These days it's hard to find much positive in this land of false hope and chump change but today is one of those very few days when news is announced that actually improves American government. President Barack Obama's vicious hatchet man of an Attorney General, the dishonorable Eric Holder has announced his resignation. Holder is one of the all time most thoroughly rotten bastards to ever hold the office. He ranks up there with the infamous John Mitchell who was Nixon's A.G. and a Watergate criminal who ended up in prison. If this were truly a just and decent country - which it isn't at this time in history - Holder would face a similar fate.
The exact reason behind the surprise announcement has yet to be divulged. Maybe he is just trying to beat the rats to the lifeboats as Obama's unprecedented spree of lawlessness continues. There is that matter of the man who would be king starting another war - without congressional approval - as well as the ongoing abuses of power by dear leader. He has already accumulated the powers of a dictator and is dangerously unstable and capable of anything in his last two or so years in the Oval Office. Perhaps Holder soon will end up cutting a deal to testify against Mr. Obama if the Republicans have the balls to impeach the bastard after the November elections. The resignation was a surprise but a damned good one for a change.
According to The Guardian in a story entitled "US attorney general Eric Holder to step down":
Eric Holder, the United States’ first black attorney general, will announce later on Thursday that he plans to resign from his post as soon as a successor can be confirmed. President Obama will make a statement about Holder’s resignation from the White House Thursday afternoon, though he will not immediately announce who he plans to name as his choice to be the next attorney general.
A Department of Justice official said Holder has “no immediate plans” after he leaves office, but that he wants to “stay actively involved in some of the causes to which he has devoted his time in office” and that “following his recent visit to Ferguson, Missouri, he has spoken with friends and associates about his wish to find a way to continue helping to restore trust between law enforcement and minority communities.”
House minority leader Nancy Pelosi confirmed Holder’s resignation during a meeting of the Congressional Black Caucus, where he had been due to speak.
The news, first reported minutes earlier by National Public Radio, drew gasps from many in the audience and a panel including several prominent African American politicians.
Just beforehand, the panel had been praising Holder for his instrumental role in pushing the administration on sentencing reform and other key issues. “I do associate myself with the comments … about the excellence our of great attorney general Eric Holder,” Pelosi said.
She went on: “I do, then, want to say that the word is that the attorney general will resign today. He has served our country very well, but the message is that the attorney general will be submitting his resignation to the president.”
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is a thoroughly loathsome bitch and it must have been a sucker punch to the solar plexus of the Congressional Black Congressional Caucus to get the news on Holder's quitting from her. During his time as Attorney General he never failed to exhibit his racial bias in the abusing of his office to engage in personal crusades that covered up his dismal record towards reporters and whistleblowers and his failure to hold the perpetrators of the 2008 financial collapse accountable.
Holder has been a longtime fixer, well before his tenure as Barry's top cover-up man he was also instrumental in the Bill Clinton pardon of arch-criminal Marc Rich. The last article that Wall Street muckraker Matt Taibbi did for Rolling Stone magazine on the Goldman Sachs commodities trading scam nails Holder. I excerpt the following from the piece entitled "The Vampire Squid Strikes Again":
The presence of these Marc Rich entities is particularly noteworthy. According to famed Forbes reporter Paul Klebnikov, who was assassinated in 2004 after years of reports on Russian corruption, Rich made a fortune in the early Nineties striking crooked deals with the Soviet bosses who controlled the U.S.S.R.'s supplies of raw materials – in particular commodities like zinc and aluminum. These deals helped create a fledgling class of profiteers among the bosses of the crumbling Soviet empire, a class that would go on years later to help push Russia out of its communist past into its kleptocratic present.
"He'd strike a deal with the local party boss, or the director of a state-owned company," Klebnikov said back in 2001. "He'd say, 'OK, you will sell me the [commodity] at five to 10 percent of the world-market price . . . and in return, I will deposit some of the profit I make by reselling it 10 times higher on the world market, and put the kickback in a Swiss bank account.'"
Rich made these reported deals while in exile from the United States, which he fled in 1983 after the U.S. government charged him with tax evasion, wire fraud, racketeering and trading with the enemy after being caught trading with rogue states like Iran, among other things. The state filed enough counts to put him away for life, and he remained a fugitive until January 2001, when a little-known Clinton administration Justice Department official named Eric Holder recommended Rich be pardoned. A report by the House Committee on Government Reform later concluded that Holder had not provided a credible explanation for supporting Rich's pardon and that he must have had "other motivations" that he didn't share with Congress. Among other things, the committee speculated that Holder had designs on the attorney general's office in a potential Al Gore administration.
In any case, in 2010, a decade after the Rich pardon, Holder was attorney general, but under Barack Obama, and two Rich-created firms, along with two banks that have been major donors to the Democratic Party, all made moves to buy up metals warehouses. In near simultaneous fashion, Goldman, Chase, Glencore and Trafigura bought companies that control warehouses all over the world for the LME, or London Metals Exchange. The LME is a privately owned exchange for world metals trading. It's the world's primary hub for determining metals prices and also for trading metals-based futures, options, swaps and other instruments.
While the significance of Holder's role in the Marc Rich pardon may seem insignificant to many, it is important for them to understand that this gross travesty of justice could come back to bite Queen Hillary the Inevitable in her fat ass BIG TIME. Not only did her husband sign off on Rich's pardon to a firestorm of controversy, but Eric Holder was a key man in doing the legwork to make it happen.
If the Republicans are really serious about stopping Mrs. Clinton and holding Obama accountable for his crimes they should immediately begin to brainstorm on exactly how to get Holder under oath. If he no longer has his exalted high office to protect him then he will squeal like the proverbial pig in hot oil to save his own ass if and when he is brought in for testimony.
As for Holder as A.G. - Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out motherf*cker!
