News he describes the atmosphere at state propaganda organ CNN after the Russian's took advantage of John Kerry's gaffe.

Morose at CNN

As the march toward war began meandering off in unexpected directions, I was lucky enough to observe, up-close and personal, the angry reaction of some of Israel’s top American supporters on Monday evening. That was after Russia drew Obama a new map for how to reach the desired destination of removing chemical weapons from Assad’s arsenal without going to war.

After doing an interview on CNN International, I opened the studio door and almost knocked over a small fellow named Paul Wolfowitz, President George W. Bush’s former under-secretary of defense who in 2002-2003 had helped craft the fraudulent case for invading Iraq. And there standing next to him was former Sen. Joe Lieberman, the neocon from Connecticut who was a leading advocate for the Iraq War and pretty much every other potential war in the Middle East.

Finding myself in the same room with two gentlemen responsible for so much misery in the world, I fell back on my recent training in non-violence, as we watched Piers Morgan try earnestly to spin the day’s astounding events. On the tube earlier, Anderson Cooper sought counsel from Ari Fleischer, former spokesman for George W. Bush, and David Gergen, long-time White House PR guru.

Fleischer and Gergen were alternately downright furious over the Russian initiative to give peace a chance and disconsolate at seeing the prospect for U.S. military involvement in Syria disappear when we were oh so close. After some caustic and condescending outbursts, an almost surreally disconsolate mood set in. It looked like these fellas were not going to get their war.

Later remarks by Lieberman and Wolfowitz reflected a distinctly funereal atmosphere. I felt I had come to a wake with somberly dressed folks (no pastel ties this time) grieving for a recently, dearly-departed war.

Among Lieberman’s vapid comments was the hope-against-hope assertion that President Obama, of course, could still commit troops to war without congressional authorization. I thought to myself, wow, here’s a fellow who was a senator for 24 years and almost our vice president, and he does not remember that the Founders gave Congress the sole power to declare war in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution.

So I dug into my back pocket, pulled out my little copy of the Constitution, and carefully tore out Article 1. Then I lurked in the ornate elevator waiting area for Joe and Paul to come out. After the usual pleasantries (all politicians feel compelled to “remember” you once you say your name as though they should), I said, “Joe, I couldn’t believe what you said about the President not being required to get the approval of Congress before attacking a country like Syria. So, here; I tore out Article 1 of the Constitution for you; I have another copy, so you can keep it. Go home, read it, and see if what you just said is correct.”

It was a bad evening for war and for those pundits who like to joke about “giving war a chance.” For those of us who think war is not such a good idea – and truly should only be considered as an absolutely last resort – it was an uncommon day for rejoicing at the failure of the warmongers to again send young men and women to kill folks who pose no threat to us.
---

Priceless. The part about tearing the page out of the pocket Constitution and giving it to that vicious troll Joseph Lieberman, the retired third stooge is absolutely classic especially when considering that the entire pack of swine have about as much respect for the document they do as a piece of toilet paper. So now we wait as the war machine plots their next move, one that will not only trigger the coming collapse but perhaps Armageddon itself.

Common Sense: Obama Flack's Condescending Pitch for War

With still absolutely zero proof that the regime of Syrian Bashar Al-Assad ordered the Ghouta gassing the hucksters in the Obama administration are now descending into the territory normally inhabited by used car salesmen.  Barry’s Chief of Staff Denis McDonough made the rounds on the Sunday morning bloviation circuit to pimp the coming unprovoked attack on Syria. In a storming of the sets of all five major talking head shows it was a feat of McCainesque proportions and a triumph to the ability of the fascist warfare state to splice modern technology with a Joseph Goebbels style message. With the war pornography of convulsing kiddies in excruciating agony already being promoted by CNN to manufacture consent in order to break down the defenses of many minds with pure, raw emotion the playing field was in essence prepped. Now it is time for the Obama game of thrones to demonstrate his power as a real, live war president.
It was during the McDonough Sunday whirlwind that the latest in the line of shifting rationales for Obama and Kerry’s attack was floated as a trial balloon. You see, hissed McDonough, his serpentine tongue flickering, the war can be justified if Americans would only apply the “common sense test” in order to to firmly affix the devil horns onto Assad. Just eat your broccoli like good children, shut up and trust us. This evil man is gassing his own people, just like Saddam did to Iranians with the full backing of the U.S. Notably, a story in the Sunday edition of the  New York Times despite blaming Syria’s compiling of chemicals on “Iran” and “Russia”, what should have been the lead was buried in that the story acknowledges that “some of the chemicals came from Western European suppliers and even a handful of American companies”.  This of course did not make it into McDonough’s talking points which should surprise nobody who understands the big con that is being played now.
So this is what it now comes down to in our sad state of  deteriorating Idiocracy in that the flouting of international law, defying the will of the American people and potentially starting WW III no longer even merits any actual proof. In addition to the dispensing of easily digestible lemming food by Mr. McDonough the rationale for this disaster in the making is also shifting now.  It isn’t even so much the twitching, gasping babies anymore that calls for a shock and awe response – it is tosend a message to Iran.  Now that the cat has been let out of the bag it is only more despicable and criminal for this grotesque perversion of an administration to continue to push the preposterous folderol of the chemical weapons attack on Syrian civilians as justification for war. It has all been preordained, the Project for the New American Century (PNAC)  is back on again after a four year interregnum. The first term of Barack H. Obama was all stagecraft, an elaborate hoax to fumigate the stench of Bush-Cheney and to put a friendly face on the same bloody imperialism that can only end in world conquest or world destruction. The Fozzie Bear fascism of Obama is exactly that, the proverbial iron fist was only concealed in a velvet glove but when it comes to the slaughter of innocents there is no difference, in the end they are just as dead. A statement that can also be used in regards to the still undetermined number of victims of the Ghouta gassing, are they really any more dead than if they were just so much “collateral damage” from one of Obama’s drone strikes or from Bush’s bombs and white phosphorous?
So we all wait with baited breath as Barry’s crackerjack team of liars, spin doctors and technicians  diligentlywork to put together tomorrow night’s teleprompter fodder. There are far too many who need no convincing whatsoever. The liberal apologist O-Bots, the misguided identity based groups who have been convinced that Obama has their back and the low information news consumer who wallows in state propaganda and wears his/her willful ignorance on their sleeve as though it were a badge of honor. There are those who are sick and tired  of war and want the government to fix what is wrong in America but they will be quickly and efficiently marginalized once the great dictator has spoken and his media smear machine does the rest. Congress? Please. A gaggle of contemptibly corrupt swine with closets chock a block full of skeletons and huge files aplenty in the archives of the NSA Stasi will rubberstamp Obama’s war with a resounding cadence of hundreds of jackboots stomping in unison.
The impeachment proceedings for Barry and the accompanying war crimes trials for the bitches and bastards in his administration cannot begin soon enough. The Hague will have to open another wing for these swine.

Windsurfing Towards Armageddon

John Kerry was anywhere and everywhere as he windsurfed towards Armageddon across the telecreens today. El Presidente Barack H. Obama’s top salesman for the upcoming kickoff of WW III appeared on several of the noxious weekly Sabbath gabfests hustling the administration line that – GASP – sarin gas was used on Syrian civilians last week. With faux moral outrage practically oozing out of his pampered elitist pores, the Secretary of Skull and Bones pimped this toxic bit of disinformation, spinning it for maximum effect. What Kerry didn’t bother with is that while the use of chemical weapons in Syria has really not been disputed at all it is still unknown as to exactly WHO used them. But such nuances are lost on the masses of asses who from early indications are swallowing Barry’s trickery hook, line and sinker.  The Sunday morning saturation bombing will dutifully be picked up by the state-corporate media echo chamber and the public mind will again be prepped for another outrageous and ruinous war of choice, this one certain to set off an uncontrollable chain reaction. The minute that the first wave of bombs and missiles hit oil prices will be sent soaring into the stratosphere. By the time that they hit escape velocity it will be far too late for the doomed ordinary schmucks who will experience the double-barreled economic shock of gas and food hyperinflation like a cattle prod to the testicles.
Kerry’s revelations are only meant to sway the sheeple into accepting the coming slaughter but they are really nothing than a straw man. The rogue leadership of the U.S. can waive their bloody flag and bray bogus patriotic blather until they are hoarse from their shouting but this is really not about concern for the poor gassed Syrians. Where was the threat of military force during the last two years when 100,000 Syrians were killed, often in a savage an brutal manner?  The White House has now also resorted to the disgusting and exploitative use of the “protect Israel” angle to enlist more public support for the coming military and economic debacle.  While Israel is a key U.S. ally, a virtual garrison of western power parked smack dab in the middle of a hostile territory of fanatical and irrational religion is it not it time to just start putting America first for a change? And by that I mean our own country and our civil liberties and economy, not big oil and gas and military industrial complex money making machines whose only loyalty is to filling their coffers with the profits that they extract from the infliction of human misery. Now there is a moral obscenity that Mr. Kerry can’t be troubled with.
The bizarre down the rabbit hole world of eternal war and freedom strangling domestic fascism that opened in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 has to end for this country will not survive otherwise. That rabbit hole is rapidly becoming a grave and unless there is a return to the principles upon which this once great country was founded upon we are destined for history’s scrapheap along with all of the rest of the failed empires.  It was the man touted as the father of this country, George Washington who warned of the perils of foreign entanglements yet today the amoral hucksters, crooks and self-aggrandizing rats who occupy the city that is named after him are hell bent on escalating hostilities in Syria in order to serve the interests of the elite. The elite that they are paid damned well to represent, you will never see the sons and daughters of the banksters at Goldman Sachs sent off to die in this war, that is for the little people.
The entire rotten D.C. Establishment is going to back Barry’s criminal war, there is always bipartisanship when it comes to such things, there are rebels like Justin Amash and Rand Paul but they are marginalized by a corrupt process that allows for a small cabal of lawmakers such as the always hyped Gang of Eight, a Senate within the Senate to ultimately dictate policy absent a true majority. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are already on board with this war and I still continue to hear the silly liberals who back the putrid atrocity that is the Democratic Party as if we actually live in a functional democracy. The real decision makers are all singing in unison in the madhouse choir as the war wagon careens towards the edge of a cliff into the abyss. Kerry may have been the most ubiquitous charlatan on the propaganda circuit but he was far from the only one. The state media has already been amplifying their chants for war more years on their websites and in their newspapers.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, a fascist’s fascist is one of those leading the stampede to another war. A former FBI agent and the loudest of the surveillance state’s defenders Rogers was quoted by the beltway house organ Politico:
“For two years, the Iranian-backed Syrian regime has been free to engage in the slaughter of its own people with little but rhetorical responses from the United States. Now that the regime has crossed our red line regarding the use of chemical weapons, we must carefully consider whether the credibility of the United States necessitates military action to enforce that position,” Rogers said in a statement on Saturday. “We must also consider what message a failure to act would send to other adversaries and our allies around the world. And finally, we must debate whether a decision by Congress denying the President authority to respond with military force would fulfill U.S. national security interests.”
TRANSLATION: “fulfill U.S. national security interests” means instantly and forever shutting down any more inquiries into the massive, unconstitutional NSA Stasi and the swine in Congress, such as Mr. Rogers who have willingly enabled this cancer on a free society to metastasize.  Wagging the dog is the order of the day as the star spangled bunting is draped over what may ultimately be this nation’s last illicit foreign war, simply because it has the potential to turn into the planet destroying final conflict that will bust humanity back to the Stone Age. Thanks to treacherous snakes like Rogers, Kerry, Feinstein, McCain, Graham, Pelosi, Cheney, Bush and Obama just to name a few we really are not much different than our primal ancestors. Early humans gathered together into mobs and raiding parties to bash in the skulls of others with crude weaponry constructed with animal bones and rocks to steal their food and rape their women. Their methods were more savage but the need for violence and plunder is a thing that has never been completely purged from the gene pool as civilizations evolved.  It is due to the unquenchable and shameless thirst for power, money, influence and the eternal glory of having one’s name stamped into history as a winner of a great war that we have not been able to evolve as a society into a far more peaceful, decent and humble nation – one that minds our own business and actually occupies the moral high ground.
Despite the propagandizing, the pontificating and spewing of jingoist clichés and platitudes smothered in hypocrisy the Congressional seal of approval on WW III is all just a big lie anyway. It is non-binding so Barry and the boys are going to bomb the shit out of Syria anyway. This is all just political theater too allow for the scum and scoundrels who have hijacked this country to cover their asses and hide behind the tattered remnants of the Constitution when it turns into an irreversible global catastrophe. The hated Glenn Greenwald nails it in his latest column for The Guardian:
It’s a potent sign of how low the American political bar is set that gratitude is expressed because a US president says he will ask Congress to vote before he starts bombing another country that is not attacking or threatening the US. That the US will not become involved in foreign wars of choice without the consent of the American people through their representatives Congress is a central mandate of the US Constitution, not some enlightened, progressive innovation of the 21st century. George Bush, of course, sought Congressional approval for the war in Iraq (though he did so only once it was clear that Congress would grant it: I vividly remember watching then-Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Joe Biden practically begging the Bush White House to “allow” Congress to vote on the attack while promising in advance that they would approve for it).
But what makes the celebratory reaction to yesterday’s announcement particularly odd is that the Congressional vote which Obama said he would seek appears, in his mind, to have no binding force at all. There is no reason to believe that a Congressional rejection of the war’s authorization would constrain Obama in any way, other than perhaps politically. To the contrary, there is substantial evidence for the proposition that the White House sees the vote as purely advisory, i.e., meaningless.
Recall how – in one of most overlooked bad acts of the Obama administration – the House of Representatives actually voted, overwhelmingly, against authorizing the US war in Libya, and yet Obama simply ignored the vote and proceeded to prosecute the war anyway (just as Clinton did when the House rejected the authorization he wanted to bomb Kosovo, though, at least there, Congress later voted to allocate funds for the bombing campaign). Why would the White House view the President’s power to wage war in Libya as unconstrainable by Congress, yet view his power to wage war in Syria as dependent upon Congressional authorization?
Let’s face it, nothing is going to stop this from happening. The added time between Barry’s Rose Garden exercise in the bullshit dispersal on Saturday and the coming congressional ‘debate’ and subsequent vote only gives those with the most to gain from this war more time to manufacture additional outrage. Perhaps another sarin gas attack or two is in the offing. There is nothing quite like the exploitation of dead children that tugs on the heartstrings of gullible Americans who too easily offer up a meek consent of the governed along with the willingness to entrust their cynical leaders to undertake state atrocities in their name. They would have made good Germans..
