Obama's Willing Executioners

With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu once again bombing Gaza back to the stone age and the ongoing ISIS related fighting in Iraq the situation in Ukraine has slipped through the cracks. Not that the US state-corporate media has bothered to tell the truth about the Obama backed coup government in Kiev and it's neo-Nazi muscle anyway but Americans are being hoodwinked into lining up behind what is increasingly becoming a campaign of the use of the military against civilians as well as ethnic cleansing operations. In the myriad of foreign policy disasters under the Obama regime the situation in Ukraine is by far the worst as not only was it completely unnecessary - the neocons at the State Department, led by Hillary Clinton leftovers like former Dick Cheney advisor Victoria "Fuck the EU" Nuland as well as veteran provocateurs like Senator John McCain decided to stick it to Russian leader Vladimir Putin while he was occupied with the Sochi Winter Olympics.

What was a legitimate protest movement against the corrupt oligarch leader in Kiev, Viktor Yanukovych was hijacked by goons including the extremist political parties Right Sektor and Svoboda (McCain's neo-Nazi pals) who introduced violence into the Euromaiden protests which after much US support including the ever loathsome Nuland passing out cookies in a public relations appearance toppled the sitting leader, chasing him from the country in fear for his life. A still mysterious sniper attack ignited the final push against Yanukovych (an intercepted phone call between the EU's Catherine Ashton and the Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet sites medical information that the shots that killed protesters and police came from the same direction) and Nuland's (Mrs. Robert Kagan) hand-picked successor, Arseniy “Yats” Yatsenyuk and a junta government was installed. "Yats" and his illegitimately installed government were clumsy at public relations and the US-EU-NATO Axis of Aggression got caught with their pants down when the prize of the hostile takeover, Crimea along with Russia's Black Sea naval base was lost after Crimeans voted to extend a big middle finger to the junta in Kiev and rejoin Russia. Similar unrest followed in the east of what is a divided country, half of which shares and identity with Russia and the memories of the bad old days of World War II and the killing spree carried out by Nazi collaborators is well known.

East Ukraine naturally rebelled after the US backed junta immediately decreed that Russian language was banned and things just went downward from there. Rather than get into a long rehashing of the past six months suffice it to say that the breakaway of the east into a separate republic was never going to be tolerated ether from the fascist and neo-Nazi goons in the new government nor by the corporate and global finance backers of the overthrown. From Nuland's own lips the US had sunk around $5 billion in American taxpayer dollars into opening up Ukraine to IMF austerity programs and corporate exploitation and the delivery of the merchandise minus that huge chunk that is Crimea was already intolerable, there was no way that the east was going to be lost as well even if those who did not want to be absorbed into the rapacious, bloodsucking maw of the resource plundering west had to be killed.

The commencement of "anti-terrorist operations" was announced by the occupying government shortly after being visited by CIA Director John Brennan and Vice President Joe Biden (whose son scored a gig with Ukraine's largest gas company shortly after daddy left) and soon reports of killings, such as the atrocity at the Odessa trade union building back in may began to trickle in although largely ignored by the US media and sugar-coated in the UK. The trade union incident was particularly horrific in that the victims weren't legitimate military targets (if such a thing exists) and were tortured and murdered by extremist hordes before the building itself was set ablaze as the crowd outside changed "burn Colorado burn" - a reference to striped pro-Russian commemorative ribbons derisively sneered upon by right-wing Ukies as the Colorado potato beetle . There was no truthful acknowledgement of this from the Obama regime and the pocket press other than to resort to their standard lies of blaming everything on Putin and that the slaughter in Odessa was some sort of Russian false flag and not the explosion of deep-seated Nazi sentimentality.

The Odessa incident is when the Rubicon was crossed and it was assured that the anti-fascist, anti-austerity uprising in the east would not given in lest they meet the same fate. The history of Nazi slaughter and barbarity in Ukraine is well understood by the people there and when influential members of the US backed regime as well as parts of the citizenry openly embrace the infamous Nazi collaborator Stephan Bandera, a fiendish monster if there ever were one. The USA! USA! USA! has never had too many reservations about backing extremist elements to further the interests of American corporations and imperial expansion and this is particularly so with the Nazis, a long and sordid history exists and can be read about in Christopher Simpson's "Blowback" which has just recently come back into print as an e-book, a part of the new Forbidden Bookshelf series. Most Americans, particularly those weaned on the always triumphal WW II movies, television series, books and video games have no inkling that the extablishment not only danced with Nazis but fornicated with them after war, assimilating many into the intelligence apparatus and science fields where they could put their knowledge once used to further Hitler's dreams of conquest to use for good old Uncle Scam.

But I digress..

The initial coup regime was given a face lift with the bogus election of western puppet Petro Poroshenko aka The Chocolate King who immediately escalated the "anti-terrorist operations" in the east and jacked up the rhetoric, even vowing to take back Crimea. The bloodshed has increased and any killing of Kiev backed military personnel (a thing that occasionally occurs in war zones)  is threatened by Porky. After last week's pulverizing of a unit in a rebel rocket barrage the  puppet leader, increasingly sounding like Hitler vowed that “For every life of our servicemen, the rebels will pay with tens and hundreds of their own” - Lidice anyone? The death toll is about to explode and Ukrainian bosses have promised "a nasty surprise" to anti-Kiev holdouts, one can only shudder at what this may be but the vengeance will be severe. And the US regime just continues to support these maniacs.

I always read the great work of Robert Parry at Consortium News, he has provided some of the best reporting on Ukriane available and I excerpt from his recent piece "Itching for a Genocide":

Western Ukraine’s “anti-terrorist operation” against rebels in Eastern Ukraine has the makings of what could degenerate from scattered atrocities to ethnic cleansing to genocide. It already is a nasty war to suppress an ethnic minority through the use of military force, complete with references to the targeted population as insects and animals.

Traditionally, the U.S. government protests such violence and even intervenes militarily to stop it, such as the cases of Kosovo in the 1990s and Libya in 2011. In the Kosovo case, the U.S. government supported the arrest and trial of Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic on war crimes charges and later backed Kosovo’s outright secession from Serbia. In the Libyan case, a U.S.-directed bombing campaign helped overthrow Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi who was then captured and murdered.

But the Obama administration, especially the U.S. State Department, is gung-ho in favor of Western Ukraine’s military assault on Eastern Ukraine where many ethnic Russians objected to the overthrow of elected President Viktor Yanukovych in a violent Feb. 22 coup. Yanukovych came from the East, which was also his political base.

Despite the disturbing circumstances surrounding the coup, including the role of neo-Nazi militias in forcing Yanukovych and his officials to flee for their lives, the U.S. State Department immediately embraced the new authorities as “legitimate.” The mainstream U.S. news media also clambered onboard the pro-coup bandwagon.

Over the ensuing months, both the State Department and the U.S. press corps have consistently presented a one-sided narrative that portrayed the coup makers as white-hatted “pro-democracy” protesters and denounced anyone opposed to the coup as black-hatted supporters of “Russian aggression.”

The key role of neo-Nazi “brown shirts” was whited out of the official U.S. picture despite the fact that the interim regime gave these far-right ultranationalists – admirers of Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera – at least four ministries, including national security, in recognition of their crucial contribution in overthrowing Yanukovych.

However, the propaganda role of the State Department and the mainstream U.S. press is now taking on a darker coloration as the Kiev regime vows to crush the ethnic Russian resistance in Eastern Ukraine, raising the prospect of widespread civilian deaths, ethnic cleansing and even the possibility of genocide.

Obama has always been open as to his admiration for Ronald Reagan and now just like the Gipper he has his very own death squads prowling Ukraine and coordinating with the military. In a recent post at the progressive website OpEd News by George Eliason, an American living in Ukraine the writer states:

On the first day of the 'liberation' 116 people between 25-40 were killed without charge or trial. The executions are still going on in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Witnesses say one man was strapped to an APC by his feet and dragged, then thrown into a car and taken away. Crews with dogs search the apartments, and without even asking any questions shoot people in front of their families. One person that escaped reported seeing a six year old he knew nailed to a sign post, as the soldier laughing. The father ran out of the building and was shot as he begged for his child's life. Another child, just 3 years old was crucified on a bulletin board by Kiev Bandera and his mother was forced to watch. The mother was then dragged around by a tank. The woman was the wife of a militia member.

 Residents of Slavyansk are being forced to prove their loyalty to the government. To do this they provide information on their "former" family and friends that supported the militia, including phone, social media, addresses, and photos. One woman in Slovyansk, in a bid to prove her loyalty to the junta, murdered her own husband. Corpses lie uncollected in the streets, apartments, and houses. Survivors are being processed through 'filtration' (i.e., concentration) camps, according to people who escaped the 'liberation' of Slovyansk.

 Confirmation of this level of atrocity comes from a fighter with Kiev's Donbass battalion: Oleg Dube (Oak). In a cleansing operation in Nikolaevka he wrote on his Facebook page that there were only civilians and no militia in the town. The battalion cleansed the town by throwing grenades into the houses and shooting anything that moved. Dube claims to have watched unarmed residents shot down in the street. According to him he complained to hiscommander Simon Semenchenko. His commander had him arrested and taken to their base in Donetsk.(Semenchenko is currently involved in an organ trafficking investigation involving junta leaders.)

This is gruesome if true, particularly the part about the crucifixion of the small child to a bulletin board, it may be just ugly disinformation but then again, considering the Nazi worship of the militias operating in the east - Obama's neo-Nazi militias - he now owns them - such atrocities can't easily be dismissed. The story of this latest abominable outburst of cruelty also appeared at the website The Vineyard of the Saker. 

I am increasingly beginning to agree that Obama is in the long run going to prove to be far worse than Bush, even in all of the bloody atrocities unleashed in Iraq by the Shock and Awe attack at least Dubya never threw in with Nazis. 

Kerry and Obama Lying US into Yet Another War

President Barack Obama and his Secretary of State John Kerry did their damed level best to lie to Americans in order to pimp a war last summer based on trumped up information in Syria and now they are doing the same thing in Ukraine. In an ongoing spectacle that has all of the fascinating qualities of one of those RNC talking point "train wrecks" the duo continue to agitate and push for an ill-conceived and ultimately disastrous fight with Russian leader Vladimir Putin who can't be counted on this time to save the dynamic duo (or us for that matter) from themselves. Today's escalation in the idiotic, hypocritical and dangerous game of chicken with the nuclear armed Russians consists of the esteemed Kerry blathering the same standard cookie-cutter neocon talking points over the rapidly deteriorating situation in Ukraine that was unleashed when the Obama team of unrivaled imbeciles decided that launching a neo-Nazi backed coup in Kiev in order to stick it to Putin during the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Not that a man like Kerry would have a problem with dealing with Nazis. The erstwhile opponent of the illegal wars of empire is a member of the infamous Yale University secret society Skull and Bones with it's longtime ties to the Wall Street elite and OSS/CIA that not only helped to arm Nazi Germany for profits he is in his element as much as a pig wallowing in a pool of shit. Not only was Wall Street money - such as that from a certain Prescott Bush from whose loins sprung two future US Presidents (with another on the way) whose Wall Street firm was actually shut down by the US government - instrumental in the rise of Hitler but they also provided cover for Nazi war criminals after the end of World War II.

With the renewed propaganda barrage against the Russians and specifically Putin erupting anew over the weekend, with a launching pad over at the Washington Post neocon transmission station by the likes of Jennifer "dog face" Rubin, Charles "Dr. Strangelove" Kraüthammer and a newcomer in some hack named Kathy Lally the ground was prepped for Mr. Kerry's latest uncontrollable bout of chronic diarrhea of the mouth. In ratcheting up the strident rhetoric, especially now that Ukrainians are rebelling against the illegally installed occupying government of "Yats" and his neo-Nazis fully understanding that the future is crushing and ruthlessly enforced austerity, pogroms, political repression and slavery Kerry was in in form unseen since last August. According to an article in The Guardian the grand marshal of the American fool's parade is now ranting about Russian agent provocateurs fomenting unrest in East Ukraine:

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, described recent developments in eastern Ukraine as "more than deeply disturbing" and repeated threats of western sanctions against Russia, which he said would be expanded to the country's energy, banking and mining sectors.

Kerry blamed pro-Russian protests in eastern Ukraine on "special forces and agents" sent by Moscow in a move he said "could potentially be a contrived pretext for military intervention just as we saw in Crimea".

What is it called when an imperialistic, meddling warfare state that has engaged in "intervention" after "intervention" ever since the original indigenous inhabitants of our god-kissed, star-spangled lemming colony were hunted down like animals and slaughtered as such?

This is so ridiculous on so many levels that it is the proverbial smoking gun that the entire western mainstream media is in the bag - a now completely essential and assimilated component of the Deep State that serves only one purpose which is to lie on behalf of a corrupt establishment that is careening more out of bounds by the minute. It is simply unbelievable that this guy is not called on this bullshit, especially after the obvious lies that damned near led to the attack on Syria over a sarin gas attack on civilians in a Damascus suburb that always stank but never more so than in Seymour Hersh's latest expose "The Red Line and the Rat Line" over at the London Review of Books. The US state media would NEVER allow a piece like this to be published. Hersh apparently has even been exiled by the New Yorker after his excellent work during the Bushreich. He may not get any exposure - other than vilification at ideologically bent, Deep State Muslim-baiting shitholes like Commentary Magazine but he gave two good interviews yesterday with Amy Goodman at Democracy Now and Scott Horton at Antiwar.com. Check them out.

Hersh's story alone calls into question the monstrous torrent of lies about the Ukraine situation emanating from the Obama regime and the corrupt US media and perhaps there is a bit of desperation in Kerry's latest dissertation of pure, unadulterated hogwash. The drip, drip, drip effects of the NSA leaks courtesy of heroic whistleblower Edward Snowden have certainly given all of those "Hope" and "Change" banners a certain yellowing taint and I at times wonder if a lot of Obama's relentless crusade to nail Putin to a cross doesn't have as it's genesis the fact that Snowden was saved from a US or affiliated despotic partner's torture chambers by Russia's leader. Hell, given Mr. Obama's penchant for narcissism and the humiliation of his American Stasi being exposed followed by Putin intervening to stop the Syrian attacks and that classic, for the ages take down of US exceptionalism on the anniversary of that oh so sanctified day of September 11th in the Op Ed section of the New York Times, Dear Leader is steaming.

It is springtime and that substance that is heavy in the air and clogging nostrils isn't just pollen. Springtime indeed, for the US establishment led by Obama, Kerry and the neocons it might as well be Springtime for Hitler.

Citing Secret Report Fascist Rogers Claims Snowden Aided Terrorists

In the manner befitting the defenders of the NSA mass surveillance programs House Intelligence Committee head Mike Rogers has now accused former government contractor turned NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden of putting our blessed troops in danger. Rogers and his crony Congressman Dutch Reppersberger (D-Md)  whose district just happens to contain Fort Meade where the the American Stasi headquarters are located used a secret Pentagon report to back their latest media crusade against reforming the fascist spying colossus. Not only are they accusing Snowden of putting our heroic imperial stormtroopers in danger but have like the criminally inclined Michael Hayden come out and hung the traitor label on the man and are now escalating the government's war on accountability by alleging that Snowden helped "terrorists" as well. The conflict of interest ridden Reppersberger who has no place sitting on any serious investigative panel given his close proximity to NSA HQ declared “Snowden handed terrorists a copy of our country’s playbook and now we are paying the price, which this report confirms”. He is at least partially correct in that fascists who are running this data-mining show view all who challenge their power, especially American citizens with a respect for transparency and the Constitution are indeed "terrorists". This is the way that it works in any authoritarian state run by dangerous control freaks and let's face it, these NSA surveillance programs have never been about actual terrorism prevention anyway, they have been able to prove that they have stopped on single plot against American interests. They are now and have from their inception been about crushing domestic political opposition that gets in the way of their ongoing criminality and consolidation of power.

Not only is the NSA spying on everyone, hoarding and storing data in their Utah facility as well as a location where the Main Core database containing information on political troublemakers (left and right alike), civil libertarians, writers, lawyers, intellectuals and all else who defend the constitution but readying for when the day that The Last Roundup is authorized. This will be when all of Rogers and Reppersberger's "terrorists" will be dealt with, likely when the economic collapse inevitably comes as the current system is unsustainable or perhaps sooner as their fellow traitors in the U.S. Senate are dangerously close to undermining the P5+1 Iran talks and pushing the country into one final, ruinous war. Rest assured that is is coming though and given past history all of what are mocked as tin-foil hat style "conspiracy theories" about internment camps should perhaps be given a bit more of a serious bit of consideration given the existance of  programs that have already been revealed and the zeal to defend them. Mr. Obama plans to announce "reforms" to the surveillance programs this coming Friday but they will be largely cosmetic and as effective at restoring a system of checks and balances, the rights of Americans to not be subjected to unreasonable searches and the future of this country as a band aid on a sucking chest wound.

Rogers has already used every opportunity provided to him by the corrupt media to attack Snowden, defend the unconstitutional surveillance of millions of law-abiding Americans but Reppersberger has not had quite the media prominence. Notably per his bio he is that he is a member of the so-called Gang of Eight, a powerful of congressional leaders which has an inordinate level of control over legislative policy and is an affront to the Constitution, not that the document matters to any of the elected representatives who are supposed represent the people but instead enrich themselves at the expense of the republic. Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates' book "Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War" has the beltway punditry and the other arms of the state-corporate media atwitter over his jabs at the cunning Barack Obama and the boob Joe Biden but it has been largely played down that some of his most withering salvos are directed at the U.S. Congress, an enemy of the American people if there ever were one.  Gates vents appropriately at the cancer that has metastasized throughout the legislative branch:

"I saw most of Congress as uncivil, incompetent at fulfilling their basic constitutional responsibilities (such as timely appropriations), micromanagerial, parochial, hypocritical, egotistical, thin-skinned and prone to put self (and re-election) before country."

Yes indeed, that part about putting self "before country" especially applies to the renegade Senate bloc that continues to grow in number and is about to act to eradicate any chance of normalized, non-hostile relations with the new moderate regime in Iran. This would for the first time since the CIA backed 1953 overthrow of democratically elected Iranian leader Mohammad Mosaddeq that hostilities can be dialed down and U.S. business interests could benefit from a new market and open trade with the country. But the meddlesome Saudis and right-wing Israelis cannot tolerate that under any circumstances. The Kingdom's pull on U.S. foreign policy due to being a major source of oil would be torpedoed by improved relations with Tehran and an increasingly malevolent Israeli nationalist state led by the unstable Netanyahu would lose face along with his desired destiny as the historical equivalent of the sainted Sir Winston Churchill. Both are frantically working behind the scenes to support the Senate traitors that Gates exposed as venal, disloyal rats. For the record Gates also “worried about the influence of the Israelis and the Saudis in the White House… and their desire to have problems like Iran ‘taken care of’ while Bush was still president.” Bush eventually distanced himself from Cheney's sway and having to this point failed to suck Obama into an attack on Iran the focus has obviously turned to Congress.

Rogers and Reppersberger must be salivating at the prospect of another war, this time a damned big one that will unlike Iraq and Afghanistan require appeals to the public for sacrifices to support the war effort. Perhaps as the conflagration grows and the body count mounts, when conditions deteriorate to the point that Russia and China become involved that there will be a renewed effort to begin conscription for the first time since the Vietnam war era. A national military draft would do much to solve the ongoing problem of joblessness and the NSA will ensure that those who would oppose the restoration of mandatory military service (with the exception of the children and grandchildren of the wealthy and the U.S. Congress) will have been silenced.

American Exceptionalism: The Last Refuge of Scoundrels

During his address before the U.N. General Assembly, the  the air still bearing a slight whiff of the sulfur of the devilish lies of George W. Bush and Colin Powell a decade ago it was Barack Hussein Obama seizing the pulpit from which to deliver a lecture to those less exceptional than Americans. Mr. Obama piled on the standard imperial teleprompter boilerplate to justify the eternal wars of Oceania. He also continued to push for his belated strike on Syria and invoke once again the Ghouta gas attacks which he and the Skull and Bones member who is the  Secretary of State despite their efforts have never proven to be the actions of the Assad regime.  While it wasn’t quite the in your face lies about Saddam’s mobile chemical weapons labs Barry wrapped it all up in lofty language that means only one thing - the business of the United States is war and only war.

Assad’s traditional allies [TRANSLATION: RUSSIA] have propped him up, citing principles of sovereignty to shield his regime. And on August 21st, the regime used chemical weapons in an attack that killed more than 1,000 people including hundreds of children. [As is always left out is what makes hundreds of children gassed by a still unknown culprit different from the thousands of dead children who fall victim to U.S. iron fragmentation bombs, white phosphorous, napalm and errant drone strikes]

The crisis in Syria, and the destabilization of the region, goes to the heart of broader challenges that the international community must now confront. How should we respond to conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa - conflicts between countries but also conflicts within them [Africa here we come]? How do we address the choice of standing callously by while children [whom slimy politicians like Barry never hesitate to use as human shields for their lies be they dead from the bullets of a lunatic in a grade school classroom or gassed by an undetermined party on the outskirts of Damascus] are subjected to nervr gas, or embroiling ourselves in someone else’s civil war? What is the role of the United Nations, and international law [which Barry and the boys wouldn’t know if it sneaked up behind them and bit them in the ass], in meeting cries for justice?

Today, I want to outline where the United States of America stands on these issues. With respect to Syria, we believe that as a starting point [the bombers are being scrambled soon], the international community must enforce the ban on chemical weapons [excepting those that are in the arsenals of the U.S. and Israel]. When I stated my willingness to order a limited strike against the Assad regime in response to the brazen use of chemical weapons, I did not do so lightly. I did so because it is in the security interest of the United States [Hogwash] and the world to enforce a prohibition whose origins are older than the U.N. itself [again U.S. chemical weapons stocks are excluded]. The ban against the use of chemical weapons [Agent Orange?], even in war, has been agreed to by 98 percent of humanity. It is strengthened by the searing memories of soldiers suffocated in the trenches; Jews slaughtered in gas chambers [obligatory mention of the poor Holocaust victims to sell more murder and curry favor with AIPAC]; and Iranians poisoned in the many tens of thousands [see recent report on CIA knowledge of Saddam’s chemical weapons program].

I could go on but why bother? Obama is a pathological liar, a war criminal and when it really gets right down it a terrorist for his administration's killing of civilians, those are the unspoken qualifications to get the POTUS gig and he has adapted well. The man composes kill lists over this Cheerios and orange juice and is second to none when it comes to racking up the body count of innocent civilians killed by drone strikes. He is also itching for a proxy war with Vlad Putin who served him up a triple-decker shit sandwich with a vodka chaser, first over the granting of asylum to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and then for pouncing on the buffoonish John Kerry’s gaffe by getting Assad to offer up a listing of his chemical weapons to prevent an imminent attack. Yet Barry just keeps repackaging the same crap and selling it to the masses and the primary reason that he is able to get away with any of these horrendous falsehoods is thanks to that wonderful little thing that is  American exceptionalism.

American exceptionalism is the one unassailable remaining powerful talisman that protects the agenda of the elite and Barry just played that card at the U.N. with all the deftness of a seasoned riverboat card cheat. "Some may disagree, but I believe that America is exceptional,...In part because we have shown a willingness, through the sacrifice of blood and treasure, to stand up not only for our own narrow self-interest, but for the interests of all" dear leader explained.  The wound to national pride has been laid open over the Russian slights and Obama and his ilk have hastily poured on the salt after Putin had the audacity to have a column published in the New York Times calling out the warmongering cowboy state and its self-proclaimed, some may perceive even god-kissed greatness:

“it is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.”

Putin was of course roundly denounced by the American political classes and masses of asses alike, if as the saying goes that “God created all men equal” then it is what it is and there are really no exclusions or caveats that we here on the star spangled lemming farm are any goddamned better than anyone else. Putin was of course pilloried for it by the pocket press, our rancid politicians and now Barry himself but he is correct, at least when referencing the U.S. Declaration of Independence that – “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” You would figure that a former community organizer and constitutional law professor would get this but in 2013 George Orwell is much more accurate source on all things American than George Washington. In Orwell's novel  Animal Farm it is laid out in more realistic language befitting the country that we currently live in -   "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

As if an invocation of John Wayne’s America given by Barry at the U.N. actually means anything. That is other than yet another example to the civilized world that America stands for one thing and one thing only – the ability to kick the hell out of anyone who disagrees with this silly, childish fantasy of national greatness. American exceptionalism is like the belief in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or some other fictional entity.  We are exceptional in the manner to which so much of the population continues to be hoodwinked by that biggest lie of all – that we are better than everyone on the planet because we will eagerly feed our young military men and women into the meat grinder of wars, invasions and occupations as a blood sacrifice to the defense industry and the big banks to hoard more treasure. Obama has made some unbelievably stupid statements during his tenure in office (red line anyone?) but this immediately rockets to the top of the list.

The TRUE version of our exceptionalism is embodied in this snippet from the late Hunter S. Thompson –

The New Hammerhead was a perfect cowboy. He was vicious & stupid & ignorant of everything except his own fears and appetites. He beat the mortal shit out of anything that made him uneasy, for any reason at all. The Hammerhead was a perfect warrior. He defended the flag. Any flag. He learned to understand words like “orders” and “patriotism”, but the secret of his success was an animal taste for blood. He thrived on motion. But he was brainless; he had to be aimed.

The leadership of this country long ago ceded the moral high ground to the gods of war and high finance and in sacrificing their very people as nothing more than grist for the military-banking money mills the state is all too happy to grind their bones to make their bread and to keep them placated with the lie of American exceptionalism. I suppose that it is all that is left to offer now since the mythical American dream was already debunked by our brand of flag-draped vulture capitalism and just doesn’t resonate in tent cities, soup lines, sacrifice zones and ghettos.  Millions are deprived of their ability to earn a decent living because millions of good jobs were offshored to third world countries, their homes foreclosed upon by racketeer big banks in bed with big government and the star-bellied Sneetches living large in The Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard and other posh enclaves of the filthy rich who want it all.  So let them eat war and take pride in just how exceptionally we can drop billions of dollars of weaponry on their counterparts in countries deemed to be enemies of this one.

A bit of recommended reading for those who understand the horrors of the unleashed, crony capitalist, government backed corporate state is the book by former New York Times war correspondent Chris Hedges and artist Joe Sacco entitled Days Of Destruction, Days of Revolt. A damning look at how the machine chews up the lives those who find themselves defenseless and in it's path. I excerpt the following statistical references from the prelude that are testament to our exceptionalism. Note that the book was published in 2012 so these may not still be accurate – they could be even worse:

Lowest average number of days for paid holiday, annual leaves, and maternity leaves

Highest consumption of antidepressants per capita
Highest military spending as a percentage of GDP
Largest international arms sales
Highest homicide Rate
Largest prison population per capita.

To add to the list let us not forget a  government that is both morally and fiscally bankrupt thanks to the folks that George Washington once referred to as “squadrons of corrupt paper dealers”.
A legacy of shame that gestated in the torture chambers of Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib prison as well as a network of black sites.

A good chunk of a national population that is comprised with electronically lobotomized, willfully ignorant television addicted zombies.

A nation of functional illiterates who if they even bother to read at all only bother with the comics and sports sections and bizarre interpretations of the bible as revised by Elmer Gantry style tent preachers, false prophets and televangelist phonies.

A political system that is a mockery of any serious concept of democracy so thoroughly corrupted it has become by big money.

A for-profit prison gulag system that blows away anything that Stalin could have imagined.

And Christ knows how many more lamentable illustrations at just how rotten that this place has become thanks to decades of corrupt ‘leadership’ as we move rapidly into full collapse.
