Big Greenwald Story Delayed by US Government

Yesterday, Pulitzer prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald let the news slip via Twitter that the long-awaited, new NSA story was to be published on The Intercept at midnight. This morning, much to the dismay of myself and many, many others it appears that the new website - already suspiciously devoid of material - has caved to government pressure tactics and has successfully delayed the story. According to a cryptic Tweet by Greenwald "After 3 months working on our story, USG today suddenly began making new last-minute claims which we intend to investigate before publishing". Gee, can any of those claims be based on trumped up charges that publication would play right into the hands of the magically appearing out of nowhere at the most convenient times for a new Middle Eastern war ISIS? This does not bode well for those really big "imminent" NSA releases that have been promised by Greenwald. Could a total retraction be far behind?
While I have been a skeptic to the allegations that the new First Look Media venture that lured Greenwald and others with the siren song of creating a new media venture that would offer a much needed alternative to the corrupt state-corporate US media that serve as protectors of the entrenched establishment was all just an attempt to eventually suppress the leaks of whistleblower Edward Snowden this only serves to bolster them. When you throw in with the billionaire wolves you will sooner or later being devoured and EBay founder Pierre Omidyar's agenda has already been found by some, such as journalist Chris Floyd to be suspect with links to both the Ukraine coup government as well as the new regime of new right-wing leader of India Narendra Modi. The problem is that at the end of the day all of these elite pigs stick together and Greenwald should have been far more skeptical of his associations.
It would have been a brilliant touch were the story of NSA surveillance of domestic political dissidents and well known figures were to have broken during the week of the orgy of flag-sucking excess that is the Fourth of July and Greenwald may have ill-advisedly tipped his hand during that interview with GQ "The Man Who Knows Too Much" when he alluded to fireworks:
I think we will end the big stories in about three months or so [June or July 2014]. I like to think of it as a fireworks show: You want to save your best for last. There’s a story that from the beginning I thought would be our biggest, and I’m saving that. The last one is the one where the sky is all covered in spectacular multicolored hues. This will be the finale, a big missing piece. Snowden knows about it and is excited about it.
For now at least the fireworks show has been postponed, with the incessant fear-mongering that has now overtaken the USA!, USA!, USA! over the new Islamic caliphate and Obama sending more American troops back into Iraq it is probably better than even money that it will be cancelled altogether in the interests of national security.
Greenwald should have stayed at The Guardian.

Up Yours Rogers! Greenwald Wins Polk Award for NSA Reporting

That very nasty scowl that is permanently affixed to the fat face of Congressman and House Intelligence Committee head Mike Rogers, the thug shoved down the entire country’s throats by voters in Michigan’s 8th congressional district is about to get even worse. In breaking news today the “thief” Glenn Greenwald who is the target of Rogers’ latest vendetta just won the prestigious George Polk Award for his reporting on the Edward Snowden story.  Along with Greenwald fellow reporters who also worked on the stories of the former government contractor turned NSA whistleblower - Ewen MacAskill and Laura Poitras as well as the Washington Post’s Barton Gellman - were honored. This is a triumph for the now on life support concept of freedom of the press in the darkest days of Obama’s war on journalism. They along with Snowden himself have all done this country a great service by outing the criminal rats at Fort Mead Stasi headquarters along with their oath breaking enablers in the most corrupt Congress in the nation’s long history.
Rogers in particular has got to be furious over this and he and his fellow usurpers of the Constitution had better tread carefully if Greenwald chooses to "force the issue" and return to the U.S. to pick up his Polk come April. According to a recent "exclusive"piece in Salon he seems to intend to do such a thing:  “I’m going to go back to the U.S. for many reasons, but just the fucking principle is enough … On principle I’m going to force the issue”. God forbid that any serious journalist dare to have principles in these sorry days of careerism, sensationalism, panty-sniffing, celebrity worship, tabloid drivel, dead child stories and acting as stenographers for the same crooked government figures that the they are supposed to be holding to account per the First Amendment. Christ knows that we certainly couldn't have accountability in this collapsing lemming colony.
It will be time for Rogers to put up or shut up since the state-corporate media refuses to call him on his bullshit about Snowden being a Russian spy and Greenwald being a thief. If Rogers and his ilk are able to push Obama and his ruthless hatchet man Eric Holder into actually going full fascist and arresting Greenwald it may finally be that tipping point that will trigger a chain reaction against this now thirteen year running coup d’etat that started with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. There is much sentiment for stringing Greenwald up by his heels in some dank CIA torture gulag and if that is allowed to occur then we might just as well abandon any idiotic babble about ‘freedom’ and ‘checks and balances’ because it will be a sign that Orwell was dead on about that “boot stamping on a human face.. forever”.
From the moment that he first revealed that meeting with Snowden in a Hong Kong hotel room and then began writing on the material provided Mr. Greenwald was an enemy of the state. He had already incurred the wrath of the corrupt political class when he was targeted several years ago by corporate wet work artists HBGary Federal as a supporter of Wikileaks in aftermath of the Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning's whistleblowing, particularly of the huge embarrassment that was the "collateral murder" video that showed our imperial stormtroopers indiscriminately firing on Iraqi civilians. Greenwald isn't easily intimidated and it is about damned time that someone who is a public figure took a principled stand against this scum. He has a king-sized chip on his shoulder which is what it takes when going up against Leviathan, a recent Rolling Stone magazine article  entitled "Snowden and Greenwald: The Men Who Leaked the Secrets" quotes Greenwald who is openly gay:
"I decided to wage war against this system and institutional authority that had tried to reject and condemn me," he says. "It was like, 'Go fuck yourselves. Instead of having you judge me, I'm going to judge you, because I don't accept the fact that you're even in a position to cast judgments upon me.'"
That is something for Mike Rogers to suck on as it will be his move if Greenwald indeed chooses to "force the issue"
Congratulations to all of the Polk Award honorees for their courageous reporting on the Snowden material despite incurring the full fury of the U.S. and British power structure and their well paid presstitutes by daring to report on the truth of just how bottomless that the snakepit has become.

The War on the First Amendment

With our society now so saturation bombed by decades of rampant militarism to the point where everything has become a cliché that invokes combat – the WAR on terror, the WAR on poverty, the WAR on drugs, the WAR on women etc. we now should be aware of the Obama administration’s WAR on the First Amendment. The War on the First Amendment specifically applies to the portion that establishes the freedom of the press. While truth-telling has always been an enemy of a secretive state determined to use all of the tools in the shed to suppress those who would expose criminality and corruption the open contempt for a free press under the loathsome Obama administration has surpassed that of either Bush or Nixon. The release of the latest version of the World Press Freedom Index by the non-profit watchdog group Reporters Without Borders shows that the U.S. rating is sinking faster than Obama’s phony reputation for transparency.  According to the report, our star-spangled, god-kissed, armed-to the teeth and spying on everything lemming colony now officially ranks at number 46. For a country that has been steeped in the false religion of exceptionalism where “we’re number one” often resonates like thunder this is another of those road signs that we are whipping past along the highway to Hell that is the descent into fascism.
The dismal ranking puts the U.S. smack dab in between Romania and Haiti but still well ahead of such bastions of state repression such as China (175), Egypt (159) and our two special Middle Eastern friends Saudi Arabia (164) and Israel (96). At this rate before much longer if left to the devices of Obama and his ilk as well as the scum running the NSA surveillance establishment like Congressman Mike Rogers we will be number one but in the truest Orwellian nature of The Homeland number one will actually be number 180 currently occupied by the African shithole Eritrea. Since ‘the day that changed everything’ on September 11, 2001 the crusade to profit off of the tragedy and to in the words of Obama buddy and current Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel – never let a good crisis go to waste. That day marked the official demarcation point from what was at once at least in theory a free and democratic society and allowed for the reset button to be hit on over two centuries of American history for the establishment of what will eventually become a full blown fascist dictatorship. We are well on our way there now.
The crushing of the freedom of the press (a precursor to the government going after free speech) is an essential chore for any authoriaraian/totalitarian state worth its salt. The Bushreich may have hated the press but never went to the extremes the way that the Barry and the boys have, particularly in the aftermath of the heroic whistleblowing of former government contractor Edward Snowden over the illegal activities of the NSA. Top U.S. political figures and career bureaucrats are openly calling for the ending of the freedom of the press including the aforementioned Rogers who has been the most visible point man for Leviathan and has his sights set on the hated journalist who Snowden went to in order to have his sacrifice serve as a desperate cry for help for the republic. Rogers, the former FBI thug that he is having the illicit power to rule over U.S. policy despite actually representing only a very small portion of the country overall from his safely gerrymandered Michigan Congressional district continues to escalate his rhetoric that will criminalize journalism. Rogers has been doing this by using Greenwald as his example, particularly evident with his interrogation of sitting FBI Director James Comey last week during a Capitol Hill hearing. The head of the House Intelligence Committee acting more like a Stasi officer than one who has sworn an oath of loyalty to uphold the Constitution led Comey in a methodical manner to make the equivalence that journalists who are being paid for their work are to be treated the same as regular thieves if their stories include public interest reporting on materials obtained by whistleblowers (transcript courtesy of Democracy Now which has a great interview with Greenwald and Scahill over their first piece on the NSA role in drone killings for the new media venture The Intercept):
REP. MIKE ROGERS: There have been discussions about selling of access to this material to both newspaper outlets and other places. Mr. Comey, to the best of your knowledge, is fencing stolen material—is that a crime?
JAMES COMEY: Yes, it is.
REP. MIKE ROGERS: And would be selling the access of classified material that is stolen from the United States government—would that be a crime?
JAMES COMEY: It would be. It’s an issue that can be complicated if it involves a newsgathering, a news promulgation function, but in general, fencing or selling stolen property is a crime.
REP. MIKE ROGERS: So if I’m a newspaper reporter for fill-in-the-blank and I sell stolen material, is that legal because I’m a newspaper reporter?
JAMES COMEY: Right, if you’re a newspaper reporter and you’re hocking stolen jewelry, it’s still a crime.
REP. MIKE ROGERS: And if I’m hocking stolen classified material that I’m not legally in the possession of for personal gain and profit, is that not a crime?
JAMES COMEY: I think that’s a harder question, because it involves a newsgathering function, could have First Amendment implications. That’s something that probably would be better answered by the Department of Justice.
The particular thing that Rogers who is a bully along the lines of Reinhard Heydrich is that he cannot tolerate it when a target fights back. Greenwald is notorious being an uncompromising reporter who relishes the fight, particularly against filth like the Michigan madman. In the DN interview Greenwald blasts Rogers, a man that none of the flacks, shills, careerists, stooges, suck-ups, sell outs, water carriers and lickspittles in the U.S. state corporate media ever call bullshit on for his constant stream of lies and accusations that he pulls out of his ass every Sunday morning (there is a reason why we are number 46)
"Well, first of all, Mike Rogers is a liar. He is outright lying when he says that I or any other journalist working on this case have sold documents or fenced documents. The one thing that’s missing from his accusations is any evidence, because none exists. And I defy him to present any. But that’s what Mike Rogers does. It’s who he is. He just lies and smears people, with no evidence.
"But I think the more important point than the fact that Mike Rogers is a pathological liar is the fact that this is part of a broader campaign on the part of the Obama administration, as Jeremy said, to try and either threaten journalists that they will be criminalized or outright criminalize them by prosecuting us for the journalism that we’re doing."
There are beginning to at least be some rumblings among alternative media sources that is breaking through in that if Greenwald's reporting is criminalized that it bodes very ill for all who would dare to take their First Amendment responsibilities seriously. This week there has already been a series of pieces that each in their own way acknowledge that the days of a free press in this decomposing place called The Homeland are limited if the thugs like Rogers, Clapper, Hayden, Holder and ultimately Obama himself are allowed to succeed in stomping down their jackboots on yet another of our once sacred civil liberties.

NSA Commandant: Ban Reporting on Surveillance

The top Nazi over at surveillance central in Fort Meade, General Keith Alexander continues to provide the best examples of exactly why Obama’s rogue NSA spying operations need to be shut down for good. With outrage building outside of the United States of Dancing With the Stars as revelations of surveillance on foreign leaders now breaking on a near daily basis Barry is besieged  by calls for explanations from those heads of state. The Obama regime has succeeded in finishing the job that Bush and Cheney started in turning this once great country into a global pariah that speaks with a forked tongue and carries the biggest stick in world history of a bloated imperial war machine - the moron bully of the neighborhood. Alexander is now taking it to the next level in calling for the government to stop reporters, like his buddies across the pond he has a fear of being held accountable for their criminal actions. The man is a power hungry, Star Trek junkie of an authoritarian  freak and should be the last person allowed to run the spying apparatus, he is to be stepping down come springtime but that isn’t enough, the man should be court martialed, busted down to buck private and then sent packing without the lavish taxpayer funded retirement package that his is going to score. And the closest thing to an electronic device that the bastard should be allowed to have for the rest of his life is the ankle bracelet that will be mandated for his house arrest.

General Alexander’s latest and greatest grabbing of the brass ring of infamy are comments that he made during an interview for a Defense Department blog in which he called for the halting of reporting on the boatload of abuses that he and his data miners have been caught red handed perpetrating. The General ranted that  "I think it’s wrong that that newspaper reporters have all these documents, the 50,000—whatever they have and are selling them and giving them out as if these—you know it just doesn’t make sense" and "We ought to come up with a way of stopping it. I don’t know how to do that. That’s more of the courts and the policymakers but, from my perspective, it’s wrong to allow this to go on". The comments are the plaintive wails of a cornered rat and even more of an indication that the worst (or best) stuff is yet to come. Interesting that he referenced “selling” of documents of which nothing has been reported on this angle but it reeks of the same type of lies that are always spewed to defend the all-encompassing blanket of impunity provide by invoking “national security” to cover up big government criminality. It  could be a trial balloon for a new avenue of smearing by the Obama goons and rational for unleashing dirty Eric Holder for yet another of the witch hunts that have pockmarked this rancid administration and its war on journalists. I suspect that the “selling” of leaked documents will be used to turn investigative reporting into an act of espionage and that the secret courts and grand juries of the fascist state will be very busy in the coming months.

Glenn Greenwald has every reason to be worried as do any other truth tellers who are about to become the prey of a desperate predatory state as it seeks to once and for all eradicate its enemies. War criminal Dick Cheney is a scheduled guest on the Sunday morning propaganda circuit so let's see if the treasonous old dog goes to the "selling documents" talking point much like he did when he and the war machine mouthpieces used the forums to lie the country into attacking and invading Iraq. Obama may be running the U.S. Stasi now but another story in Der Spiegel reports that according to documents obtained that the U.S. fascist apparatus has been spying on German Chancellor Angela Merkel's phone since 2002. Dastardly Dick should have to answer that question were it to be posed to him by one of those smug, sanctimonious sacks of shit Sunday morning hosts.

The blowback against the NSA Stasi surveillance continues here in the star spangled lemming colony as well albeit on a lesser level than in the educated world, largely due to an abundance of television addicted borderline retards and a state media that abhors the truth as much as General Alexander. There is to be a 'stop watching us" rally in Washington D.C. today to protest the ruling establishment’s disdain for constitutional privacy rights but don’t look for it to get much play in the national media that is enjoying a fresh round of ghoulish pedophilia over startling new revelations in the Jon Benet Ramsey case.

Obama Gangsters Escalate War on Journalism

In a textbook example of the REAL reason for the torrent of Draconian  anti-terrorism laws that have been implemented post 9/11 without the consent of the governed the proxy puppet Brits are joining the Obama war on journalists. On Sunday, the across the pond accomplices of the gangster Obama administration detained the partner of journalist Glenn Greenwald for interrogation and harassment. David Miranda, a Brazilian citizen was seized by authorities in the transit area of London’s Heathrow Airport under the Terrorism Act of 2000. It was a blatant but revealing escalation of the imperial fascist surveillance state that now thanks to former Booz-Allen employee turned leaker Edward Snowden has been exposed for all to see. Mr. Greenwald, who has been breaking a majority of the stories on the unconstitutional and out of control activities of Obama’s NSA Stasi has made a good many enemies for his reportage. He has been the target of what is obviously a U.S. government backed smear campaign designed to impugn his honor and undermine his credibility, one that has been jacked up as of late with reports that he is trying to sell a Snowden interview to media establishments. This is of course done to call into question the journalist’s intentions, since earlier attempts to libel him as a pornographer and sleazebag didn’t work. He has even had to face veiled threats from U.S. regime mouthpieces like the oily David Gregory and his ilk. It goes with the territory of those who ask questions during the Obama-Holder Axis of Evil’s war on journalists but the abduction of Miranda has crossed a line and there is no going back now.
Oh, and when I referred to Obama’s “gangster” administration I was wrong, the mob has Omertà, or a code of honor when it comes to going after family members. This is something that was brought up by Mr. Greenwald himself in his column from Sunday’s edition of The Guardian online:“Even the mafia had ethical rules against people that they felt threatened by” and he is absolutely correct. The Obama thugs, it’s Stasi and the British Gestapo, GCHQ have no honor whatsoever for there are no such necessity when all of them are pigs. Now that it is all seeping out from under the curtain of deception everyone who is not willfully blind is able to see that the two nations, the triumphal winners of WW II aka “the good war” have now fallen under the domain of the very same type of fascists and totalitarians that they once opposed. This is a time for all to be fearful because the mask has slipped and the measures are becoming as fittingly extreme as were they for their historical predecessors in Germany. The Brits held Miranda without providing him access to an attorney and then confiscated his gear including according to sources encrypted thumb drives allegedly carrying information for Greenwald’s future investigative pieces. The operation wasobviously green-lighted by the more paranoid than Nixon White House as if that is surprising. As has been the case in American airports for years we are now subject to being shaken down by overzealous TSA government goons on a whim, children felt up, ole people humiliated and possessions stolen. None of this crap is about preventing terrorism, it has always been about power and the crushing of political dissent, Government restriction of travel is a top trait of authoritarian states as are spying, show trials and torture.
Greenwald’s reaction though must really have the scum over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in a frenzy today. He essentially doubled down and stated that the fascists were going to regret what they did and that he is now going to “write my stories more aggressively now” and that he is also going to go after the espionage system in England. I really do hope that Greenwald is able to turn up the heat on the bastards but he is entering dark territory now, with the rats being flushed from their nests I have two words of caution for him “Michael Hastings”.  The fiery death of the former Rolling Stone reporter has always been suspicious, both for his abundance of powerful enemies created by his work and his uncompromising and at times arrogant demeanor.  Despotic regimes (and make no mistake that shorn of it’s outwardly benign facade the United States is ruled by one) have no qualms about whacking those whom are bothersome. There is actually quite the history of such things and the list of names is far longer than I am going to go into at this time and it is entirely possible that Greenwald will soon be on it if the smears and intimidation don’t get the message across.
But the only way to fight the machine is to keep pushing to get the truth out, as historian Anthony Sutton once put it - “Be patient, spread the word among friends, do your little bit. The system will self-destruct because it is funded on corruption and untruth.” And implode it will if we ALL do our little part.
The Obama administration and it’s fascist deep state are rightfully scared of something very badly and that something is an awakened populace that will bring their system of corruption down with them at the bottom of the rubble.
