Renegade Senate Preps to Deliver Iran War for 2014

Working largely on the behalf of a foreign power an unprecedented U.S. Senate power play is about to drag the United States into what is to be a ruinously costly and potentially catastrophic war with Iran. In the latest and to this point most serious effort to sabotage the P5+1 talks with Iran on limiting nuclear programs in exchange for easing of sanctions the U.S. Congress is now preparing to act against the long term safety and security interests of the American people in ensuring that war will be coming. The effort is led by the normal rat pack of warmongering swine the likes of John McCain, Lindsey Graham , the callow and opportunistic Marco Rubio, Wall Street’s very own Chuck Schumer and the Texas Zamboni Ted Cruz being the most vocal and media accessible shills for WW III. The bill itself, a piece of trash being pimped under the name of the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act ensures that there will be the exact type of additional sanctions applied that the Iranian’s have stated would end the negotiations. 

Christ knows that we certainly could never enter into any sort of rational and normal sort of relationship with the oil rich Iran allowing the U.S. to tell the degenerate, terrorist supporters in the House of Saud to go and pound sand. Hell, when fifteen of the nineteen September 11, 2001 hailed from The Kingdom the biggest question that should be asked is why did Bush attack Afghanistan and Iraq instead of Riyadh.But the constantly carping Saudis, led by Prince Bandar bin Sultan (aka Bandar Bush) aren’t the most meddlesome in the Iran provocations, they have already destabilized Syria by funding Islamic militants and then watching as their efforts to have Barry and the boys start a war that would primarily benefit them go up like a flaming bag of dogshit.

The real problem with the now extremely dangerous push to start the long agitated for Iran debacle is of course the right-wing regime of Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu. This has been the case for too long now and to this point has been the one grave mistake that the corrupt, incompetent and psychopathic regimes in Washington haven’t made. It was looking like a go back during the Bush regime but Dubya wisely overruled Dick Cheney on this one and Obama became president and Bibi Netanyahu became Prime Minister of Israel in 2009. Despite his constant hysteria, bullying, allies within the U.S. media and political system and ridiculous drawings of cartoon bombs at the United Nations Netanyahu has thus far been unable to push the U.S. into waging the war that he lacks the balls to carry out on his own, sending his own people into the meat grinder instead of American servicemen and women.

Now that has all changed as desperation oozes Bibi's pores for a peace deal with Iran would mean that he is only Sir Winston Churchill in his own warped mind. Netanyahu has shed any pretenses of rationality and a respect for letting the government that pumps billions of dollars of taxpayer money (largely military aid)into his country every year in mobilizing his stooges in Congress. The “Nuclear Free Weapon Iran Act” is the lovechild of a bipartisan coalition (notice how well they all get along when it comes to murdering non-white, non-Christian people?) led by New Jersey Senator Robert Mendez and Illinois Senator Mark Kirk who according to comments made via telephone to a private audience revealed who his true constituents are. Kirk regularly receives a boatload of money from AIPAC (American Israeli Public Affairs Committee) which is mounting an all out offensive to slap deal-killing sanctions on Iran and put the U.S. on a path to war. Menendez, who is the chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee and I do put the emphasis on "foreign" as according to the website Open Secrets led all members of the Senate in receiving payola from Israeli interest groups for 2012.  He also has a had a rather interesting recent run in with a prostitution scandal of the type that would make a member of this rotten congress susceptible to the type of sexual blackmail that could influence voting.  The big push for the Menendez-Kirk 'Screw America" bill has caused consternation to the point where an open letter from ten committee chairs - including DiFI - was sent to Senate Majority Leader and Democrat party poobah Harry Reid warning explicitly of the threat to the Iran talks and even the feckless Obama has threatened a veto. With 26 "bipartisan" co-sponsors, the lobbying might of AIPAC and Bibi's continued demagoguery this thing is going to pass early next year. Palmetto State Princess Lindsay Graham has her panties in a wad over a promised "veto proof majority". Jesus, wouldn't it be nice to see this venal pack of assholes manage 67 votes for something that benefits America.

The renegade Senate managed to slither out of D.C. for their latest taxpayer paid vacation prior to getting their dirty deal done but rest assured that it will be at the top of the list come January when they return. The deranged Netanyahu is hellbent at punching his ticket with history and dragging Americans along on the descent into hell.  This Reuters article lets slip that any facade that hid his meddling in congress and concealing his control of U.S. politicians is now no longer important to the 'new Churchill':

Taking even wider aim, Netanyahu said negotiators should demand a change to Iran's "genocidal policy" toward Israel, manifested through its supply of thousands of missiles to Palestinian and Lebanese militants, and its calls for the Jewish state's destruction.

The wish list has received a cool reception in Washington, will be given short shrift by Iran and was described as "crazy" by a senior Western diplomat. But experts believe the Israeli leader wants to put pressure on President Barack Obama and prevent U.S.-Iranian ties from thawing too far, too fast.

One way to do that would be to send a message to Israel's supporters on Capitol Hill. The Senate has already sparred with Obama over whether new sanctions against Iran should be prepared.

A former Netanyahu adviser, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said U.S. legislators were Netanyahu's target audience.

"It's one thing for Congress to hold off on imposing sanctions, quite another for it to cancel sanctions under a final deal with Iran. Netanyahu wants to help set the tone in Congress and he doesn't mind if Obama notices."

There is a growing sense in Washington that Netanyahu has accepted it is unlikely he can derail the negotiations, so he may have reverted to spoiling tactics, however unpopular they may be in Obama's administration.

"I can't believe the Americans are happy about (Netanyahu) sounding off the way he is at this critical point in time," said one Israeli official, who has direct knowledge of recent White House consultations between U.S. and Israeli experts on Iran.

The United States views engagement with the new, relatively moderate government in Iran as a chance to defuse more than three decades of tensions.

While the piece accurately (and surprisingly) fingers Bibi for mustering his cats paws in congress it fails to note that the reference to " defuse more than three decades of tensions" in Iran are the result of the CIA backed 1953 coup against the democratically elected leader Mohammad Mossadegh and led to the reign of terror of the  U.S. puppet Shah of Iran and his torture regime. The state-corporate media's greatest lies are those of omission and perhaps there is no greater of an omission than a discussion of Israel's own nuclear weapons when it comes to the invocation of the Iran's nukes. Given the increasingly fascistic track that Netanyahu's country has placed itself on as well as it's extreme and unstable leadership would it not be the safest course for the planet to ensure that neither Iran nor Israel had a nuclear weapons capability?

With the Senate now gone fully rogue with no aspersions of any longer concealing who and what they truly represent (it ain't America folks) we now enter a truly perilous time in history. With it fully obvious that none of the Menendez-Kirk jihadists have ever been made subject to the Foreign Agents Registration Act and are hellbent on self-immolation for the sake of a foreign country the future is bleak.  The collapse that has to this point been put off is coming now and all Americans need to consider what they need to do in order to protect themselves and their families.

"Thank God For France": Iran Talks Torpedoed

There will be no Neocon mockery of the French as “cheese eating surrender monkeys” nor will the House cafeteria rename their greasy fried spuds as “freedom fries” this time. With a stick save on behalf of  the western war machine the French delegation harpooned this weekend’s Iran talks. Despite years of being the butt of jokes this endeared them to the blood thirsty American hawks, the right-wing Netanyahu regime in Israel and a certain fork-tongued serpent that goes by the name of Prince Bandar. The warmongers even got the predictable endorsement by the Palmetto State princess Lindsey Graham from his normal Sunday morning perch on one of the loathsome Sabbath talk shows form which the coming week’s establishment talking points are launched.

Not to be bothered with doing anything but doubling down on his ridiculous press conference that came on the heels of the now discredited 60 Minutes Benghazi scoop, Graham lisped in his finest Gomer Pyle singsong that his tantrum would continue over Barry’s nominees. Not that I expected much from the inhabitants of the Fox-mosphere but when do any of these vitriolic assholes ever get called on any of this, especially when pushing one of their trademark silly snits behind a propaganda vehicle that has been exposed as a total crock of shit? On CNN's State of the Union Graham continued to stand upon the wall of his Benghazi house of cards as if he were defending the Alamo all while the bloated sow of a hostess Candy Crowley refused to put him on the spot. Graham then rapidly segued from the absurd into the standard talking points by shifting the topic to Iran again, leading the Israeli-Saudi domestic advocacy for Middle East Armageddon by announcing that more sanctions were coming, squawking "you can't trust the Iranians" repeatedly as though he were some gaily festooned parrot propped upon Captain Ahab Netanyahu’s beefy shoulder.

Despite efforts to defuse the Iranian nuclear situation (which is bogus) and move on towards better international relations with an energy rich nation that could once and for all allow us to slice off the festering sore on our national ass that is the House of Saud the agitators continue to sell WW III. Don’t expect to see any of the pathetic corporate-state media in this country to offer up anything but the same stale talking points, note that last week the shameless Richard Engle was still bemoaning the foiling of the attack on Syria, this is rich from an NBC dispatch with no disclaimer that Engle’s employer also happens to be owned by an enormous defense contractor which would profit extravagantly from more war:

CAIRO -- Bashar Assad got away with it.

Only a few months ago, Syria's president was a widely-condemned rogue leader whose police state had just launched poison gas on commuter villages outside Damascus. Fourteen-hundred people, including hundreds of children, were choked to death, their nervous systems shut down by the gas that seeped into their homes. And the world watched it happen in unprecedented detail. Images of the attack seeped into even far corners of the Internet.

It took more than a year to determine the extent of the vicious shelling in the Syrian city of Hama in 1982 by Assad’s father. The death toll from that massacre remains disputed, but estimates from news agencies and non-governmental organizations put the total at around 20,000. This time, however, cellphones, tablets and social media exposed the horrors of what happened outside Damascus, almost in real time. Syrian activists posted live updates as bodies were buried in rows in mass graves. The hours of graphic videos of dead babies on hospital floors are accessible for free to anyone with an Internet connection.

Yet, somehow, Assad not only got away with the gas attack, but appears to have also emerged stronger after it. How is that possible?

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a lot to do with it. By stepping into the standoff between Syria and the U.S., he tossed Assad a lifeline that also allowed President Barack Obama to forgo intervening in a conflict most Americans wanted no part in after a decade of costly wars in distant Muslim lands.

Assad’s price for the monstrous attack, his punishment, was to give up his chemical weapons in an internationally-supervised process. Destroying the weapons is a net positive for the world -- fewer deadly tools in the hands of a dangerous regime -- but it’s not much of a price for Syria to pay. It’s like getting away with mass murder with only a fine.

In exchange for destroying the poison gas and the factories that make it -- a process that’s almost impossible to verify -- there would be no U.S. military strike. Assad would get to stay in power and continue his war with "conventional weapons," including artillery and Scud missile attacks on civilian areas, napalm dropped on schools, and starving the opposition into submission. Even more shocking is that Assad has weathered the crisis appearing to the world as reasonable, rational and ready to compromise.

While Putin threw Assad -- and Obama -- a lifeline, it was the rebels themselves who helped the Syrian president rehabilitate his image. The rebels are increasingly associated with al Qaeda fanatics who have hijacked their revolution. The al Qaeda rebels kidnap journalists who want to tell their story, and aid workers who try to bring food and medicine.

Assad’s government says it will take part in peace talks. The rebels refuse.

Assad says he’s fighting terrorists. Some of the rebels make him look like he has a point. This Ramadan, Assad should send Putin and al Qaeda fruit baskets.

Now there is some serious manure slinging. You just have to love the talking point about “fruit baskets” for the hated Putin and al Qaeda. Engle would never bother to admit that the U.S. is indirectly funding the organization through support for the fanatical rebels who are ransacking churches and openly boast of barbaric actions including cannibalism. Hell, why bother with something as small as a fruit basket when you can send the terrorists the biggest motherfucking fruit basket ever in the form of weapons deals to induce the sabotage of the Iranian negotiations. That is reportedly what Bandar Bush offered to the “cheese eating surrender monkeys” in order to bribe French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius to sink the talks and save the day for Graham and the rest of the blood barters.

The Push to Attack Iran Continues

With the Syrian attack relegated to the back burner for the immediate future thanks to Putin’s brilliant humiliation of Barry and Kerry it has become incumbent for the warmongers to once again try to sell an attack on Iran. This has been ongoing for at least a decade now, it ebbs and flows but is always the apple of the eye of neocons, the weapons industry, oil and natural gas cartels and the entourage of millions on their payroll to push for this most lucrative and ultimately disastrous of wars.  While the strikes on Syria despite weeks of political class hysteria over the gassing of civilians at Ghouta was a deal that Barry and the boys just could not close and one that could have potentially lead to WW III at least Assad had no real ability to militarily threaten the Empire. With Iran that is not the case, it would be an unbelievably stupid, ugly and rapidly escalating series of reactions and counter-reactions that only a lunatic would risk. The bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities would lead to attacks on U.S. ships in the Straits of Hormuz that could effectively close down that key transit point and quadruple oil prices virtually overnight - futures traders would love this. There would be the radioactive fallout from the strikes as well, poisoning thousands of Iranian civilians in ways that would make the still mysterious sarin gassings at Ghouta seem humanitarian by comparison. There is nothing like the damage wrought by radiation poisoning and it lasts, does not dissipate and causes deformations upon the as yet unborn. The Muslim world would immediately be galvanized against the west and Russia and China would not likely be bystanders. Only a lunatic would risk something like this.

Enter one Benjamin Netanyahu, current ruler of Israel and a megalomaniac paranoid with an eye on history and visions of Sir Winston Churchill dancing in his head.  Bibi spent last week engaged in a public relations campaign on American soil to pander to the political foot soldiers who could make that attack on Iran a reality. While difficult to follow up last year's United Nations speech with that ridiculous cartoon bomb the Israeli leader denounced newly minted Iranian president Hassan Rouhani as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" before the world body. Never mind that Rouhani has toned down the incendiary Holocaust denial rhetoric that his predecessor, the freakish Mahmoud Ahmadinejad  used to bait Bibi and which the big man never failed to bite on while in the process legitimizing Ahmadinejad with large percentage of Islamics.  The greatest fear of Netanyahu, a man who relies on the threat of war for his own political survival is that there would be a more moderate approach towards Iran under the new leadership. Obama and Rouhani's much hyped phone call scared the hell of Netanyahu and the tantrum toward's Barry's failure to adequately condemn Iran royally pissed off Israeli officials who have along with their boss spent years trying to get the U.S. to do the heavy lifting as well as bear the burden of any of the blowback of the attack.  Obama's waffling has resulted in the Netanyahu regime's attempt to line up support for an attack by creating an alliance of other Gulf countries, a first strike that would inevitably suck the U.S. into the conflict and trigger the global conflagration that was avoided thanks to Putin's intervention last month.

I would imagine that any such alliance would of course include the aforementioned Bandar Bush and the House of Saud who were reportedly apoplectic that they were unable to goad Obama into attacking the Assad regime in Damascus and are also chafing at a moderated stance towards Iran. The propagandizing will continue in the U.S. corporate-state media which never calls Netanyahu on his horseshit, such as this whopper that Iran is building ICBM's to launch nukes at the American Homeland - this is about as credible as Saddam's trans-Atlantic fleet of chemical weapon spewing drones. There was the rare column this time that Bibi had finally overreached, notably columnist Roger Cohen in the New York Times in the piece entitled Bibi's Tired Iranian Lines from which I excerpt:

Never has it been more difficult for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to convince the world that, as he put it in 2006: “It’s 1938. Iran is Germany.” He tried again at the United Nations this week. In a speech that strained for effect, he likened Iran to a 20th-century “radical regime” of “awesome power.” That would be the Third Reich.

Among those who question this approach is David Harris, the executive director of the American Jewish Committee. Referring to the new Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, he wrote in the Israeli daily Haaretz that, “Simply implying, for instance, that anyone who sits down with Rouhani is a modern-day Neville Chamberlain or Édouard Daladier won’t do the trick. To the contrary, it will only give offense and alienate.”

When Netanyahu’s staunchest supporters — the leaders of the American Jewish community — question his approach to Iran, the Israeli prime minister needs to stop calling Rouhani “a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” his favored epithet, and start worrying about crying wolf.

I suppose that it's at least something but the disproportionate amount of coverage to non-Israeli regime friendly reportage in this country is astounding - I read Haaretz and The Jerusalem Post quite regularly and there is no shortage of reporting and viewpoints that aren't in lockstep with the extreme right-wing Netanyahu government. I am also pretty sure that the New York Times ombudsman will be getting a call from Alan Dershowitz or some other deranged war pimp threatening boycotts and smearing for Cohen's intransigence. This is yet one more example of the shameful enabling of the dumbing down of America that the mass media has been culpable in and it really isn't getting any better considering that as of this afternoon some of the top 'stories' being promoted are Tiger at Zoo Bites Woman's Arm, 9 Year Old Boy Sneaks onto Flight to Vegas and 2,000 Lashes For Nude Dancing. The last one is of interest only because it took place in Saudi Arabia, our 'partners in peace' and the paragon for a tolerant society as well as the recipient of billions of dollars in U.S. weapons deals. With friends like these who needs enemies?

And of course the genesis of the entire U.S.-Iran problem as it actually exists is that 1953 coup d'etat that the CIA and the Brits engineered to overthrow democratically elected leader Mohammad Mosaddegh giving way to decades of tyranny by the U.S. backed despot the Shah of Iran and his SAVAK goon squads. Despite the CIA itself's recent copping to this and the subsequent documentation released it is always through the lens of the 1978-1980 Iranian hostage crisis that is used to portray Iran as an enemy of American freedom (not that we actually have any), mom and apple pie. The Ayatollah Khomeini is a scary looking guy, just like Ahmadinejad and it is always easier to boil down historical and geopolitical issues of enormous complexity into easily digested gruel to feed to the sheeple when you have that ready made devil that can be trotted out.  

The business of America after all is war, we are addicted to it but like all doomed junkies the only endgame is sorrow and self-destruction.
