More than anything else, the failure of nearly all of America’s institutions – rotted through with moral corruption - signals the coming downfall of a once great country gone to seed. Rome itself went through an extended period of sleazy decadence before the empire finally collapsed in upon itself and we are on well the way there now. Thanks to the lamentable two terms of Barack H. Obama in the White House and his managing to make even a retard like fucking George W. Bush look good in retrospect we have now rounded the curve of the downtrend of American society and are careening towards the collapse. This is late stage capitalism turned in upon itself and it reminds me of that old Stephen King short story "Survivor Type" where the dude is shipwrecked on a deserted island and has to hack off and eat parts of his own body in order to survive.
The recent news that the beloved comedian and actor Bill Cosby may been a cruel and vile serial rapist of the worst type is the latest example of how idols have dropped like flies in this new American century. There are many other examples as well. Take Joe Paterno who was for decades viewed as the very avatar of morality as head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. It turned out that Paterno was guilty of turning his back on a heinous child molestation scandal involving a longtime top coach, Jerry Sandusky that could have cost the university millions in television and athletic program money. Paterno died in disgrace, a broken man and the Cosby situation eerily mirrors that of Jo Pa but that is just the way we roll anymore.
It is hard to think of any institution in this country that has not been sullied by greed, immorality, big government corruption and the filth that regularly gets vomited up out of the electronic crack pipe that is television. We are a meaner, dumber and more self-centered nation than ever before in history and we can largely thank our elites and the failed political system for it all. Now as we approach Thanksgiving Day perhaps we can take a look at how truly little that there is to be thankful for , that is unless you are one of the lucky shoppers who will be first in line for this year's Black Friday doorbuster sales.
So in recognizing the coming nadir of the American empire that our putrid leadership and thoroughly debauched culture have led to I would like to recommend an article featured at the libertarian website Zero Hedge. I excerpt from the piece, which is entitled “10 Examples Of The Social Decay That Is Eating Away At America Like Cancer”:
It isn’t just our economy that is crumbling. Something is happening to America that no amount of money will be able to fix. Everywhere around us we can see evidence of the social decay that is systematically eating away at the foundations of our society. It can be found on the streets of our inner cities, in dark basements in extremely rural communities, in the most prestigious boardrooms on Wall Street, and definitely in the halls of power in Washington. Bringing in an entirely different crop of politicians or printing gigantic mountains of money is not going to solve this problem, because it exists in the hearts of millions of ordinary men and women. The truth is that we really need to take a good, long look at ourselves in the mirror, because we need to take a 180 degree turn as a nation. What we are doing now is clearly not working, and the longer that we take to address this problem the worse it is going to get. But I could have easily listed 100 examples or 1000 examples. Every single day, we are inundated with reports like these. The symptoms of the decay of our society are all around us. We just have to be willing to look at them…
The piece, written by Michael Snyder of the blog “Economic Collapse” comes up with only ten examples of our social decay but they are serve as powerful glimpse into a nation that has lost it’s very soul. Mr. Snyder writes of an obese Wal-Mart shopper who attempted to steal steaks by hiding them under his fat ass on his motorized scooter. There is also the lurid tale of a Florida woman who killed, dismembered and cooked her neighbor, possibly one of the dumbest spousal murders in modern history, an Ohio pervert capturing and turning women into his personal sex slaves and a woman who was raped and then set on fire in Wichita, Kansas. You just cannot make shit like this up and the most disturbing thing is that on any given day there are literally hundreds of news stories as sick as these and even worse.
But America shrugs and continues to follow jackals and jackasses the likes of Obama off the edge of the cliff and into the great abyss of history.
