Palling Around with Neo-Nazis

 During today's Sunday morning state-corporate media slimefest where anti-Putin hysteria will be the topic du jour there will likely be no questions whatsoever asked as to why the U.S. has backed neo-Nazis in what was obviously a western orchestrated coup against the democratically elected leader of Ukraine.  One of the ‘guests’ will probably be the fiendish Arizona Senator John McCain, a crazed warmonger and longtime Russia hater who is foaming at the mouth for another opportunity to send American military men and women into harm’s way as blood sacrifices for eternal war. McCain’s garbage and the state media embrace of a deranged old man as some sort of elder statesman illustrates the now complete rot of the American political system.

The neocons were barely finished jacking each other off over their devious plot to strike back at their personal bogeyman Russian leader Vladimir Putin while he was distracted with the Sochi Olympic games by backing a fascist coup in Ukraine when Putin obtained permission from the Russian parliament to send military forces into the border country which he understandably did. The latest scheme from the PNAC gang has just gone up like a flaming bag of dogshit in their bloodstained hands just like the invasion of Iraq did. You would figure that such a motley collection of pseudo intellectuals, rank weasels, fools, chickenhawks and cheapjack Machiavellian wannabes would at some point face the mockery that they deserve, an exile from their media spokesperson gigs and a purge from every institution in which they can have any influence over U.S. policy. But as has been painfully evident for years now this once great country has gone insane, and criminally so therefore the usual scum will be making the rounds on Meet the Press, Fox News Sunday, Face the Nation, State of the Union and This Week with George Stephanopoulos on the rancid ‘news’ shows from which the weekly spin is launched.

The entire establishment media has yet to bother mentioning that the coup d’etat that sent Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych fleeing in fear of his life was heavily dependent on the support of extremist neo-Nazi elements that western agitators not only embraced but supported. None other than Senator John McCain made a pilgrimage to Kiev to rub elbows with the rabble that dressed up in Medieval garb, set the streets on fire, murdered police officers and executed the putsch. One of McCain’s neo-Nazi chums was Svoboda party member Oleh Tyahnybok with whom the globe-trotting epitome of the ‘ugly American’ was photographed with during his visit to throw his support behind the insurrectionists. This is not the first time that McCain has made an ass out himself in such a manner, having recently been embarrassed by a photo with criminal elements of the anti-Assad Syrian rebel forces. Just a hint to the Sunday morning mouthpieces of imperial conquest and that is when the United States of America finds itself supporting neo-Nazis, full blown fascists and al Qaeda affiliated militants in the push for planetary domination it has officially lost any last vestige of moral high ground.

But it is not as though the best and the brightest in our most exceptional of nations has had an aversion to dealing with Nazis in the past - real ones at that. A new book by Annie Jacobson "Operation Paperclip" chronicles the post-war importation of Nazi scientists including serious war criminals into the U.S. where they would continue their research but would be collecting their paychecks from the American taxpayer instead of the Third Reich. There was also the matter of the Gehlen Org. where U.S. intelligence assimilated Hitler's commander of Eastern intelligence, General Reinhard Gehlen and his Nazi cohorts to lead the crusade against the red menace. Gehlen was grateful to the extent that he consistently supplied the inflated intel and cooked numbers that ensured that the big money would continue to roll in for the permanent armaments industry. There is also the matter of Wall Street firms including the venerable Sullivan & Cromwell where the Dulles brothers schemed as well as Prescott Bush whose Union Banking Corporation which was actually shut down under the Trading With the Enemy Act - that Allen Dulles was instrumental in creating the CIA as well as supporting Nazis and that Bush was the father and grandfather of two future U.S. Presidents is indicative of the abdication of any type of morality that one must assume to rise to the top in the American establishment.

The disturbing thing about the neo-Nazis in Ukraine is not so much that the state-corporate media will not bother to acknowledge it but that very few people would likely care thanks to the effectiveness of the brainwashing that has gone on since Putin intervened to halt the war on Syria. When it gets so bad that even the highly respected sports commentator Bob Costas uses the Olympics as a forum for launching into an anti-Putin diatribe you can see how much effort has gone into this costly and all-encompassing propaganda campaign.

Neocons Crow Over Ukraine Coup d'Etat

With the cherry on top of cake of the epic spree of Russian bashing that the U.S. establishment spewed forth for months during the lead up to the Sochi Winter Olympic games being the weekend coup d'etat that took place in Ukraine the Obama administration and American Neocons engaged in an obscene victory celebration. Returning to his normal Sunday morning bloviation circuit perch Senator John McCain railed against the hated Vladimir Putin from the bully pulpit of CBS's Face the Nation. McCain who has had a burr up his ass since he was shot down over Vietnam and ended up as a guest at the Hanoi Hilton but especially since Putin's September 11, 2013 New York Times Op Ed where he mocked the very concept of American exceptionalism was on the attack this morning as he gleefully contemplated Cold War V.2. Delivering a veiled threat that a cowardly bastard like McCain who can comfortably be assured that he will never have to back it up the venerated Arizona warmonger chortled "If I were Vladimir Putin, I would be little bit nervous" which is probably the case. With the lunatics running the U.S. war machine and their foaming at the mouth NATO toadies itching for the good old days Putin can't be pleased that the west is slowly but methodically encircling Russia, a large country that DOES have nukes.

There was obviously U.S. and European meddling in Ukraine and the timing so that it all fortuitously blew up right before the closing ceremonies of Putin's showcase event calls into question whether it was a coincidence. This is what the CIA and other intelligence agencies do for a living and McCain himself was in Kiev schmoozing with the 'rebels' in December so his glee from pissing in Putin's Olympic party punch bowl comes despite the blood that is on his own hands. Not that such a thing bothers the bloodthirsty old bastard, he has never met a violent situation that he didn't revel in, he may not have been as good when it came to dropping jellied fire from the skies on Vietnamese women and children but he is hell on wheels when it comes to being a professional provocateur. That a prolonged period of civil war and carnage may be coming to Ukraine is all the better for McCain and his connected military industrial complex cronies like Senator Kelly Ayotte who also slithered around on FOX News Sunday to decree that Obama needs to "up his game" in delivering retribution to Putin. What goes unsaid by any of these taxpayer funded psychopaths is that this is all payback first for granting asylum to government contractor turned NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and then sinking their grand war on Syria. Once again we have glaring evidence of exactly why this country is rotten to the core and on the verge of the great collapse - the media never calls bullshit on these professional liars.

When it comes to media bullshit I must admit that I am a bit perplexed over what all of the uproar is about over the FCC’s “newsroom study”. The Obama administration and the corrupt state-corporate media propaganda machine  already do their bidding.  The evidence is overwhelming, especially in light of the shameful anti-Putin jihad that was obviously orchestrated to taint the games and provide ample opportunity to launch a multi-faceted public relations blitz in the domestic media to mount the devil horns on the Russian leader. I excerpt the following from an essay from the liberal weekly The Nation by Stephen F. Cohen entitled "Distorting Russia: How the media represent Putin, Sochi and Ukraine":

The degradation of mainstream American press coverage of Russia, a country still vital to US national security, has been under way for many years. If the recent tsunami of shamefully unprofessional and politically inflammatory articles in leading newspapers and magazines—particularly about the Sochi Olympics, Ukraine and, unfailingly, President Vladimir Putin—is an indication, this media malpractice is now pervasive and the new norm.

There are notable exceptions, but a general pattern has developed. Even in the venerable New York Times and Washington Post, news reports, editorials and commentaries no longer adhere rigorously to traditional journalistic standards, often failing to provide essential facts and context; to make a clear distinction between reporting and analysis; to require at least two different political or “expert” views on major developments; or to publish opposing opinions on their op-ed pages. As a result, American media on Russia today are less objective, less balanced, more conformist and scarcely less ideological than when they covered Soviet Russia during the Cold War.

The history of this degradation is also clear. It began in the early 1990s, following the end of the Soviet Union, when the US media adopted Washington’s narrative that almost everything President Boris Yeltsin did was a “transition from communism to democracy” and thus in America’s best interests. This included his economic “shock therapy” and oligarchic looting of essential state assets, which destroyed tens of millions of Russian lives; armed destruction of a popularly elected Parliament and imposition of a “presidential” Constitution, which dealt a crippling blow to democratization and now empowers Putin; brutal war in tiny Chechnya, which gave rise to terrorists in Russia’s North Caucasus; rigging of his own re-election in 1996; and leaving behind, in 1999, his approval ratings in single digits, a disintegrating country laden with weapons of mass destruction. Indeed, most American journalists still give the impression that Yeltsin was an ideal Russian leader.

Since the early 2000s, the media have followed a different leader-centric narrative, also consistent with US policy, that devalues multifaceted analysis for a relentless demonization of Putin, with little regard for facts. (Was any Soviet Communist leader after Stalin ever so personally villainized?) If Russia under Yeltsin was presented as having legitimate politics and national interests, we are now made to believe that Putin’s Russia has none at all, at home or abroad—even on its own borders, as in Ukraine.

Cohen hits the target on several fronts in that short excerpt primarily that Boris Yeltsin was a filthy, drunken pig who enabled corruption on such a grand scale that he could be a CEO for Goldman Sachs yet the turd of his legacy has regularly been polished by the lickspittle press. He is also on the spot in that Putin has been vilified in a manner not seen since Stalin walked the planet, I am hard pressed to remember another Russian leader being so savagely trashed throughout the Cold War, not even Nikita Kruschev had so much shit thrown at him. Cohen who is a professor emeritus of Russian  studies at New York University as well as Princeton gives some well needed context on the true nature of the problems in Ukraine in this interview on the liberal Democracy Now  Such context is lacking in the establishment media.

Now that the Olympics are finally over at least that particular dead horse can no longer be flogged by mouthpieces for the empire but McCain and Ayotte represent the tip of the spear for the official talking points.  

In a fitting epitaph the "Miracle on Ice II" of the U.S. Olympic men’s hockey team...well it sucks to be them as they were whacked by Finland 5-0 thereby depriving them of even a bronze medal for their troubles. Hell, at this time last week practically the entire media was proclaiming that the shootout win over what was a pretty lousy Russian team was the second coming of fucking Lake Placid. Not that the game would have even made it to the ridiculous bush league shootout had U.S. goalie Jonathan Quick of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings not cheated by kicking the net off of its moorings during a Russian flurry. Fans of the team were understandably pissed and not only accused the U.S. referee of deliberately assisting to rig the game but even after it was over with when some reportedly chanted “make soap out of the ref” at a protest outside of the U.S. embassy.

One could only wish that someone would do such a thing to Senator McCain and rid us all once and forever of that most troublesome man.

Kiev Burns as U.S. Propaganda Mills Churn

The tense situation in Ukraine has just erupted into a mass orgy of violence, the pictures of which are set against the dark winter nights are surreal and astounding. This certainly is a distraction for Russian leader Vladimir Putin who has to this point managed to preside over a damned good show in Sochi - aside from the cheating of U.S. men's hockey team goalie Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings that is. In a fulfillment of the prediction of Texas yahoo Mike McCaul of the House Homeland Security Committee's prediction that "...that something will detonate, something will go off" the proverbial shit has hit the fan in the streets of Kiev.

Months of street protests that started in November after Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych chose to take a deal from Russia, which Ukraine was a part of until the fall of the USSR shunning an alliance with the European Union "detonated" in a melee of bloody violence this week. The latest figures after all Hell broke loose has the death toll at 26 and who knows how many injured as the state police and protesters (according to some accounts many are being paid by the west)  clashed in the latest escalation of what may very well end up being yet another one of those civil wars that have been breaking out - offering U.S. and foreign arms and 'security' corporations a golden opportunity to profit from arming both sides.

This has to make President Barack Obama happy as well as Secretary of Skull and Bones John Kerry and the rest of the stooges of the American war machine who had to endure the humiliation of Putin making them eat a nice big borscht and shit sandwich with his flagrant refusal to back the war in Syria which is now being eased back onto the front burner. Having the current carnage in the streets of Kiev as a bludgeon with to have the U.S. state-corporate media beat Putin over the head during his country's Olympic showcase is a textbook example of psychological warfare and black propaganda. The underlying benefit to Barry and the boys is that they not only get to piss on Putin's Olympic parade but also to roll out the Cold War v.2 demagoguery to further demonize Putin. 

Obama’s Ministry of Propaganda on MSNBC is pushing hard for a ‘humanitarian’ intervention in Ukraine and dishing up the anti-Putin propaganda with a near religious fervor. Last night even the increasingly vile Rachel Maddow, the Baghdad Bob of American cable television took a break from her nonstop bashing of the bullying New Jersey gasbag Chris Christie to fixate on the violence in the streets of Kiev. You know that it is getting bad when HBO's Bill Maher, a serious defender of the warfare/surveillance state calls out MSNBC and particularly Ms. Maddow on their bullshit as being as bad as FOX News with their fixation on "Bridgegate" as being the Democratic party's Benghazi". I can't argue with Maher and I except from the transcript of Maddown's show last night where her 'expert' guest was NBC's Andrea Mitchell, the wife of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan "The Maestro" Greenspan. A man who is complicit in the the economic collapse and subsequent Obama sanctioned rescue of the criminal gamblers on Wall Street.

I excerpt the following from the transcript (read at your own risk as it could induce vomiting):

MADDOW: Andrea, thanks very much for being with us.

ANDREA MITCHELL, MSNBC ANCHOR: You bet.

MADDOW: So, we got this readout tonight of Vice President Biden calling the Ukrainian president in the midst of the street battles going on right there in the capital city in Kiev.

Why, why is it that it`s Vice President Biden calling and not President Obama? Is this something you would expect to happen at a higher level or a lower level? Why him?

MITCHELL: It`s a high level but not the highest level, and in fact,the very fact that Putin has said, stay out of my backyard, would mean it would be almost to much of an out front for President Obama himself to get involved.

One of the issues here has been this tug-of-war between Putin saying this is my territory and the United States saying that we and the E.U. have a vested interest in this. Just look at what`s happening in the streets.

Look at what the pictures you have shown. I mean, these paintings -- they look like paints. They look like  (INAUDIBLE) [I listened and she said "Delacroix"]or something. These look like battles, classic battles.

It doesn`t look real what we`re seeing in the streets of Kiev. Yet, it is all too real. And the deaths are real. And the stakes are very,very high.

And think back to what happened just 24 hours ago. That`s when Putin upped the ante. He said he would guarantee these $2 billion in loans evenas the rebel leaders were in Berlin visiting with Angela Merkel and the

Germans and the E.U., and you know the frustration that America has expressed through Victoria Nuland ["FUCK THE E.U."], the top official for Europe, at the slowness of the European Union to respond with money, to try to balance itand not have Yanukovych, the president of Ukraine, be completely under the thrall of Putin.

But clearly, the students, the others, the protesters and rebel leaders saw Russia offering this loan guarantee as the final blow to them that Yanukovych was indeed going to be in line with Russia and they wouldbe completely frustrated in their efforts to align themselves with the West.

MADDOW: Andrea, these images that we`re showing right now are live. It`s just -- it`s incredible. It`s about 4:00 a.m., as you can see with the time stamp there, local time. But this is happening right now. In terms of looking at the dynamics under way, does the opposition in Ukraine, either the organized opposition in terms of people who are in parliament and so forth, or the opposition leaders in the street, do theywant and expect international help? Do they see the United States as having a range of potential influence here? What are they asking for?

MITCHELL: Well, the rebel leaders have been very much in touch with American and European Union leaders, but the people in streets are not necessarily all connected.You mentioned the fact that there has been some violence. The rebel leaders have lost control of some of the people in the streets. This is not a completely unified situation, as these things never are. But theyhave been remarkably consistent given that this has been happening since December, as you pointed out.

So, the rebel leaders want help from us. They want some force to pull them back from Putin`s grasp. But Putin is not going to negotiate on this.

Lavrov, his foreign minister, made it very clear in the last couple days with the West that they consider this their territory, and it would be as though they were mucking around in Latin America, and you know how we feelabout our territory. They feel that this is not a part of Western Europe. They think that this is part of the former Soviet Union.

Regarding Andrea Mitchell as some sort of hallowed official figure what better example can be made as to the rot and incestuous permutation of power and the media that has taken place in the last few decades. Alan Greenspan's wife indeed, were Maddow a journalist and not a cheerleader and propagandist she might have asked how much that Alan and Andrea's portfolios would benefit from Cold War II.

There are people dying in Ukraine but given the long and storied history of the  dark funding opposition to the democratically elected leaders in countries that don't march to the beat of Uncle Sam's drummer that too often result in revolutions, torture, assassinations, mass murder of civilian dissidents and legitimate political opposition to western backed despots how can anyone possibly buy any of the horseshit that is being spewed by what most of us already know is a thoroughly corrupt media?

But the skulls will keep getting cracked in Kiev as Obama and the U.S. establishment continue to wage their ever expanding proxy war against the hated devil Putin for his original sin of offering amnesty to former government contractor turned NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden; his intervention in the at one time inevitable war on Syria and most of all that column in the New York Times published on the anniversary of that oh so sanctified day September 11th where he called into question the very concept of American exceptionalism.

So the media feeding frenzy continues over  the fortuitous outbreak of violence in the streets of Kiev and the sheer ecstasy of the Russian Olympic hockey team getting knocked out of the medal chase today.
