Iran-Contra Figure Behind Fox News Exclusive Bergdahl as "Jihadist" Tale

The latest attack in the week long rampage by right-wing fanatics to politicize the Obama trade with the Taliban for prisoner of war Bowe Bergdahl predictably has been launched by Fox News which is portraying the soldier as a secret jihadist and a terrorist. One has to love the way that Fox and friends truly support the troops and were Sgt. Bergdahl's release to have been secured by Senators McCain and Graham the patriotic hogwash would have been as overwhelming as the smearing of Obama for his failure to do so. This latest slime job comes with an interesting twist though in that the information was provided by another of those Iran-Contra figures that keep turning up like the proverbial bad penny. The Fox scoop - entitled "EXCLUSIVE: Bergdahl declared jihad in captivity, secret documents show" paints the American serviceman as a sort of a sinister Muslim Manchurian candidate which meshes nicely with the now six years running narrative that President Barack Obama himself is running the secret operational headquarters of the new Islamic caliphate out of the White House basement and is further evidence of just how Republicans and conservatives are the most gullible (and stupid) species in America these days.

I have always loved the politically correct term for abject morons being "low information voters" but the opening line to this extravaganza is truly one for the ages:

U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl at one point during his captivity converted to Islam, fraternized openly with his captors and declared himself a "mujahid," or warrior for Islam, according to secret documents prepared on the basis of a purported eyewitness account and obtained by Fox News.

The reports indicate that Bergdahl's relations with his Haqqani captors morphed over time, from periods of hostility, where he was treated very much like a hostage, to periods where, as one source told Fox News, "he became much more of an accepted fellow" than is popularly understood. He even reportedly was allowed to carry a gun at times.

One really not bother reading any further than "according to secret documents prepared on the basis of a purported eyewitness account and obtained by Fox News" to immediately identify this story as total bullshit of the most malodorous nature. To any legitimate news outlet this sort of tale could end careers but it particularly appeals to the angry and aging demographic that Fox targets despite the fact that they continue to drop like flies with each election cycle. But it gets even better as I excerpt again from the Fox "EXCLUSIVE":

The reports are rich in on-the-ground detail -- including the names and locations of the Haqqani commanders who ran the 200-man rotation used to guard the Idaho native -- and present the most detailed view yet of what Bergdahl's life over the past five years has been like. These real-time dispatches were generated by the Eclipse Group, a shadowy private firm of former intelligence officers and operatives that has subcontracted with the Defense Department and prominent corporations to deliver granular intelligence on terrorist activities and other security-related topics, often from challenging environments in far-flung corners of the globe.

The group is run by Duane R. ("Dewey") Clarridge, a former senior operations officer for the Central Intelligence Agency in the 1980s best known for having been indicted for lying to Congress about his role in the tangled set of events that became known as the Iran-Contra scandal. He was pardoned by the first President Bush in December 1992 while on trial.

Let's see now, a "shadowy private firm of former intelligence officers and operatives" named 'The Eclipse Group" headed by yet another one of these former insiders parlaying their connections into fleecing the American taxpayer by providing total horseshit that justifies more of the same insider crony looting of the system. This is the way that is it with wars in that they attract legions of grifters and flim-flam artists as so many maggots feasting on a decaying dog carcass. Duane Clairridge in particular is a legendary nut case, who during the Reagan administration's murderous incursions into Central America was the man who was put in charge of the show by former CIA director William Casey (who conveniently was rendered incapable of speech by a rain tumor a mere hours before he was to have testified to Congress on Iran-Contra and subsequently died) and who as is summed up in Oliver Stone and Peter Kuznick's"The Untold History of the United States" as follows:

"He installed Duane Clarridge to head the Latin American division. Clarridge was the perfect foil. He knew nothing about Latin America, having never worked in the region, and spoke no Spanish"
Which of course makes him the perfect sort of authority to be trotted out on Fox News despite his being indicted for perjury along with several of his fellow felons - including the ubiquitous neocon manipulator Elliott Abrams - by President George HW Bush on Christmas Eve in 1992. Dewey Clarridge is a natural hero for Fox viewers as his classic hostile interview with Australian journalist John Pilger makes evident. Hey, the man was instrumental in the war crime of themining of Nicaraguan harbors - a violation of international law and as damned unapologeticabout it as Ollie North was in narcotics and weapons trafficking to support the murderers that Reagan himself once lovingly referred to as "the moral equivalent of our Founding Fathers".

As for Clarridge's private intelligence operation "The Eclipse Group" is described in a 2011 New York Times story entitled "Former Spy With Agenda Operates a Private C.I.A.":

Duane R. Clarridge parted company with the Central Intelligence Agency more than two decades ago, but from poolside at his home near San Diego, he still runs a network of spies.
Over the past two years, he has fielded operatives in the mountains of Pakistan and the desert badlands of Afghanistan. Since the United States military cut off his funding in May, he has relied on like-minded private donors to pay his agents to continue gathering information about militant fighters, Taliban leaders and the secrets of Kabul's ruling class.

Hatching schemes that are something of a cross between a Graham Greene novel and Mad Magazine's "Spy vs. Spy," Mr. Clarridge has sought to discredit Ahmed Wali Karzai, the Kandahar power broker who has long been on the C.I.A. payroll, and planned to set spies on his half brother, the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, in hopes of collecting beard trimmings or other DNA samples that might prove Mr. Clarridge's suspicions that the Afghan leader was a heroin addict, associates say.

Mr. Clarridge, 78, who was indicted on charges of lying to Congress in the Iran-contra scandal and later pardoned, is described by those who have worked with him as driven by the conviction that Washington is bloated with bureaucrats and lawyers who impede American troops in fighting adversaries and that leaders are overly reliant on mercurial allies.

His dispatches -- an amalgam of fact, rumor, analysis and uncorroborated reports -- have been sent to military officials who, until last spring at least, found some credible enough to be used in planning strikes against militants in Afghanistan. They are also fed to conservative commentators, including Oliver L. North, a compatriot from the Iran-contra days and now a Fox News analyst, and Brad Thor, an author of military thrillers and a frequent guest of Glenn Beck.

It must be nice to be able to run a private intelligence service from poolside - it's not a gig that most would be able to land but if you are a credentialed crook, perjurer and right-wing ideologue with references from Lt. Colonel Oliver North to the aforementioned Abrams it is pretty easy to feed like a blood-sucking leech off of the taxpayer dole. The Fox News "EXCLUSIVE" was immediately dealt a blow when retired CENTCOM chief General James Mattis denounced it as the baseless piece of garbage that it is. A weekend story in The Tampa Tribune (the home city of CENTCOM) by Howard Altman says as much. I excerpt from the story entitled "Mattis: No evidence of Bergdahl collusion with Taliban":

During his time in Tampa as commander of U.S. Central Command, Marine Gen. James Mattis said he saw no evidence to confirm that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, released in a prisoner swap last week, collaborated with his captors.

"I have never seen one bit of verified or confirmed evidence of that," Mattis said in a phone interview with The Tampa Tribune. "Not one bit. You hear things and it was second- and third-hand."
Other information "specifically discounted" reports that Bergdahl, captured by the Taliban in June 2009 after leaving his outpost in Afghanistan, was working with his captors, he said. Mattis declined to comment on what that information was because it remains classified.
Mattis led the MacDill Air Force Base-headquartered command from August 2010 to March 2013, when he retired after a storied career. Mattis was asked to comment on a report by Fox News that a group run by Duane R. "Dewey" Clarridge, a former senior operations officer for the CIA, provided situation reports to Centcom showing Bergdahl was working with his captors at points during his five years as a prisoner. Clarridge, who gained notoriety in the 1980s after being indicted for lying to Congress about his role in the Iran-Contra scandal, was a civilian contractor at the time.

In the Fox News story, Mattis made similar comments discounting the notion that, according to Fox, "Bergdahl had evolved into an active collaborator with the Haqqani network or the Taliban."
The Fox News story says information about Bergdahl converting to Islam, fraternizing openly with his captors and declaring himself a "mujahid," or warrior for Islam, came from a source new to Clarridge's Eclipse Group "whose trustworthiness had not been fully vetted by the group. However, the report stated, the informant "does have plausible access to the information reported."

AND

The Pentagon "is not aware of any contract, subcontract or otherwise" between SOLIC and the Eclipse Group, Cmdr. Amy Derrick-Frost, Defense Department spokeswoman, said late Friday afternoon. Clarridge declined comment. Public affairs staff for Ashley, since promoted to major general and now serving as the commanding general of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence & Fort Huachuca, did not respond to a call for comment from the Tribune. Officials from Centcom did not respond to requests for comment and officials from Fox News did not immediately respond to a call and email late Friday afternoon.

Mattis, who took command of Centcom a little more than a year after Bergdahl's disappearance, told the Tribune that Clarridge's reports "were simply one bit of information coming in. You do your normal due diligence. We found nothing to support it."

The Pentagon statement denying knowledge of "contract, subcontract or otherwise" should be viewed with the usual skepticism that the American war machine should be subjected to but that they are commenting on this at all shows just how toxic that Duane "Dewey" Clarridge is. So goes the latter years of the career of a loose cannon who was associated with one of the most flagrant violations of the United States Constitution of the 20th Century that was Iran-Contra. If the Pentagon won't admit any funding of "The Eclipse Group" that subsidizes Duane Dewey Clarridge's ability to spend his waning days poolside rather than in the prison cell in which he belongs then who really is providing the funding- that is an interesting question that begs an answer.

That this is even taken seriously at all is a sad indictment of our current national state of decline. Americans, at least a good amount of them are at the point where they are so brainwashed and cast adrift in fantasy worlds that the crap that they see on television and reality are bleeding over. Evidence of this are the comparisons of Bowe Bergdahl to the Muslim terrorist sleeper "Brody" in Showtime's smash hit Homeland series. In terms of politics and the ongoing manipulation of the angry white lynch mob demographic it also builds on the original attacks of Barack Obama as a secret Muslim who was embedded within the American power structure to transform the USA!, USA!, USA! into a country ruled by Sharia law where white Christians would be transformed into slaves for Allah with their straw bosses being Obama's militant Negro Gestapo ACORN. It would be a great dark comedy if it was not so terrifyingly real.

Being an election year this is only the beginning of the tsunami of anti-Muslim demagoguery that will be invoked by Republicans conducting their own jihad against America.

Democrat-Republican Warmongers Unite to Crush Antiwar Rand Paul

Perhaps the greatest hoax in the toxic sewage lagoon that is the political system of The Homeland circa 2014 is that there is no such thing as bipartisanship. Bullshit! While the ongoing con job that is staged for public consumption of the irreconcilable differences between Team Red Elephant and Team Blue Jackass is what passes for conventional wisdom in the state-corporate media and as such is eaten up by the rubes and low-information types that comprise the vast majority of the American electorate the truth is pretty clear to any who want to see. Both American political parties (any others are completely shut out of the phony democratic process) are nothing more than dueling factions of a criminal syndicate and there is ALWAYS agreement on certain issues. For example, the mass warrantless surveillance of millions of law abiding Americans, the ongoing redistribution of wealth to the top fractional one percent, the ongoing fleecing of the American taxpayer to continue to underwrite the criminal scams of the untouchable gamblers on Wall Street and the support of all wars both foreign and domestic. Oh, and there is the bipartisan effort to destroy prospective Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul that is now as the economic propaganda slogan goes "picking up steam".

With the neoconservative warmongers again ascendant, the incompetent Obama on his way out and either Hillary Rodham-Clinton or some Sheldon Adelson funded Nazi ready to take over the keys to the war machine Senator Paul's anti-interventionist stance, criticism of the NSA Stasi and other the post September 11, 2001 Constitutional wrecking machine and message which is resonating must be stopped at all costs. The neocons are the ultimate parasites and their origins as ideological worshippers of Leon Trotsky were at one time allied with the Democrats until the antiwar movement during the Vietnam era. They jumped to a new host on the rising Ronald Reagan-Bush dynasty GOP and are very close to making the round trip if the warmongering Mrs. Clinton wins the presidency in 2016. The Pauls being Rand and his father Ron - whose courageous stance against the neocons when any opposition to the Bushreich's wars of aggression was shouted down as treason made him a modern American hero - have become public enemy number one for the entrenched two-party gangsters that have seized control of both foreign and domestic policy.

Rand Paul represents exactly what the existing occupiers of the American political system fear the most which is a deviation from their ongoing game of 3 card Monte continually staged on Main Street of a star-spangled Potemkin Village and sold to the suckers as "democracy". God forbid that anyone ever emerge to create a debate on the "New Normal" of the wars and looting of those both foreign and domestic to enrich plutocrats, energy cartels, the global finance mafia and the whores who serve them.

The great libertarian writer Justin Raimondo of Antiwar.com who never hesitates to call out bullshit in high places, hypocrisy and the scoundrels who are passed off as respectable by the corrupt media in their methodical polish a turd with a red, white and blue cheesecloth calls it like it is in his latest piece entitled "The Establishment's War on Rand Paul" from which I excerpt:

The war is on – no, not that war, this war: I’m talking about the GOP establishment’s war on Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, whose presidential campaign has taken wing and soared. And it isn’t just the Karl Roves and Peter Kings of this world who are up in arms over the prospect of an anti-interventionist libertarian in the White House: they’re getting plenty of tactical support from "liberals" like David Corn.

Why do they hate him?

The Rovians hate him because he challenges the whole Fox News-neocon right-wing paradigm that has kept the GOP a dwindling minority party ever since the Bush era ended with a whimper. And when it comes to foreign policy, "politics stops at the water’s edge," as that old reprobate Arthur Vandenberg used to say: left and right are united for the Empire.

In the context of today’s politics, the demographics are different but the principle of "divide and rule" is the same. The "Paul Democrats" and "Paul Independents" are precisely the kind of younger urban voters both Rand and his father have done such a phenomenal job attracting. These are people Democrats have tended to take for granted – and Rand is the first Republican politician since Reagan to challenge them on this terrain. Which is why Democrats like Corn, and the other partisan hacks masquerading as "journalists" – Rachel Maddow comes to mind – have it in for Sen. Paul.

As for the Rovians and their neocon Deep Thinkers, their unappeasable hate for the Senator is due to his last name – and the knowledge that this isn’t really about Rand Paul or any particular person, it’s about a movement that threatens to overtake them. Once John McCain and Peter King stop being the face of the GOP, the Establishment that manipulates the leadership of both parties is in big trouble.

The last thing the Establishment of both parties wants is a 2016 presidential race pitting an anti-interventionist anti-surveillance Republican against the stridently interventionist Hillary, who long ago declared that the Internet needs "gatekeepers." I would argue that of all the potential candidates, it’s Rand Paul who has the best chance of stopping the Clinton Restoration. Jeb Bush as the candidate would make it a clash of dynasties, with the Clintons an easy winner in that kind of contest. Marco Rubio has limited appeal, and by the time the primaries get going will be polling in the vicinity of John Bolton. Chris Christie is over. David Petraeus, once a neocon favorite, is in disgrace: you only get to have that kind of fun after you’re safely elected. So who’s left?

Yes, the increasingly odious Ms. Maddow over at MSNBC the Obama apologist network. While I always have viewed Rachel Maddow with a somewhat jaundiced eye, particularly since she like Minnesota Senator Al Franken emerged not only unscathed from the wreckage of liberal radio network Air America. While serious critics of US policy and the entire corrupt system like Mike Malloy and Randi Rhodes were exiled Maddow and Franken saw their fortunes improve dramatically when the network collapsed. Their prominent positions today would seem to indicate at best a tendency to sell out a cause, go establishment or cash in or in layman's term become RATS.

I have followed the work of Maddow for a good while now and while talented, the pride of MSNBC is nothing more than a shill for the corrupt ruling political class. Her show is regularly devoted to nothing more than the promulgating of DNC talking points, playing the identity politics card (she is openly gay) to demonize the Republican party - largely through her cherry picking of the most racist, white-supremacist, ignorant religiously obsessed morons - to shill for corporate sellout Democrats. What a sad demise for a woman who actually has talent but now as is apparent zero principles beyond whoring herself out for her defense contractor employer and the Democratic party. Hell, she actually makes Roger Ailes look honorable in a perverse sort of way, after reading what has been pretty much called a hit-piece "The Loudest Voice in the Room" I can say that the man at least has some sort of values system - as largely repugnant as it often is which is something that Ms. Maddow and the rest of the war party winged monkeys that are now being scrambled for an attack on Rand Paul are lacking.

Hillary Surfaces and Compares Putin to Hitler

With the restoration of the corrupt Clinton family dynasty looming the likely successor to Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham-Clinton has played the obligatory Nazi card in joining in on the Putin pile on.  Mrss Clinton made her remarks comparing Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler during a private appearance in California, taken along with similar off the cuff statements in non-public settings by SCOTUS Justice Antonin Scalia (internment camps) and former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney (screw half of the country) it is a window into the very deranged mindset of the American elite. The invocation of the long dead fanatical Nazi dictator is a winner whenever it is time for the rogue American war machine to crank up for another illegal intervention into the affairs of another country. It is always a must to ensure that the leader of an enemy country be thoroughly demonized so more meddling in foreign lands can be sold to the star-spangled lemming flock who are slowly being beggared by the money directed at world domination by the government agents of a rapacious, degenerate looter class - this case being the global financial mafia that Clinton serves and will continue to serve as she takes up residence in the White House come January 2017.

The neocons truly cherish the WW II references, especially those invoking Der Führer or the sainted Sir Winston when making their case for the ongoing series of blatant acts of raw aggression and subversion of democratically elected governments that have become as American as apple pie over the last sixty or so years but why not Stalin? It is really not arguable that Russian tyrant Joseph Stalin was responsible for more dead bodies than Hitler ever was but with a deep seated aversion to real history thanks to willful ignorance, the effects of incessant propaganda, the state indoctrination of an America centric glorified revisionist history and the ongoing dumbing down process it would be a tough sell. I would imagine that the majority of Americans have absolutely no idea who Stalin was but thanks to the neocons and their media lie factories everyone understands Hitler - actually some dumbass had a letter published in yesterdays edition of my local paper entitled "Adolph Putin".  Still it is a cheap political gimmick to constantly play the Nazi card and far more than a bit hypocritical considering that the U.S. backed putsch in Ukraine has relied on neo-Nazi militias to back the hostile takeover in Kiev.

Conveniently absent from any of the American establishment media's ongoing shock and awe carpet bombing of raw propaganda demonizing Putin and lying about the nature of what happened in Ukraine has been any mention at all of the fascists, extreme right-wing nationalists and neo-Nazis that were essential to the ouster of the elected president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych . That is until Wednesday when the truth that was managing to seep out thanks largely to the internet and alternative media and the Ukranian neo-Nazis were finally acknowledged - in a smear piece by none other than Fox News where it was dismissed as Putin propaganda. It is highly likely that given the revelations on NSA mass surveillance provided by former government contractor turned whistleblower Edward Snowden that those who converse in such things are being monitored along with supporters of the BDS Movement which the ever more out of touch Israeli despot Bibi Netanyahyu invoked 18 times in his stemwinder at Tuesday's AIPAC 'do you have sufficient loyalty to Israel' litmus test soiree.  The pickup list for when the shit hits the fan will continue to grow as more and more people begin to wise up to the big con that has been played on them by criminals in high places.

Clinton's belated entry into the game comes at a crucial time and is likely a harbinger of her official announcement of the bid for the 2016 Democratic party nomination. She will then roll largely unopposed to the highest office in the land as the Republican party has continued to self-immolate by pandering to the ideological domestic counterparts of Ukraine's Svoboda and Right Sector who with their relentless defense of taking over the powers of the state to enforce a bigoted and insane religious doctrine upon America have rendered them incapable of winning a national election. She is after all the chosen one by the global elite financial syndicate that controls both U.S. political parties but has particularly become entrenched with the Democrats. In an interesting excerpt from Rolling Stone magazine, in a Matt Taibbi piece on the ongoing commodities racketeering by Goldman Sachs and others an old Clinton friend resurfaces. From "The Vampire Squid Strikes Again":

The sudden turning on of this huge faucet of free money seems to have been a factor in an ensuing commodities shopping spree undertaken by all three firms. Morgan Stanley, for instance, claimed to have just $2.5 billion in commodity assets in March 2009. By September 2011, those holdings had nearly quadrupled, to $10.3 billion.

Goldman and Chase – along with Glencore and Trafigura, a pair of giant Swiss-based conglomerates that were offshoots of a firm founded by notorious deceased commodities trader and known market manipulator Marc Rich – all made notably coincidental purchases of metals-warehousing companies in 2010.

The presence of these Marc Rich entities is particularly noteworthy. According to famed Forbes reporter Paul Klebnikov, who was assassinated in 2004 after years of reports on Russian corruption, Rich made a fortune in the early Nineties striking crooked deals with the Soviet bosses who controlled the U.S.S.R.'s supplies of raw materials – in particular commodities like zinc and aluminum. These deals helped create a fledgling class of profiteers among the bosses of the crumbling Soviet empire, a class that would go on years later to help push Russia out of its communist past into its kleptocratic present.

"He'd strike a deal with the local party boss, or the director of a state-owned company," Klebnikov said back in 2001. "He'd say, 'OK, you will sell me the [commodity] at five to 10 percent of the world-market price . . . and in return, I will deposit some of the profit I make by reselling it 10 times higher on the world market, and put the kickback in a Swiss bank account.'"

Rich made these reported deals while in exile from the United States, which he fled in 1983 after the U.S. government charged him with tax evasion, wire fraud, racketeering and trading with the enemy after being caught trading with rogue states like Iran, among other things. The state filed enough counts to put him away for life, and he remained a fugitive until January 2001, when a little-known Clinton administration Justice Department official named Eric Holder recommended Rich be pardoned. A report by the House Committee on Government Reform later concluded that Holder had not provided a credible explanation for supporting Rich's pardon and that he must have had "other motivations" that he didn't share with Congress. Among other things, the committee speculated that Holder had designs on the attorney general's office in a potential Al Gore administration.

In any case, in 2010, a decade after the Rich pardon, Holder was attorney general, but under Barack Obama, and two Rich-created firms, along with two banks that have been major donors to the Democratic Party, all made moves to buy up metals warehouses. In near simultaneous fashion, Goldman, Chase, Glencore and Trafigura bought companies that control warehouses all over the world for the LME, or London Metals Exchange. The LME is a privately owned exchange for world metals trading. It's the world's primary hub for determining metals prices and also for trading metals-based futures, options, swaps and other instruments.

Clinton family intimate Marc Rich? With that being Taibbi's last piece for Rolling Stone as he is moving on to First Look Media to work along with real journalists Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras, Jeremy Scahill, Marcy Wheeler and others who will push the envelope in challenging the rogue American government I can hardly wait for the followup. Mr. Rich along with others looted the former Soviet Union after the collapse and the actions ongoing in Ukraine with the full support of the U.S. government to apply the economic austerity shock doctrine so that the pigs can feast must have his ghost beaming with approval.

Deranged Peter King Accuses NY Times of Terrorist Appeasement

In an epic meltdown the crazed Peter King unloaded on the New York Times for daring to suggest that former government contractor Booz-Allen-Hamilton employee turned NSA leaker Edward Snowden be granted clemency. Long a target of the insane authoritarian demographic that has seized control of the Republican party and conducted a Stalinist style purge of the rational the Times has now become the target of the demagogues pushing to protect their beloved NSA surveillance apparatus. King appeared on Fox News (where else?) in the immediate aftermath of the Times OpEd to spew his rancid bile just as he does when he is conducting his neo-McCarthyist tribunals on taxpayer funds to promote anti-Muslim hatred and stir up fear in order for the surveillance state programs that his type need to go after their massive enemies list. Were King a patriotic American (which he is not) he would use his position as the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security to investigate the enemies within the system that have been waging war on the constitution since September 11, 2001. This country will never fall to foreign enemy despite the hysterics from lunatics like King and his ilk about a Muslim fifth column and the implementation of Sharia Law but it will be eaten from within by the termites that are the fascist thugs and their pathological obsession for control of everything.

The catalogue of King’s fanatic ravings is already voluminous and the second congressional district out on Long Island should do the rest of the country a favor come November and vote this national disgrace of a politician out of office. He should have no problems finding some local beer hall from which to spew his venom from.  The following excerpt is from a story from the ‘Inside Baseball’ beltway website Politico and sums up King’s comments to the Foxosphere:

"Their editorial today and their whole pattern over the last several years, they’ve really made themselves a blame-America-first rag as far as I’m concerned, and why we exalt The New York Times is beyond me," the New York Republican said on Fox News. "They go out of their way to be apologists for terrorists and go after those in law enforcement and military who are trying to win this war."

King, who has long been a defender and proponent of the National Security Agency, called the editors "a disgrace" and said he wishes they "cared more about America than they did about the rights of terrorists' appeasers." King said NSA programs do not violate the privacy of Americans and that lives are saved because of them.

“And yet, The New York Times races to Mr. Snowden’s defense. They don’t care about American lives being lost," King said. "They have this narrow, liberal, left-wing ideological point of view. They did it to the NYPD; they’re trying to do it to the NSA."

"It’s time for Americans to stand up and reject The New York Times and expose them for the rag that they are."

People like this are the reason that Thorazine was invented.

King’s tirade even one upped washed up right-wing pundit Ann Coulter’s anti-NYT comment that “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building”. Interestingly this sort of thinking seems to be quite pervasive with certain personality types to whose deviance only allows them to  recognize violence and repression as an answer to all problems, they actually have a good deal in common with real terrorists.  Peter King himself was for a long time an ardent supporter of actual terrorists, the provisional wing of the Irish Republican Army that murdered innocent women and children.

It could be said that the strongest argument yet to be made for dismantling the NSA programs are the figures who have come out in defense of them. Just as Snowden said, such systems would present a regime with even more contempt for the constitution than Obama or Bush-Cheney to use them for the worst purposes imaginable. Turnkey totalitarianism was the term that I believe that the now obviously patriotic whistleblower used and a man like Peter King were he to have the ability, particularly given his history of virulent anti-Muslim bigotry would relish combing through the data accumulated by the NSA to personally put together the pickup lists and begin the inquisitions.

Godwin’s Law be damned, the only way to truly describe Peter King is that the man is a full blown Nazi.
