Chris Christie’s New Jersey: 61 Year Old Grandmother Body Slammed During Traffic Stop

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s performance at last week’s Republican party debate showed that he is all about big government fascism and would be a menace to America were he to win the presidency. Much to our good fortune the big fat bully has about as much chance as a snowball in hell of being elected to national office. He could however end up as Attorney General in a “Jeb!” administration where he would be allowed to trample whatever remains of the U.S. Constitution like a wild elephant that has stumbled across a meth lab.

The big man makes no bones about how much he adores the police state. Whether it be calling for Rand Paul to be hauled in front of a tribunal for opposition to illegal domestic surveillance or vowing to loose the federal government dogs over legal marijuana in Colorado. So it isn't surprising that some cops in Jersey may share his zeal according to a horrific story about how a 61 year old grandmother was put into the hospital after being body slammed during a traffic stop.

The New York Daily News reported on the incident in the piece entitled “Grandmother Body Slammed by New Jersey Cop During Traffic Stop, Family Claims”:

A 61-year-old grandmother is out of the hospital after she was allegedly body slammed by a New Jersey cop during a traffic cop.

Antoniette Dilorio had been placed in a medically-induced coma following Friday's incident in Clark. Officers had stopped her son Fortunato Riga for going through a stop sign when she apparently tried to intervene.

"All of a sudden he grabbed my mother-in-law by the arm, lifted her off her feet in mid-air and slammed her on the ground," Riga's fiancee Crystal Palmieri told ABC. "All you saw was blood pouring out of her face."

Dilorio's front teeth were knocked out and she suffered multiple fractures, NJ.com reported. She was feeling well enough to be released from University Hospital in Newark this week, according to the news website.

Riga was charged with obstruction and the injured Dilorio was hit with obstruction and resisting arrest charges, according to NJ.com.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the incident, and the family is still looking for an explanation. Riga and Palmieri's young son, who is just 5, was in the car.

"My mom is 61 years old, if she weighs 105 pounds it's a lot," Riga told ABC. "They tried saying my mom jumped on the cop's back. My mom grabbed the cop and said 'why are you going after my son like this?'. He was like, shut up boom and just slammed her, she went face first."

The officer was defended by Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso who claimed that the woman jumped on his back but an ex-Marine versus a frail sixty one year old is more than a bit of a mismatch and could be seen by some as excessive force. While Mr. Riga has a history of violations and sounds like more than a little bit of a scumbag, it still isn’t an excuse for pile-driving granny into the pavement. Mayor Bonaccorso seems to be an adherent to the Chris Christie school of “punch you in the face” dispute resolution which only serves to reinforce New Jersey’s stereotype as a state populated with hostile people who act like muscle men for the mob. The governor of course is the biggest one of them all.

NFL Player Sues Florida Cops Over Masturbation Mixup

You have to forgive west central Florida cops for getting their game faces on with former Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston all but certainly coming to the area very soon but they got the wrong guy this time. NFL defensive back Nate Allen who just signed a free agent deal with the Oakland Raiders is suing Fort Myers police for detaining him over allegedly choking the chicken in front of a teen aged girl. In a case of mistaken identity Allen was arrested and held back in February after police responded to reports of a black man in a black truck playing with his private parts.

As reported by the police abuse watchdog website Copblock in the story “NFL Star Nate Allen Sues Fort Myers Police Department”:

Nate Allen, formerly with the Philadelphia Eagles until free agency brought him to the Oakland Raiders this winter, was detained by police in February of this year. A 16 year old girl had called police and stated she saw a person in a black truck driving and masturbating. The police found Allen in his black truck some time after and detained him.

It turns out that Allen was not masturbating in his truck because at the time of the call he was eating dinner at Red Lobster and taking photographs with the staff. Yet, that didn’t stop the police from prematurely releasing the information and putting Allen through some public embarrassment. This wasn’t good for him, since last was the final year of his contract and players have recently lost their jobs for off field antics. Having to negotiate with teams while that potential issue hung over his head obviously was not to his advantage.

While Allen was cleared it was obviously a traumatic experience and could damage his image by causing him to be labeled as one of the thugs, drunks and domestic abusers that the NFL keeps punishing so a simple apology won’t suffice. So he has justifiably filed suit against the Ft. Myers police department.

Despite what is an embarrassing kerfuffle over the Nate Allen ordeal, all police departments within a 150 mile radius of Tampa should be on high alert. The putrid Tampa Buccaneers have the first pick in the NFL draft and are a virtual lock to draft the crab leg stealing, accused rapist Winston who will be rolling down I-75 with millions of dollars and a caravan of his homeys. The famous all nude strip joints on Dale Mabry Highway are likely salivating over the record business around training camp time. So likely are the cops to whom bagging the kingfish from Tallahassee when he inevitably breaks bad will deliver a coveted trophy to be mounted on their precinct wall.

Investigation Opened After Sadistic Texas Cop Lures and Executes Dog

In yet another sick story of a law enforcement officer shooting a beloved family pet another investigation is being conducted by authorities over an alleged dog murder.  The incident took place back in August in Cleburne, Texas and was captured on video by a police body cam. That video is now going viral on the internet. This particular incident is bizarre in that the shooter was apparently making sounds of a non-threatening and even accommodating nature in order to draw the animal closer before he pulled the trigger.

According to a story from the website of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that is entitled “Cleburne police reviewing officer’s shooting of dog”:

Cleburne police are reviewing an incident involving an officer fatally shooting a pit bull that appeared to be aggressive — an event that was captured on video.

On Aug. 10, police responded to a 911 call from a woman who said that she, along with an elderly woman and a baby, were trapped in their car by several pit bulls.

In a news release issued Friday, two months after the dog was shot, police spokeswoman Kelly Summey said, “The city is obviously concerned about the video showing an officer shooting a dog. As is often the case, the short video does not tell the whole story.”

Summey did not return phone calls late Friday afternoon.

Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain said that the video was “bad” and that an internal investigation is underway.

“Obviously, the video is very disturbing, and I am very upset about the video,” he said. “We want to hear the officer’s statement as well as statements from witnesses, but I can assure you that if action needs to be taken, that it will be swift.”

When asked why information was released in October when the shooting took place in August, Cain said, “That is something I would like to know.”

The Cleburne shooting comes on the heels of a recent incident involving Fort Worth Deputy Chief Kenneth Flynn, who faces animal cruelty charges after he shot and killed a German shepherd with his city-issued weapon after the dog killed his cat.

“The officer was using his body camera. The dog was wagging its tail, but we need to look at the dog’s body language,” Cain said.

The dead dog’s owner, like Mayor Cain has questioned that why if the animal was shot in August did an investigation not take place until mid-October? Dallas-Ft. Worth television station WFAA 8 interviewed Amanda Henderson who states  "I see him murdering my puppy, our family... our dog". The likely answer is that the release of the video online made the shooting impossible for the city to ignore any longer.

The cop’s account is that the animal was aggressive but if that were the case couldn’t mace or pepper spray have been used to subdue the animal? Why didn’t the police - with the call being placed specifically over the behavior of the dogs – call in animal control professionals to deal with the situation? In America there are any number of professions where dogs are encountered yet you rarely if ever hear of mailmen, meter readers, appliance repair personnel, leaflet distributors, delivery service employees or pizza carriers opening fire on an animal.

Maybe it’s the uniform and the accompanying allure of being a government enforcer that a percentage of sociopaths and power freaks are drawn to. Such individuals are able to slip through the screening processes and when they inevitably act out cities and counties have a public relations mess and litigation on their hands. Such incidents and worse happen with such frequency now that it is obvious that there is a systemic crisis underway.

The most disturbing aspect is the video itself, where the dog appeared to be lured by the offending cop with kissy sounds and then sent to the great beyond. If that is the case then it is a vile and sadistic act and should result in not only legal action against the City of Cleburne but also disciplinary action against the officer himself.

The phenomenon of cops busting a cap into a furry, four-legged animal is a sign of the times in these days of moral and social decline. This type of behavior coincides with the rise of the American police state after 9/11 and it won't be stopping anytime soon.

This stuff should just not happen in America and fittingly belongs in a banana republic somewhere.

America's Failed Drug War: Georgia Woman Jailed for SpaghettiOs

In another tale of bogus meth madness, Georgia cops arrested and jailed a 23 year old woman because of a suspicion that a residue coated spoon in her car was evidence that she was a drug user. Ashley Gabrielle Huff of Commerce, GA was arrested by Gainesville City police officers during a routine traffic stop after one of the deputy dawgs overreacted in misidentifying the substance on the eating utensil. She was arrested, jailed and then ordered to attend mandatory drug counseling sessions. When she missed a session she was re-arrested and kept in jail for well over a month until the authorities had their Uh Oh SpaghettiOs moment leading to much embarrassment and a likely lawsuit.

Even though the suspected methamphetamine turned out to be one of America's most popular cheap food items, Huff was subjected to a nightmare of legal purgatory of the type that has become commonplace in this once great country. An innocent woman with no criminal record ended up stuck in in jail until  the inept and slower than a glacier crime lab discovered that the mistaken "schedule II substance" was actually dried tomato sauce from a can of Campbell's wonderful pasta treat.

According to the website Police State USA in a story entitled "Woman arrested for possessing spoon covered with dried Spaghettios":

An innocent woman had several months of her life destroyed when she was arrested and charged with a felony because of a spaghetti-encrusted spoon found in her possession.

Ashley Gabrielle Huff, 23, had no criminal history and insisted that “there’s no way in hell” that there could have been any drugs in her possession during a traffic stop in July. Nonetheless, a Gainesville police officer honed in on a spoon that was “on her or near her” in the vehicle in which she was riding as a passenger.

Suspecting that the spoon had drug residue on it, the officer arrested Ms. Huff and charged her with possession of methamphetamines. Even for trace amounts, the charge of possessing “Schedule II substances” Georgia is punishable by 2-15 years in prison.

After her July 2nd arrest, she spend an unconfirmed number of days in jail before she was released and required to attend a number of obligatory drug appointments. When she was unable to make all the appointments, she was rearrested and made to sit in jail from August 2nd until September 18th.

Ms. Huff insisted that she wasn’t a drug user, but had little means with which to defend herself. She relied on a public defender to represent her in court.

Finally in late September, a crime lab analysis revealed that the “residue” on the spoon was not an illegal drug. It was actually tomato sauce from a can of SpaghettiOs, as the woman had claimed all along.

The internet is replete with tales of cops abusing their power in perverse and violent ways these days but the Georgia incident is just rank stupidity as well as an example of Barney Fife style hayseeds who do not belong in the law enforcement profession.

The drug charges against Huff were dismissed according to the story "Meth charge dropped after only spaghetti sauce found on spoon" from the website of The Gainesville Times:

Drug charges have been dropped against a Commerce woman after crime lab analysis confirmed her claim that a spoon she had in a vehicle leading to her arrest did not contain methamphetamine residue but spaghetti sauce.

Ashley Gabrielle Huff, 23, initially was charged with possession of methamphetamine. She maintained the residue on a spoon was spaghetti sauce, not meth.

After the analysis agreed, the charge was dismissed. She was released from the Hall County Jail on Thursday night.

“I think she said it had been SpaghettiOs,” Hall County assistant public defender Chris van Rossem said.

Huff was arrested July 2 by the Gainesville Police Department, suspected of having meth residue on a spoon, van Rossem said.

“From what I understand, she was a passenger in a car and had a spoon on her, near her, and I guess the officer, for whatever reason, thought there was some residue,” he said.

According to the Hall County Comprehensive Justice Information System, Huff had not been charged with any type of felony or drug-related offense prior to the incident.

“She’s maintained all along that there’s no way in hell that’s any sort of drug residue or anything like that,” van Rossem said.

Attempts to obtain the original arrest report from the Gainesville Police were unsuccessful, and van Rossem was unfamiliar with other details related to the arrest. Gainesville Police spokesman Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said the department would defer to the district attorney’s office.

The story also stated that Huff was to have begun  the "process of a plea deal" which speaks to the rampant form of systemic prosecutorial misconduct that is an offshoot of our vast national for profit prison gulag. Chalk up yet another example of the abysmal failure of the war on drugs. The tale of Huff's bogus arrest and imprisonment is now a national story and will hopefully result in the type of shaming that leads to firings of local officials.

You just can't make shit like this up.

White House Petitioned to Declare Police Watchdog as Terrorist Group

The ongoing disintegration of what was once a free country into an authoritarian fascist police state under the helm of El Presidente Barack Obama is now evolving. With Barry exercising the divine right of a king in launching yet another war in the Middle East - without the approval of Congress - the forces of government must be free to operate with total impunity in The Homeland. The war on terror which is now well into its second decade has served to restrict civil liberties, enable a criminal government, justify the expansion of a massive surveillance state and transform a good number of our law enforcement personnel into thugs.

Now I am going to be right up front with my standard disclaimer that not all cops are bad. The vast majority are good people tasked with doing a dangerous and thankless job. But there are increasingly more exceptions in the post 9/11 era. The federal government bears a large brunt of the responsibility for encouraging the locals to militarize through the 1033 Program as well the exertion of fed influence through the proliferation of fusion centers.

With the increase in police brutality and misbehavior there has been a corresponding rise in citizens who are fighting back by telling their stories. This certainly doesn't make the government bullies with the badges happy. The logical conclusion to all of the government repression is that political dissent is going to eventually be criminalized. You can already see the early signs. Take for example the Obama regime's use of the IRS to go after groups affiliated with the so-called tea party or the heavy handed crackdown against the Occupy movement. The way that America is headed is best illustrated in the Ridley Scott science fiction classic Blade Runner.

In an early scene, police Captain Bryant makes the retired cop Deckard (played by Harrison Ford), an offer he can’t refuse in order to lure him back into the fold. Deckard appears to ponder it, tosses off the shot of whiskey that he had been poured and gets up. As he turns to leave, stating that he has had enough, Bryant angrily raises his voice barking “Stop right where you are! You know the score, pal! If you’re not cop you’re little people”. Understanding the gravity of Bryant’s words Deckard warily accepts his return to active duty as a replicant killer for one last job. It has come down to a few very basic but pitch black truths in our militarized fascist police state of the post 9/11 ruins of democracy. There are stark dividing lines between that haves and the have nots, there are elitists and peasants, victors and victims, vampires and cattle and cops and little people.

This mentality is evident in a scary story that police watchdog group, Cop Block at copblock.org is being subjected to a petition drive imploring the government to label it as a "terrorist" organization. According to the website Police State USA in a story entitled "Thousands petition White House to consider ‘Cop Block’ a terrorist group":

This week, anti-accountability agents have created an online White House petition to ask President Obama to “Officially label and classify any variation of ‘CopBlock.Org’ members as Domestic Terrorists with DHS.”

The petition alleges that Cop Block — a group which has evolved into a national grassroots network of activists — is “applauding and encouraging violence towards law enforcement officers and their families” as well as “committing terroristic acts by inspiring, inciting, or taking parts in acts that are designed to take human lives in cold blood for political gain.”

The majority of Cop Block affiliates’ tactics involve recording public servants while on duty and bringing awareness to various abuses committed by police around the country. While perceived as annoying to law enforcers, this author knows of no evidence to support the serious claims that Cop Block supports terroristic acts. The petition provides no examples of said behavior.

The petition might be brushed aside as a stunt, but as of this writing (9/22/2014), it has over received over 2,500 signatures. It has also been promoted by several large police advocacy pages, including Law Enforcement Today, which boasts 360,000 fans on Facebook. Its followers include a plethora of official police department pages.

This appears to be an effort to both encourage the federal government to suppress free speech and to demonize activism through baseless accusation.

Were it not for organizations like Cop Block and others there would not have been the appropriate attention paid to this scumbag, or this one, or this one, or this beating, or this dog shooting, or this incident. Groups like this perform a valuable service in shining a light on those cops who have managed to circumvent screening procedures to abuse their power. This not only is a menace to civil society and the traditional duty of the police "to protect and to serve", but such individuals who use their badges as shields to prey on the society only discredit the millions of good cops who are out there laying it on the line every day.

Once the federal government, particularly the tyrannical Obama regime is able to begin to successfully make it fully acceptable to label opponents of the state as "terrorists" there will be no end to it. 

This should serve as a wake up call to everyone who values the last vestiges of liberty.

California Cop on Leave After Attacking Woman With Baseball Bat

The northern California city of Walnut Creek is the location of a bizarre incident that has landed a local police officer on administrative leave. Gregory Thompson, who is described as a 53 year old police veteran was arrested in August for allegedly attacking a woman in the early morning hours as she walked in a residential area. Not that police brutality is anything to be surprised about in 2014 America, especially with the federal government encouraging more aggressive attitudes by giving away surplus military equipment. What makes the Walnut Creek case an oddity is that officer Thompson was off duty and wearing a mask when the attack took place.

According to a story from the website of Oakland television station KTVU entitled "Walnut Creek officer accused of beating woman with bat":

A man who’d been in charge of upholding the law for three decades is now accused of breaking it.

Richmond police arrested an off-duty Walnut Creek Police Officer for allegedly donning a mask and beating a woman with a baseball bat on August 16. The attack happened around 2 a.m., in a residential neighborhood on Clinton and San Pablo avenues in Richmond.

53-year-old Gregory Thompson has been with the Walnut Creek Police Department for 30 years. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism after the attack.

Neighbors on Clinton Avenue recalled the commotion they heard the morning of the attack, around 2 a.m..

“We'd already gone to bed, kept hearing a banging, thumping noise,” neighbor Carus Culver, said.

Richmond police came to the area after getting several calls from neighbors about a woman screaming

“Police came knocking on our doors,” neighbor Jason Peneyra, said. “They were looking for a suspect.”

That suspect turned out to be Thompson

“A woman came down the street yelling that he had tried to attack her and another woman,” Culver recalled.

Richmond police found Thompson sitting in his car nearby and said he identified himself as a law enforcement officer. Investigators found a mask on the floor of his car and a baseball bat in the trunk.

“It's alarming for a police officer to do that,” Peneyra said. “That's weird. That's really weird.”

But what is even more “weird” is an account from the website of the San Francisco Chronicle that provides additional detail on the contents of Thompson’s car:

Richmond Police Capt. Bisa French says the 53-year-old Thompson was not wearing a police uniform or in a patrol car at the time of the alleged random attack. Officers discovered Thompson inside a car and found a ski mask as well as a baseball bat, two guns and zip ties.

The presence of the "zip ties" adds a particularly kinky element to the story.  If this is what some cops get their kicks out of doing on their off time then it is obvious that there are terrible personality types being attracted to the police profession. In addition to recruitment problems there seems to be an absence of proper training as well as protocol and adequate internal controls are not being implemented. You would think that regular psychological evaluations would be a requirement for police work these days to quickly detect trauma related disorders. Such screenings are badly needed  now that the quaint old slogan of “to protect and to serve” has been tossed away in favor of the unspoken rule of “to search and to destroy”.

This is seriously strange story but alas there will be tales that even stranger forthcoming as America completes the transformation into an authoritarian, fascist police state.

Horrified Wal-Mart Shoppers Watch Cops Beat the Living Crap Out of Man

With the exception of the annual Black Friday door-buster sales, Wal-Mart stores normally aren't the venue for beatings so it was a shock to shoppers watching police pummel a man in the middle of an aisle on Saturday. In  yet another display of escalating police violence, cops in Greenville, South Carolina pursued a man  into the friendly neighborhood Wally World over the weekend and then after chasing him down commenced to pummel him - before they Tasered him. The victim, who by accounts as well as in video footage appeared to be intoxicated, was pursued into the big box store where he was subdued by two officers. One of whom punched the man in the head multiple times despite pleas from Wal-Mart customers to stop, landing up to 20 blows.

According to reports from Greenville television station WSPA-7 in a story posted on their website entitled  "Video Spurs Questions Of Arresting Methods After Deputies Tase Man Inside Walmart":

An arrest Saturday led to some witnesses thinking the arresting officers went a little far.

In a video sent to 7 On Your Side, you can see a man lying on the floor of the Walmart on Whitehorse Road and the deputies attempting to arrest him. Witnesses from the scene felt the officer's actions went too far, but the Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

According to Greenville County Master Deputy Jonathan Smith, deputies responded around 1:00pm Saturday to a call about an intoxicated man outside the Walmart.

He said the first deputy arrived to find the man acting erratic outside the store. The deputy approached the man and tried to speak to him. The man apparently kept repeating "I'm 911" to the deputy before walking away inside the store.

Smith said the second deputy arrived and the decision was made to enter the store and arrest the man. He says the man was resisting enough that a deputy had to use a taser in order to arrest him.

Smith said the man was taken outside the store and transported to a Greenville hospital. Smith said the man is undergoing evaluation to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol or other substances.

Several videos have surfaced of the incident on the internet. Smith says they are reviewing them and will comment further at a later time.

A reasonable person might figure that the nation's police forces would be very careful in the aftermath of incidents in Ferguson, Missouri as well as cognizant to how easy that it is to trigger a public relations nightmare but not the boys in blue in Greenville who are now enjoying their ten minutes of fame.
Robby Soave comments in a blog post at the libertarian website Reason online "Cop Hits Man in the Head 20 Times as Onlookers Plead 'Don't Punch Him No More'":

Once the cops have pinned a non-violent suspect to the ground, how many times are they allowed to punch him in the head? Is it fewer than 20? I would say so, but I'm not a Greenville County, South Carolina, deputy.

Greenville officers approached a man at a Walmart parking lot on Saturday. The man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and didn't respond to police questions or instructions. Eventually, the officers followed the man inside the store, where they attempted to detain him. The deputies claim the man resisted, though video footage of the incident certainly makes said resistance look passive, rather than violent. But once the two cops had the man on the ground, one of them immediately began punching him in the head. I count at least 20 blows.

Onlookers were horrified, and begged the deputies to stop. Many thought the treatment of the man was cruel, according to WSPA.com. "Please don't punch him like that, don't punch him no more," said one witness. (More video footage can be seen here.)

The man was eventually tasered and then taken to the hospital. Police have not given his name or explained what the charges against him are. The department is reviewing the footage, however, to determine whether the deputy acted properly when he punched a helpless man in the head over and over and over again.

Maybe the victim was being an A-hole, was overly obnoxious or just guilty of the cardinal sin of not being sufficiently subservient to the police but the beating is another ugly look at the terrible state of law-enforcement in the post-9/11 iteration of the U.S.A. that is referred to as The Homeland. The South Carolina Wal-Mart thumping would be far less disturbing were it to have just been an isolated incident. Instead it provides  another piece in the much larger mosaic of police violence in America circa 2014.

The beatings, tear gassing, Taser attacks, body cavity violations (including anal probes) and obvious setups have now become all too frequent in American law enforcement. I know that there are good cops out there - and seeing crap like this must really piss them off - but the system itself is badly broken. We can see it on a daily basis and unless there is a national effort to demilitarize the police and enforce accountability we are all going to wake up one day in a fully fascist state. The analogy of the "boiling frog" has never been more evident nor as relevant to American society as it is today.

Cop Kills Wyoming Police Department's Own Dog

Chalk up yet another dead dog onto the scoreboard of animals killed by police in this sick new era of search and destroy law enforcement. Usually the furry, four-legged victims are shot and killed execution style, often in front of the owners in overly aggressive raids. Some times at the wrong address and others during trespassing as in a recent incident in Chicago. This time however, it was just plain stupidity as a police officer from a hick Wyoming town called Mills left the department's own K9 animal locked in a police vehicle to suffocate on a summer day.

Details are provided in a  report from the website of the Casper Star-Tribune that is entitled "Mills police officer faces charge in death of K9 left in hot car":

A Mills police officer faces an animal cruelty charge following the death of a police dog that he allegedly left in a hot patrol car for several hours.

Zachary Miller, who has been with the police department for four years, is charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty in connection with the death of K9 officer Nyx, a drug detection dog.

The officer left the dog in his patrol car for more than six hours while the vehicle was parked outside the police department, according to an investigator's affidavit filed in Natrona County Circuit Court. The car was running, but the air conditioning was off and the windows were up.

“It’s not normal to leave a car running that long,” said Mills police chief Bryon Preciado. “I’m not justifying it. He shouldn’t have been here that long.”

Preciado said there is no policy on the time frame for leaving police dogs in patrol cars.

The affidavit states Miller arrived at the police department at 5:30 a.m. on July 9. Miller left shortly after to respond to a call with the only other officer working that day, Jake Bigelow. The two returned to the police department with Nyx in the vehicle about 6 a.m.

The officers went inside the department, leaving the dog in the car, and did not return to the car until about 12:20 p.m. The outside temperature had gone from 53 to 86 degrees, according to the affidavit. Police dogs are allowed inside the station, Preciado said.

During the time the officers were inside Miller was training Bigelow on patrol-duty procedures. Miller is no longer a training officer, Preciado said.

The story of the broiling of poor Nyx is indicative of some of the low-grade types that police work often attracts as well as a reflection of poor training. If officer Miller was indeed involved in "training" another officer the only thing that was taught was how not to treat a department and public asset as well as how to kill a dog. The negligence in the animal's death is not only embarrassing but a waste of taxpayer dollars. This is something that is more often seen by some mouth-breathing moron of the type that leaves their own children in hot vehicles for extended periods of time, which like actual police shootings of dogs happens all too frequently in our star-spangled Idiocracy.

This sad and lamentable tale of the stupidity of an agent of the government has drawn widespread attention. Reuters reports on it "Wyoming officer charged over death of police dog in hot car", it is in The Guardian "Officer charged in hot-car death of police dog", the New York Daily News "Wyoming cop charged with animal cruelty after death of K9 dog left in hot squad car" and dozens of other sources. The Casper Star-Tribune also reports on protests by animal rights activists "Protesters call for action after death of Mills K9 officer Nyx" who should perhaps be a bit more visible during an actual "puppycide" pet assassination than an egregious act of idiotic negligence such as this.

The War at Home: We Are the Enemy in State of Undeclared Martial Law

It needs to be noted right off the bat that John Whitehead isn’t exactly a weepy, bleeding-heart, Obama supporting,  liberal whiner. It was after all his Rutherford Institute that provided legal assistance to Paula Jones in her lawsuit against the sexual depravity of former president Bill Clinton.  The man has serious gravitas as a conservative so when he comes out with a blistering critique of the militarized police state it merits paying attention.  With the now typical divisiveness that only benefits the elite that is arising out of the events in Ferguson, Missouri splitting the country into warring factions yet again, Whitehead hits the target on the most important of all issues. The transformation of America into a nascent totalitarian police state.

Mr. Whitehead has for years been writing of the dangers of incipient American fascism and smacks it out of the ballpark in his latest piece entitled "Turning America Into a War Zone, Where ‘We the People’ Are the Enemy" in which he writes:

What Americans must understand, what we have chosen to ignore, what we have fearfully turned a blind eye to lest the reality prove too jarring is the fact that we no longer live in the “city on the hill,” a beacon of freedom for all the world.

Far from being a shining example of democracy at work, we have become a lesson for the world in how quickly freedom turns to tyranny, how slippery the slope by which a once-freedom-loving people can be branded, shackled and fooled into believing that their prisons walls are, in fact, for their own protection.

Having spent more than half a century exporting war to foreign lands, profiting from war, and creating a national economy seemingly dependent on the spoils of war, we failed to protest when the war hawks turned their profit-driven appetites on us, bringing home the spoils of war—the military tanks, grenade launchers, Kevlar helmets, assault rifles, gas masks, ammunition, battering rams, night vision binoculars, etc.—to be distributed for free to local police agencies and used to secure the homeland against “we the people.”

It’s not just the Defense Department that is passing out free military equipment to local police. Since the early 1990s, the Justice Department has worked with the Pentagon to fund military technology for police departments. And then there are the billions of dollars’ worth of federal grants distributed by the Department of Homeland Security, enabling police departments to go on a veritable buying spree for highly questionable military-grade supplies better suited to the battlefield.

Is it any wonder that we now find ourselves in the midst of a war zone?

We live in a state of undeclared martial law. We have become the enemy.

In a war zone, there are no police—only soldiers. Thus, there is no more Posse Comitatus prohibiting the government from using the military in a law enforcement capacity. Not when the local police have, for all intents and purposes, already become the military.

In a war zone, the soldiers shoot to kill, as American police have now been trained to do. Whether the perceived “threat” is armed or unarmed no longer matters when police are authorized to shoot first and ask questions later. 

Interestingly and very ominously, the divisiveness over the shooting of the unarmed teenage thug Michael Brown and the overwhelming response of militarized police to protests are not only splitting into the standard black versus white. We are increasingly seeing a division between those who find it acceptable and actually preferential to live under the red, white and blue jackboot of apple pie authoritarianism and those who are finally, like John Whitehead, saying that enough is enough.

The Whitehead piece riffs off of an article gone viral, written by a Los Angeles police veteran named Sunil Dutta who has now become the poster boy for the American police state. In the piece, Dutta proclaims that “If you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you." It is the ultimate declaration of the blue supremacy that has metastasized through American law-enforcement like a cancer. Dutta's declaration of police godhood ran in the Washington Post and is entitled "I’m a cop. If you don’t want to get hurt, don’t challenge me."

The piece has drawn both deserved condemnation as well as praise from those who have a skewed idea of what it is to live in a free country with a system of legal checks and balances. No matter how much that the U.S. Constitution has been gutted by Clinton, Bush and Obama it is still the only document that truly matters if we are to still live in that shining city on the hill as President Ronald Reagan liked to refer to America.

More terrifying than the militarized police and the "undeclared state of martial law" that Rutherford refers to is that so many are lining up in lockstep unity behind the government goon squads. There will always be those who support the hard-liners, skull-crackers, knuckle-draggers and whichever alpha male politician emerges from the pack to lead them. There is a certain percentage of those who are prone to authoritarianism in every society. These types have been chronicled in many a work including Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer" of which President Dwight D. Eisenhower reportedly was a fan. Ike truly understood the dangers of fascism from a real first hand perspective as the Supreme Commander of the American forces that defeated the Nazis. He also understood the menace of the Military Industrial Complex which he famously warned of in his farewell address - the American police state is the bastard child of this.

The true believers, the authority worshippers and the adherents of the cult of the uniform are of particular danger in these twisted times but even worse are the apathetic and clueless Americans, the sheeple as they are often referred to. Whitehead also addresses them in  "Turning America Into a War Zone, Where ‘We the People’ Are the Enemy":

You see, what Americans have failed to comprehend, living as they do in a TV-induced, drug-like haze of fabricated realities, narcissistic denial, and partisan politics, is that we’ve not only brought the military equipment used in Iraq and Afghanistan home to be used against the American people. We’ve also brought the very spirit of the war home.

This is what it feels like to be a conquered people. This is what it feels like to be an occupied nation. This is what it feels like to live in fear of armed men crashing through your door in the middle of the night, or to be accused of doing something you never even knew was a crime, or to be watched all the time, your movements tracked, your motives questioned.

This is what it’s like to be a citizen of the American police state. This is what it’s like to be an enemy combatant in your own country.

So if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, by all means, stand down. Cower in the face of the police, turn your eyes away from injustice, find any excuse to suggest that the so-called victims of the police state deserved what they got.

But remember, when that rifle finally gets pointed in your direction—and it will—when there’s no one left to stand up for you or speak up for you, remember that you were warned.

The window of opportunity to stop - or at least slow the momentum of the juggernaut - is rapidly closing. People should heed the warnings of patriotic Americans such as John Whitehead instead of sitting on their couches and just tuning out. It will be too late when their doors are kicked down by militarized police shock troops in the middle of Dancing With the Stars.
