Obama Regime's Russia Provocations a Nuclear Accident Waiting to Happen

There is one ominous news item this week - or maybe it is just more propaganda because who really knows anymore - and that is that two Russian bombers were reportedly spotted by NORAD just outside US airspace off the California coast.  Throw in the neocon-infested crackerjack foreign policy team of the Obama administration who in their infinite wisdom decided to send Putin a message by dispatching two nuclear capable B2 Stealth bombers to Europe as another provocation in the ongoing dick-measuring contest between the two leaders and we now live in an environment as dangerous as any since the Cold War era. That however may be an understatement in that this is worse and therefore more dangerous simply because of the final evolution of American cowboy foreign policy and the lunatic neocons who drive the war machine with their embedded operatives in the highest places and a propaganda machine that is a virtual monument of tribute to the grand master Joseph Goebbels.

Interestingly although belatedly the state-corporate media here in The Homeland has recently published stories about the nuclear accident that nearly obliterated North Carolina back in 1961. Finally making a breakthrough nearly a year after The Guardian originally reported the story of the "Goldsboro Incident", the American news flagship CNN faced with dwindling attempts to exploit the missing Malaysian airplane reports via their website in a story headlined "Declassified report: Two nuclear bombs nearly detonated in North Carolina":

On a January night in 1961, a U.S. Air Force bomber broke in half while flying over eastern North Carolina. From the belly of the B-52 fell two bombs -- two nuclear bombs that hit the ground near the city of Goldsboro.

A disaster worse than the devastation wrought in Hiroshima and Nagasaki could have befallen the United States that night. But it didn't, thanks to a series of fortunate missteps.

Declassified documents that the National Security Archive released this week offered new details about the incident. The blaring headline read: "Multi-Megaton Bomb Was Virtually 'Armed' When It Crashed to Earth."

Or, as Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara put it in back then, "By the slightest margin of chance, literally the failure of two wires to cross, a nuclear explosion was averted."

It's difficult to calculate the destruction those bombs might have caused had they detonated in North Carolina.

The incident referred to was discovered based on obtained by writer Eric Schlosser under the Freedom of Information Act while researching his latest book "Command and Control".  The book is about the history of the U.S. nuclear program and documents a number of close calls that could have were they to have going the other way resulted in the real version of those smoking guns as mushroom clouds that were used to sell the Iraq disaster. The North Carolina incident would have been devastating for the Eastern seaboard had the last of four safety switches did what it was supposed to do after the other three failed.

The bombs were onboard a B-52 that underwent some sort of structural failure in mid-air therefore dumping the bombs – each of which was 260 times more powerful than the one that was dropped on Hiroshima - onto North Carolina. It is a very fortunate thing  for all of us today that the disaster was averted because the war-mongering freaks in the defense establishment would certainly have blamed it on the Russians setting off a global nuclear holocaust. Those were the days when the legendary General Curtis ‘Bombs  Away’  LeMay, a man who had an absolute hard-on for a first strike on the Soviet Union and had the self-inflicted nuclear wound actually manifested itself he and his fellow hawks would have surely used the opportunity to send in the bombers. LeMay was the basis for the George C. Scott character, General Buck Turgidson in Dr. Strangelove and the prototype for the militarist maniacs of the future including of course a certain crazed Senator from Arizona who has been integral in the current charge towards hostilities with Russia, whether it be schmoozing with neo-Nazi thugs in Kiev or more recently just happening to show up in Bulgaria to kill that country's pipeline deal with Putin. McCain would be a perfect choice to play the Slim Pickens part of Major T.J. "King" Kong riding the bomb down to the target but he only sends others to die for his pathological bloodlust. 

Mr. Schlosser, an outstanding investigative journalist whose gut-churning book "Fast Food Nation" convinced me years ago to change my eating habits seems to have found a winning topic for his long awaited follow-up.  "Command and Control" details a number of serious close calls where a nuclear weapon could have ended up going off in America out of happenstance, bad luck, poor planning and just some of that good old fashioned big government idiocy that never fails to fail in planning for contingencies. One of the incidents in the book is the so called “Damascus Incident” where a dropped tool happened to breach the skin of a Titan II missile armed with a thermonuclear warhead.  This happened in Arkansas back in 1980 when none other than Slick Willie was the sitting governor. Unfortunately there isn't mention of the bizarre 2007 incident when six nuclear missiles were somehow without any authorization loaded onto a Stratofortress bomber and flown out of Minot, North Dakota. This which came at the time when the Cheney faction of the George W. Bush administration was pushing for a war on Iran has never been adequately explained and there are tales of a number of strange deaths involving personnel of both Minot and Barksdale A.F.B. Just another of those ugly little situations where there never is a satisfactory explanation and all doubters of the official government story are rapidly sent off to sit in the corner wearing tin foil dunce hats.

The world is coming apart now, thanks largely to the Iraq catastrophe initiated by the Bush regime now blowing up at the most inopportune of times when Obama and his warmongers are engaged in creating the bloodbath of an atrocity filled environment in East Ukriane in the hopes of goading Putin into invading. The military and political elite are fully chock a block with lunatics - particularly within NATO - with one huge difference between today's world domination fetishists and their early Cold War counterparts who while insane were at least competent.

It is a very American phenomenon, putting the most dangerous weapons in the history of mankind into the hands of the least responsible and completely stupid individuals running the most powerful institutions on the planet.  They are freaks who dig playing Russian roulette with millions of other people’s lives in the balance, so far the chamber has always been empty when the trigger was pulled but our luck will eventually run out.  Sooner rather than later too.

Obama Doubles Down on Iraq War Catastrophe

When you find yourself in a hole the smart idea is to stop digging, that is unless it is a grave. With the situation in Iraq deteriorating by the minute, thanks to the neocon ideologues who goaded George W. Bush into attacking and invading the country in 2003 the now fully blossomed leader of the imperial war machine is prepared to once again sink more American blood and treasure into the Mesopotamian meat-grinder rather than stand up on his hind legs to the keening squealing of the war pigs. The grand "Shock and Awe" adventure of using the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as an excuse to settle a family score with Saddam Hussein is now as critics once warned becoming the greatest foreign policy disaster in US history and Obama is ready to begin the air strikes against the militant Islamic uprising that is raging through the war-ravaged country and heading directly towards the Green Zone.  I hope that the profiteers who fleeced the American taxpayer to construct that grand palace of a US embassy included helicopter decks because the way that this is going conjures up images of the fall of Saigon.

The American elite are so drunk on their own propaganda, their crusading arrogance and a pathological hubris driven by the obscene concept of American exceptionalism that has within it sown the seeds or our own destruction that any acknowledgement to the lessons of history are not only ignored but spat upon by the best and the brightest whose only real talent is the spectacular fuck-up.  The worst thing that has ever happened to the American people and this country's image as well as whatever moral high ground was once occupied was the fall of the Soviet Union - a triumphal moment that was proclaimed to be "the end of history" by the think tank dwelling masters of the universe who were the brat pack of the post World War II era. But Barack Obama firmly within that camp for the huge self-inflicted wound that he is about to deliver to America in committing the beleaguered  US military to more violence in Iraq - in addition to his NATO gamesmanship that is getting ever closer to igniting a war with Russia that cold being an end to the empire if not the planet itself.

This is a man who is a fool and one who has shanked the country in the back in paying far too much attention to his legacy, the grand taxpayer funded presidential library that will be erected in his honor one day in the Windy City like the idols and Sphinxes of the Egyptian Pharoahs to consider the ramifications of the renewed involvement in Iraq. The decision has already been made according to some ominous accounts, I excerpt the following from The Guardian "Obama pledges US support to Iraq as Isis militants approach Baghdad":

President Barack Obama pledged the US would help the Iraqi government push back an Islamic insurgency threatening to overwhelm Baghdad on Thursday, saying he had “not ruled anything out”.

Amid mounting pressure in Washington for a robust response to the rapid advances made by forces of the Islamic State and the Levant (Isis), the White House is understood to be examining a number of options including air support for Baghdad.

But he also said the advance of the Islamists should act as a "wake-up call" to the Shia-dominated government of prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, who has been accused of running a partisan government that has alienated the Sunni minority.

In brief comments to reporters after a meeting with Australian prime minister Tony Abbott, Obama said he was watching the situation in Iraq with concern and wants to ensure that jihadists do not get a foothold.The crisis escalated rapidly on Thursday as Iraqi Kurdish forces took control of key military installations in the major oil city of Kirkuk and the Sunni jihadi group Isis revealed its intention to move on Baghdad and cities in the southern Shia heartland.

Obama admitted that the scale of the insurgency in recent days demonstrated the need for more help. “I don’t rule out anything because we do have a stake in making sure that these jihadists are not getting a permanent foot hold in either Iraq or Syria, for that matter.” The president said his national security advisers were “looking at all the options”.

Obama is too self-absorbed, too much of a power crazed, insulated narcissist to bother to consider that actions have consequences - bombing the shit out of the ISIS militants - who Obama himself bears a good deal of the blame for in arming vicious jihadists to topple the Assad regime in Syria - just may be the triggering event of the collapse of the entire rotten fucking house of cards. Particularly the economy because the oil speculators are already masturbating themselves raw over the payoff that will allow them to stick it to Americans at the pump with impunity. A gas price spike that drives pump costs to around 6 bucks a gallon would be catastrophic and could finally be the spark that ignites the smoldering but yet to ignite protests against the Empire at home. The defeat of the corrupt Republican House Majority leader Eric Cantor on Tuesday by an unknown who railed against Wall Street should be taken as what it is - a sign that judgement day is coming for the corrupt oligarchy that has subverted American democracy to lavish riches upon politically connected crooks, big banking houses and military arms hucksters.

The anger is building in what remains of this once great country and the pitchforks and torches outnumber the militarized police forces of the state - and many of them may join the party instead of defend the indefensible on the day when the shit finally hits the fan.

Obama is sitting on a powder keg and playing with matches and is flying so high off of his own perceived historical greatness that the he will be the one who is most surprised when it detonates.

Neocons Dragging US Back to Iraq

Now that the region is erupting anew with the storming of Iraq by radical jihadist elements such as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and the franchise that is al Qaeda the warmongers and neocons in The Homeland are shrieking like banshees over Obama's "loss" of Iraq. The current chaos though would not be possible were it not for the original sin of attacking Iraq in 2003, toppling Saddam Hussein who was subsequently lynched and showing that America was no better than it's former puppet in continuing the torture at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. The country was also plunged into sectarian violence, bombed to smithereens - the civilian death toll is staggering - and had the indignity of having to see one US puppet replaced with another with no real benefit to the country nor the people. Now it is all going up like a flaming bag of dogshit in Uncle Scam's hand.

To be fair on this one the disaster in Iraq is not Obama's fault, were the Bushreich not to have lied the American public into an illegal and unnecessary war based on a pack of lies about Saddam's phantom weapons of mass destruction there would still be stable country, granted that Saddam was a bastard but he was our bastard. Obama has been far too busy avenging his offense at being humiliated by Russian leader Vladimir Putin over his giving asylum to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and later intervening to stop what would have been a catastrophic war in Syria. Obama has more important things to do than dick around with Iraq with pushing to start a new Cold War and perhaps stumble into World War III. Robert Parry at Consortium News puts it best in his latest piece over at Consortium News entitled "Blaming Obama for Iraq's Chaos" from which I excerpt:

After Islamic militants captured the major Iraqi city of Mosul on Tuesday, the danger of Official Washington’s false narratives again asserted itself, a direct consequence of the failure to enforce any meaningful accountability on the neocons and others who pushed the Iraq War.

The emerging neocon-preferred narrative is that the jihadist victory in the northern city of Mosul and the related mess in neighboring Syria are the fault of President Barack Obama for not continuing the U.S. military occupation of Iraq indefinitely and for not intervening more aggressively in Syria’s civil war.

For instance, the New York Times on Wednesday wrote that “the swift capture of large areas of [Mosul] by militants aligned with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria represented a climactic moment on a long trajectory of Iraq’s unraveling since the withdrawal of American forces at the end of 2011.”

What is perhaps most striking about such accounts, which are appearing across the major U.S. media, is that the narrative doesn’t go back to the most obvious starting point: President George W. Bush’s illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003. It was that invasion and the ensuing occupation that hurtled Iraq and – to an extent – Syria into their current chaos.

Bush’s invasion, which was justified by bogus claims about Iraq hiding weapons of mass destruction, was in clear violation of international law, lacking the explicit approval of the United Nations Security Council. Yet, even after the WMD falsehoods were exposed and the body counts soared, there was almost no accountability enforced either on the public officials who carried out the aggressive war or on the opinion leaders who rationalized it.

In many cases, the same pundits and pols continue to shape U.S. public opinion today and are dominating the narratives on Iraq and Syria. Thus, there is almost no attention to the fact that before the U.S. overthrow (and subsequent hanging) of Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, there was no al-Qaeda threat in Iraq or Syria.

Mr. Parry goes on to debunk the myth of "The Surge" which was nothing more than a propaganda term for a brief escalation of violence led by the hallowed General David Petraeus and his rat pack of media whore supporters as well as the always bloodthirsty Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham. The "Surge" was of course bullshit and primarily targeted at putting a sunny side up spin on what was in essence a humiliating defeat for the US and the neocons of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) whose lunacy had contributed to the disaster in the first place. Now in 2014 many of the same culprits for the Iraq debacle are being afforded legitimacy that then don't deserve by a corrupt media whose only purpose it to shill for wars and protect the interests of the oligarchy and the political elite who serve them. Case in point - the New York Times has once again featured a story by the dutiful neocon lackey Michael Gordon "Iraq Said to Seek U.S. Strikes on Militants" which will be what the war party will push along with their standard "stabbed in the back" whining as they agitate for a re-engagement of US forces in Iraq to "finish the job" this time.

The neocon propaganda beacon over at the Washington Post has a real knee-slapper today, a column by an Iraq war veteran decrying the overrunning of Iraq entitled  "Iraq veteran: This is not what my friends fought and died for" rehashing the old Vietnam canard of "they didn't let us win".  The writer is described in the sub-header as:  John Nagl, a veteran of both Iraq wars, is the headmaster of The Haverford School and author of the forthcoming "Knife Fights: A Memoir of Modern War." - just another death pimp hustling a book and playing on the gullibility of Americans whose bogus concern for veterans only surfaces when political fodder is needed. So the neocons will be doing what they always do in caterwauling about the global Islamic takeover and calling for the government to send more US servicemen and women to die for their vainglorious stupidity and failed ideology.  This should do wonders for the collapsing house of cards economy that has already been gutted by wars of choice as well as the entire Veterans Administration healthcare system that is understaffed, underfunded and can't book appointments fast enough for the victims and buddies of guys like Nagl let alone a new wave of permanently damaged victims who will be sacrificed upon the neocon altar of lies. 

New US Puppet in Kiev: Chocolate King Escalates Violence

The much hyped elections in Ukraine (at least the US-EU-NATO backed part of the country) took place on Sunday and have enthroned another greedy oligarch in Petro Poroshenko aka “The Chocolate King”. Despite much of the besieged country, under attack by the global finance mafia, rapacious corporations - like gas company Burisma Holdings which in one of those cozy crony capitalist mob deals just hired VP Joe Biden's son R.Hunter Biden to divvy up the spoils - and savage neo-Nazis that serve as the muscle for the coup regime of Arseniy Yatsenuyk or as he is affectionately referred to by State Department neocon Victoria "Fuck the EU" Nuland - not being able to vote. The election of the candy man is just another one of those staged by the state-corporate media for the benefit of the schmucks illusions that this once great country now must suffer on a near daily basis.

Let the austerity begin - but first there is killing to be done and the eager to please Poroshenko has already adopted the US talking points in referring to anti-fascist, anti-austerity "rebels" in the East as "terrorists". Only in America can raw horseshit like this be sold to so many eager buyers - wasn't the entire fucking premise of the overthrow of democratically elected leader Viktor Yanukovych that he was a sleazy oligarch whoring out to foreign interests and shitting on toilets made of gold? Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. If there is one minor benefit to soon to be fleeced by the IMF and other global piranhas is that the deranged Yulia Tymoshenko aka “The Gas Princess” was thrashed soundly along with her avowed referendum to start WWIII by locking down a death pact with NATO. Small matter of consolation to the victims of the latest violent escalation by the illicit regime - chocolate mogul or not - that has unleashed a new wave of carnage including the use of military helicopters against civilians.

The porcine Poroshenko will be a big hit with the neocons at Foggy Bottom and in the Obama White House, Barry himself probably can't be more thrilled now that he has more cover for the actions of his Reagan style death squads as they continue to wantonly murder civilians. The stammering ass himself, John "Skull and Bones" Kerry has already come out and spoken glowingly of the new order in Ukraine. Per The Guardian:

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, said that Sunday’s presidential elections in Ukraine sent a “clear message” that the country's people want to “live in a united, democratic and peaceful Ukraine anchored in European institutions”.

Though Kerry's statement, issued on Monday, did not name President Vladimir Putin of Russia by name, his comments on the all but certain electoral victory of the pro-west businessman Petro Poroshenko were clearly directed towards Moscow.

High praise coming from a man who has continually tried to sell a new war to Americans based on false flag sarin gas attacks in Syria but Kerry has no honor, nor any shame, he is a true creature of the financial elite who when the wet work has been done in East Ukraine will descend like vultures to loot in an orgiastic frenzy while Poroshenko wipes his ass with American hundred dollar bills. Men like John Forbes Kerry represent the worst elements in the diseased character of those who have seized control of America, he once apparently stood for principle - at least in the aftermath of his Vietnam service but with the way this horse-faced charlatan conducts himself one has to wonder whether the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were onto something. Kerry made it a point to dig his bony nose into Putin's chest with his comments that the farcical elections (omitting the ongoing murders) were a "clear message" to Russia.

Is there any wonder why the entire civilized world hates America so much? I mean is this the best that we have to offer? 

This bullshit election does nothing to remedy the neocon coup d'etat disaster in Ukraine, it only worsens matters and the Chocolate King is already mouthing off about Crimea too so instead of deescalating this mess the Obama regime is only hastening what now appears to be our imminent date with historical infamy. 

All because these slimy, criminal psychopaths like Obama had their poor egos bruised by the big bad Putin. 

In Definition of Irony Neocons Bring "Democracy" to Ukraine

The crusading, regime-changing neoconservatives and the bad-ass US imperialist war machine have now succeeded in bringing "democracy" to Ukraine, only not in the way that they intended. Today's referendum in East Ukraine to split from the US backed neo-Nazi and fascist infested unelected government in Kiev will likely be a resounding triumph for those who refuse to be crushed under the jackboot of US-EU-NATO forced austerity - good for them. Despite the saturation propaganda that has been pumped out in The Homeland portraying the federalists of Russian ethnicity as "rebels", "terrorists" and "Russian loyalists" and the whirlwind to whip up a frenzy leading to at least a new Cold War (that would send munitions sales skyrocketing) and perhaps a hot war with the big bad bear the people who know, and who truly matter - the Ukrainian citizens are exercising their right to self-determination. No matter how many thugs and as has been reported by German media, private corporate mercenaries that can be unleashed by Barack Obama, John Kerry, Geoffrey Pyatt, Victoria "Fuck the EU" Nuland (aka Nudelman) and the rest of the scum pushing this disaster - the spirit of resistance will ultimately win out over our fully run amok, collapsing and panic stricken Empire.

While Eastern Ukrainians go to the polls - in one case being fired on by "guardsmen" which is now the latest term glommed onto by the corrupt state-corporate media to polish the turd that are US backed neo-Nazis - there will soon be an independent breakaway region that will like Crimea likely return to Mother Russia. This has really got to put a bug up the asses out of all of those rapacious corporate pricks that Nudelman boasted to during that Washington DC Press Club December 2013 speech about the $5 billion stolen from the American taxpayers to destabilize Ukraine and throw open the doors to the business of plunder. At this point the corporate and financial predatory Deep State should be seriously thinking of cutting that chunk of blubber Nuland (aka Nudelman) loose along with everyone else responsible for the clusterfuck that was the coup d'etat that installed the corporate stooge "Yats" and set this entire thing into motion. The key will be how the US backed goons,  neo-Nazis, fascists, mercenaries and their FBI and CIA support in Kiev will respond. Things could get pretty ugly if another incident like that which happened at the Odessa trade union building were to take place, it could be civil war.

The US establishment, particularly the neocons and the increasingly fiendish Obama and Kerry don't have a very good track record when it comes to civil wars. They completely botched Syria although they nearly succeeded in lying the American public into another huge Middle East war based on lies about that Sarin gas attack in the Ghouta suburb of Damascus before Putin saved the day and today there is an account in The Guardian that bears notice. I excerpt from the story entitled "Syria crisis: Iran and Assad have won, say top Tehran foreign policy figures":

Iran and its close ally President Bashar al-Assad have won the war in Syria, and the US-orchestrated campaign in support of the opposition's attempt to topple the Syrian regime has failed, senior Iranian officials have told the Guardian.

In a series of interviews in Tehran, top figures who shape Iranian foreign policy said the west's strategy in Syria had merely encouraged radicals, caused chaos and ultimately backfired, with government forces now on the front foot.

"We have won in Syria," said Alaeddin Borujerdi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy committee and an influential government insider. "The regime will stay. The Americans have lost it."

This is what happens when the US backs extremists to further Deep State geopolitical aims. I mean what the hell can be expected when throwing in with flesh-eating Islamist militants in Syria or for that matter Neo-Nazis in Ukraine and particularly the Mujahideen one of whom was Osama bin Laden? The term is "Blowback" and the arrogant idiot political class and the insane neocons who are running US foreign policy are setting the stage for decades of it.
