Chump Change: Obama’s NSA “Reforms”

Not that this is exactly earth-shattering news but El Presidente of The Homeland, commander of the U.S. killer drone fleet and overlord of the U.S. Stasi unconstitutional surveillance programs just pissed down the backs of all Americans today and told them that it was raining. The much hyped speech today on the NSA gathering of metadata on the phone calls of millions of law-abiding American citizens was delivered in the grand hall of the Department of Injustice and the bullshit artist in chief delivered a masterpiece of spin, obfuscation and long stale talking points as he doubled down on the fascist surveillance state. The speech will be cheered by the state-corporate paparazzi, marveled at by the corrupt political class whom most of are also being spied upon and gobbled up like precious little morsels as evidence of that archaic fraud that is “checks and balances” still exist.  Hang your heads in shame today my fellow Americans, it may not have been a jabbering George W. Bush unable to string together three consecutive coherent sentences to justify his own rottten administrations gross violations of civil liberties but Obama was every bit his equal this morning in Washington D.C.

Both famous showman P.T. Barnum who famously proclaimed "there's a sucker born every minute" as well as the caustic great American writer H.L. Mencken "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard" came to mind today as Barry ascended the bully pulpit to assert control over that is not controllable. Really though, all of this stuff is way above his pay grade anyway and he is now a scant three years from being able to cash out to the fully taxpayer funded life of luxury and permanent Secret Service protection to play golf with his fellow retired war criminals. The man after all as we are so often reminded while having that big red, white and blue shit sandwich shoved forcibly down our throats a constitutional law professor a Harvard educated one too.
The Obama speech, viewed by a rapturous audience of national scum and villainy at which CIA Director John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence, the perjurer James Clapper had front row seats is even at this early stage being both venerated and vilified. Obama promised to end the NSA surveillance on allied heads of state (which will now likely be outsourced to CGHQ and Mossad to provide the appropriate level of plausible deniability) as well as ensured Americans one more time, using the same parsed and processed weasel words that their phone calls are not being listened to:

This brings me to the program that has generated the most controversy these past few months -- the bulk collection of telephone records under Section 215. Let me repeat what I said when this story first broke: This program does not involve the content of phone calls, or the names of people making calls. Instead, it provides a record of phone numbers and the times and lengths of calls -- metadata that can be queried if and when we have a reasonable suspicion that a particular number is linked to a terrorist organization.

But this is hogwash, former government contractor turned NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden's documents show that the NSA surveillance does not work this way and the establishment focus on only telephone metadata ignores the ugly truth that emails, texts, purchasing records, political affiliations are all being collected and stored for ominous future use that has yet to be defined.

And he of course invoked the great post-9/11 big lie that all of this is necessary to protect us all from the devil of the day (which is never the rogue destructive force that is our own rancid, corrupt and power mad government) as Barry delivers the goods in this particularly nasty proclamation: "The reforms I'm proposing today should give the American people greater confidence that their rights are being protected, even as our intelligence and law enforcement agencies maintain the tools they need to keep us safe". It was vintage Hitler 101.

Perhaps the most shameless piece of  presidential chicanery since the paranoid control freak Richard M. Nixon (he of the Checkers speech) occupied the Oval Office was Obama's invocation of the same Revolutionary War horseshit that the Republican co-opted tea party uses to revise history for political purposes. Barry's first lines were:

"At the dawn of our Republic, a small, secret surveillance committee borne out of the “The Sons of Liberty” was established in Boston. And the group’s members included Paul Revere. At night, they would patrol the streets, reporting back any signs that the British were preparing raids against America’s early Patriots."

Anyone with any decency was already looking for their barf bags, the so-called tea party plutocratic propaganda was stolen away by a corrupt regime that has far more in common with the oppressive Brits of days of yore that the founding fathers. I have always said that the useful idiots in the Dick Armey of Darkness that was the 'tea party" (stolen from the original libertarian movement) that they were truly advocating in favor of the tyranny of King George as they pranced around like fools in their costumes to support tax dodging chiselers and polluting plutocrats. It is the ultimate irony that Obama would now steal away their very shtick to defend the fascist surveillance state.

There will be more than enough time to dissect Obama's sales pitch today and much will be forthcoming. What now should be of much concern is those additional revelations of NSA programs that are even worse than the ones that we already know about but there are ways of dealing with that. Obama referenced Snowden by name twice in today's orgy of spin and deflection which could be a sign that the man's days are numbered. As I previously wrote in my recent piece for Collapse.com "Would Obama Authorize Snowden's Assassination"  as well as a piece by liberal blogger David Sirota that is entitled "Pentagon & NSA officials say they want Snowden extrajudicially assassinated" the idea of taking him out has likely now become a serious option. Just as rumors of a $5 million dollar bitcoin bounty on the head of journalist Glenn Greenwald are cropping up.

Hell hath no fury like that of a criminal state scorned, history shows this and having to be subjected to the indignity of even having to give today's lying speech has likely infuriated Obama and the establishment to the point where once the sheep and schmucks have been pacified that the official kill list is likely to be expanded. Once again I quote H.L. Mencken:

"The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable."

When the damage control has been done then such "dangerous" persons will soon find themselves in the crosshairs of a malignant parasite that is hellbent on continuing to occupy the host which is our previously constitutional form of government.
